2012 Predictions; How did they go?
I think there was a thread like this, but I seen these threads with the predictions in them and it sparked an idea. As the 2012 Racing season is almost over () I decided to open up this thread so you guys could see how accurate you were with your predictions. I'll post mine in spoilers to avoid stretching the page.
Formula 1
NASCAR
Scarily close with my F1 picks, but my NASCAR predictions were way off.... how about you guys?

Worst Race: India - Yep.
Any Major News announcements: Force India vastly improves, and Felipe Massa does really poor in the Ferrari, finishing 8th in points, being outpaced by Raikonnen and... SCHUMACHER! - Scarily accurate, apart from Schumi. Rosberg just needs 2 points to steal 7th from Massa, and Raikonnen's been on a tear this year.

Re: 2012 Predictions; How did they go?
You know, no offence Ben but I'd rather do this when the season I both those leagues are over, but I can already predict the best race of the F1 season was probably China in my opinion, and in NASCAR the Quicken Loans 400.

You have two weeks to wait for NASCAR, and a bit longer for F1, but what harm is there getting them up early? I actually wanted to put it up mainly for Indycar predictions, but I seen that thread derailed a fair bit and no-one actually made predictions, but I'd already done the NASCAR and F1 things for the main post, so I figured why not post it anyway. There's nothing stopping you waiting for the next few weeks, just come back then

Maybe, perhaps I shouldn't poke my own nose in straightaway

Barn-yay wins Failwide title. (Nice sponsorship Roush)
Ty Dillion wins Trucks because Childress. (Nope)

Re: 2012 Predictions; How did they go?
Ok, here's mine. Posted in spoiler like the Brit. I haven't watch any of the Truck races and only few of the Nationwide. That's why I didn't post the truck predictions and my answers are such for Nationwide.
- Spoiler:
- NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
First-time winners: A.J. Allmindinger (only one left) {This was back when he was in good equipment}
Most wins in a season: 5 wins. Not sure who will do it. But, I don't see it going past 5. {Well, both JJ and Brad has 5 right now, see if this holds up or not; my bet is not}
Upset of the year: Trevor Bayne wins back to back 500's. I know right? Honestly that would be an upset. {Sucks this didn't happen. I'd have to say (and I'm going to be bitched at for it) Joey's Pocono win is probably the upset}
Disappointments: Jimmie Johnson (though he will make the Chase and probably finish in the top 7) and Dale Jr. { }
Best race of 2012: Daytona 500 and the Ford 400 {Not sure here. I thought Daytona was good. Hard to decide race of the year. We've had many FINISHES of the year (there's a difference, a race is more than one lap), but not really one I can call race of the year.}
Worst race of 2012: Any race at Auto Club Speedway {No further explanation needed.}
Retirees at season end: none {Looks like this one holds true.}
Driver of the year: Brad Keselowski. Maybe not a 3 win season, but he will be in the Chase again. {Right now, I'd definitely say Brad has been drive of the year. My reasoning might be right, but I'd say I've got this.}
Reject of the year: Some Backmarker {Don't know how to call this.}
Most likely to lose ride in the middle of the season:Refer to previous answer {Ditto.}
Champion:Carl Edwards. Have to go with momentum. { }
Runner-up:Tony Stewart or Kevin Harvick. Stewart for the momentum reason. Harvick because he has been there every year. [b]{Stewart has surprised me this year, in the fact, he couldn't maintain his early season momentum. Harvick as RCR as a whole has been lackluster.}
NASCAR Nationwide Series:
First-time winners: Danica Patrick and I think 2 others. {Well, DP was a fail, but I was close with two races to go the count is at 3: Buescher, Piquet, and Dillon.}
Most wins in a season: 9, by a cup driver, don't know which one though {This one could happen. Logano's got 8 with 2 races to go.}
Upset of the year: Danica wins Daytona, the July race { }
Disappointments: Jason Leffler {Spot on much.}
Best race of 2012: Tie. Daytona and Montreal {Daytona I would say; Montreal I didn't watch, but from what everyone said on here I'd say it was.}
Worst race of 2012: Auto Club {Again spot on.}
Retirees at season end: none {Looking good so far.}[/b}
Driver of the year: Elliot Sadler, 2 wins and the championship [b]{He's got double the win total but is tied for the lead with 2 to go.}
Reject of the year: Some backmarker {Not sure here.}
Most likely to lose ride in the middle of the season: Some Turner Motorsports driver {Again not sure.}
Champion: Elliot Sadler
Runner-up: Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
{Combinating these two for obvious reasons, cause these will be the top two. Order and whether I'm right won't be determined till after Homestead.}
Re: 2012 Predictions; How did they go?
NASCAR Picks...
F1 picks...
- Spoiler:
- First-time winners: A.J. Allmendinger (lolno)
Most wins in a season: Kyle Busch (lol)
Upset of the year: Michael McFailure running at the end of a race. (5 times!)
Disappointments: Dale Earnhardt Jr. (He won, so no.)
Best race of 2012: Daytona 500 (Yes. Damn it jet dryer, couldn't you do just a bit more damage to the track so Blaney would have won?)
Worst race of 2012: <insert cookie cutter here> (Yep)
Retirees at season end: Geoff Bodine (he'll retire before the end of the season though) (Yep.)
Driver of the year: Jeff Gordon (Hmm...nope)
Reject of the year: Kyle Busch (More stupidity that NASCAR will most likely look the other way on, while costing himself even more wins and most importantly, costing him the title late in the chase) (Didn't even make the chase, lol!)
Most likely to lose ride in the middle of the season: Geoff Bodine (not fired, but retired) (Implying he had a ride this season...)
Champion: Jeff Gordon ( Nope.)
Runner-up: Kyle Busch (lolnope)
F1 picks...
- Spoiler:
- Champion: Sebastian Vettel
(Yep, but it's still possible for Alonso.)
Runner Up: Lewis Hamilton (Right Ben? )
(Probably not)
Constructors Champion: Red Bull
(Yep)
Runner Up Constructors Champion: McLaren
(Yep)
Reject Of The Year: Romain Grosjean
(Sure.)
Driver Of The Year: Sebastian Vettel (He'll win all but two or three races)
(Didn't happen that way, but he'll still be driver of the year)
Biggest Improvment: Caterham
(Noap. Real Lotus outperformed fake Lotus.)
Biggest Dissapointment: Jenson Button
(Nope. Probably give that to Massa. Still, Felipe is Faster!)
Best New Driver: I don't know who the new drivers are, so no pick here.
(Grrjn)
Worst New Driver: See best new driver.
(lolpic)
Most Improved Team: Caterham
(LOL)
First Time Winners: Kamui Kobayashi!
(No. )
Drivers looking for a ride in 2013: Too many to name here (A few spots available, I think)
Best Race: Canada, Singapore could be good too if it isn't in a monsoon.
(Think I was off a bit on these.)
Worst Race: Can't really say if there'll be any bad races, don't know enough about the current F1 tracks and the kind of racing they've had in the past.
(No points)
Any Major News announcements: Robert Kubica finally realizes a comeback is out of the question, HRT realizes they're way out of their league and shuts down after 2012, Austin GP postponed until at least 2014, New Jersey GP cancelled, brand new plan for a US GP comes up to be held on the streets of Los Angeles, thus we have David Krikorian doing backflips (LA GP news bit a joke)
(Well, no LA GP, sorry DK. Austin GP goes ahead, NJ cancelled, got one! HRT isn't going anywhere even though they're hopeless, and nothing on the Kubica comeback)

Re: 2012 Predictions; How did they go?
From my F1 predictions.
McLaren - Thought they would do a little better, but nothing out of this world from what I predicted, and what they did.
Red Bull - I didn't think they would have to fight for the top at all.
Ferrari - Putting up a fight now, but after the first few races, even with Alonso's win, I thought they were gonna suck bad by Ferrari standards.
Mercedes - See McLaren
Force India - Meh
Sauber - I didn't see Perez coming. Thought Kobayashi would be the star of the team.
Williams - Would have never guessed they'd have a win in them this year
Toro Rosso - As I thought they'd do
Lotus - Didnt think Grosjean would do as well as he did. Kimi, I was expecting anything from him.
Catherham - Thought they would be at the point they could score a poi t here or there.
HRT - Yeah, like I thought.
Marussia - ^^^

Nascar:
First-time winners: AJ Allmendinger - DAMMIT AJ.
Most wins in a season: Brad Keselowski - With the way the championship's going Brad better hope i'm right
Upset of the year: Daytona 500 will be another winner out of left-field - LOLROUSHTEAMORDERS
Disappointments: Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Jeff Gordon - Denny: In the chase, Kyle: In general Gordon: In the 1st half of the season....So somewhat right
Best race of 2012: Watkins Glen - Yup. Based finish.
Worst race of 2012: Richmond - I don't remember the spring race and the fall was okay due to Bowyer's wtf pit strategy. There's been a few other races that have been terrible.
Retirees at season end: None - Correct since Boobie Laboobie isn't doing what we say.

Re: 2012 Predictions; How did they go?
Many of these predictions require the season to be over to verify accuracy
- Spoiler:
- NASCAR Sprint Cup Series
First-time winners: Wallmendinger, Blaney, Robby Gordon Motorsports (No, Nope, and Hell Nope)
Most wins in a season: Kurt or Kyle Busch (Nope and nope)
Upset of the year: Dale Earnhardt Jr & Joey Logano win a race (Nailed it)
Disappointments: Jr, Danica, Kasey Kahne, 3 of the 4 plate races, Kentucky, everyone who thinks Jr will win the Chase, ESPN commentators, FOX commentators, TNT commentators, ABC commentators, SPEED commentators, every pit reporter, NASCAR's consistency, MWR, Trevor Bayne, Jack Roush, (Yes, Yes, Yes, No, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, No, No, No, Yes, Yes)
Best race of 2012: Watkins Glen (Nailed it)
Worst race of 2012: Cookie Cutters (Uh, pretty much)
Driver of the year: Kevin Harvick (Hell Nope)
Reject of the year: Danica Patrick, ROTY, whoever is in charge of calling "Debris" cautions (Yes, Yes, Surprisingly No)
Champion: A Penske driver (Yes)
Runner-up: Jimmie Johnson (Almost, but no)
NASCAR Nationwide Series:
First-time winners: Austin Dillon, Jacques Villeneuve (Yes, Nope)
Most wins in a season: Some cuppie (Yes)
Upset of the year: A Non-Cup driver wins a race (Yes)
Disappointments: Danica Patrick (Yes)
Best race of 2012: Montreal (Yes)
Worst race of 2012: The rest (For the most part, yes)
Driver of the year: Some cuppie, Austin Dillon (Nope, Nope)
The rest: Who Cares? (Spot on )
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series:
Best race of 2012: Rockingham, regardless of how it actually plays out (Yep)
I'm going to add my own categories for the heck of it. Drivers to watch, either for vast improvement of occasional upsets, Most expected moment(s), for obviously obvious reasons, and I'm Calling it, less likely things I think will happen
Drivers to watch (all series): Nelson Piquet, Ricky Carmichael, Ricky Stenhouse, Austin Dillon, Marcos Ambrose, every former open wheel driver, Danica Patrick (not that we have a choice) (Yes, Nope, Yes, Yes, Yes, Nope, Unfortunately yes)
Most Expected (all series): Way too much Danicamania, way too much Jr-mania, Ryan Newman will crash out of 3 of the plate races, Kyle Busch's immaturity will cause him to do poorly in the chase, Jimmie Johnson will rape the field and break 60 career wins, Robby Gordon will inexplicably crash into people throughout the season, NASCAR will penalize a start-&-park team for something it lets Hendrick blatantly get away with, more two-by-two drafting, Pocono is even more boring at 400 miles (Not really, During the chase yes, Nope, Yes, At 60 right now, Nope, Nope, Yes, Yes)
I'm Calling it (all series): Someone flips at a non-plate track, Danica nearly wins and that overshadows the upset winner, Austin Dillon wins some race at Daytona in the #3 and nobody will shut up about it (Nope, Nope, Nope)
