Re: Race 16: Round of Victoria
- Spoiler:
- Big Accident For Xenos, Points Day Shattered For #5:
In what looked to be the making of a points finish for Duff and the #5 team, all expectations quickly vanished on lap 104 in a violent collision with the #71 of Chris Allen.
"It looked promising," Duff murmured. "Our car was in the top 5 for a short time, planned on riding behind Woodard to run for some points but unfortunately a couple guys came together just ahead of me. I never saw the hit coming. It left me pretty winded but no serious injuries thankfully, only disappointment. I'm still determined to end 2012 inside the top 20."
The other Xenos driver Marcos Leonard took home the 20th spot and earned the team's only point of the weekend. His chances were also nearly ended on lap 122 in a conflict with Scott Steudler.

Re: Race 16: Round of Victoria
- Spoiler:
- Matthews, Soveral tangle again:
"That's twice!"
Those were the first words spoken by Ryan Matthews as he exited his crippled Gasnier, wrecked again in the Lap 51 incident with Luciano Soveral. It's the second time Matthews and Soveral have gotten together on the track this season, and both times ended with Matthews fuming.
"I wonder if Soveral realizes I'm racing for my career here," he added, referring to the reports that Lynxe had purchased the team he races for, Majestic Motorsports, which means that he will likely be gone at the end of the season. "I can't afford to have crap like this happen. I don't know what I did to piss Soveral off, but I think I'm going to go get a few boxing lessons from Delgado before we go to Queensland. Make of that what you will."
With that, he walked back to the team hauler.

Re: Race 16: Round of Victoria
- Spoiler:
- Woodard's attempt to shine flatlines at Calder Park
While Woodard and Plissken seemed to race each other over the course of the race, Woodard's car seemed to be 'out of sync' handling wise as Woodard fell back to finish outside the points. Woodard, who ran towards the front most of the race due to pit stops, fell back rather quickly as the laps ticked away. "They gave me a good car, we should have pitted, but we didn't to maintain a spot in the top 5... guess it came to bite me later."
Woodard assured that there were no team orders as fans and critics alike saw that Woodard and Plissken actually racing each other for position while not running each other over. "I wish the next drivers the best of luck, the team treated me well enough. Oh, and it seems that I heard rumors about Griffith being hated more because of him joining James Dalton Racing, but don't quote me on that." For those TMMC history buffs, the relationship between PSI and James Dalton fell apart during the 2011 season, the fallout left PSI to go to Tonare (and have Griffith forced on them), and James Dalton Racing bringing in what appears to be a variant of the Bolden Kiowa.
Woodard had a couple of close calls during the race, "I heard from my spotter that Chris Allen was coming back up the track. Low and behold, he smashed right into Zach Duff and took him out. I'm glad they are both okay." When asked about the Marcos Leonard incident, "That happened right behind me too, I'm shocked that he and Adrian were faster than me with all that damage."
While reporters asked what PSI thought of Woodard, "Can't say, you'll have to ask them yourselves." Woodard would leave Australia to head back to America for the remainder of his ARLA Tour.

- Camphausen livid toward Steudler
"I'm racing for my ride, and its people like Steudler out there who drive like tools and ruin my day. I've torn up far to many race cars this season and had far to many races blown. Thanks alot Steudler, for ruining my damn career."

Ben Atkins has a more than dismal day at Victoria
Ben Atkins, after what he described as his worse drive ever, left Victoria with only pessimistic thoughts. The Atlantic Motorsports car was well off the pace and Atkins was involved in several accidents, arguably not of his own doing, but this experience was still a pessimistic one for him.
"I'm having serious second thoughts about if I want to go into full time Master Cup now. I'm not sure I'm ready." said Atkins "I really think I'm not ready for the big league now, but I'll be more than happy if any team is somehow still interested in me after that terrible showing."
Atkins will race next week at Queensland, but now the Independent's Trophy seems to be out of reach for him, after he looked so good earlier in the season.

Furious Devereux Visits Atkins After Race
After being held up by Ben Atkins and colliding with the Atlantic Motorsports driver, Adrien Devereux was less than pleased. The irate Frenchman parked his Calton-Morel Altair after the race and visited the Atlantic Motorsports garage, still with his helmet on. Devereux and Atkins were surrounded by reporters, and while many onlookers expected a fight, Devereux did not throw a punch at Atkins.
When he was interviewed by Channel 44 after finishing 21st, Devereux was still clearly annoyed with the circumstances.
"There were about four cars that had no business out there... they were so slow and reckless that they were dangerous... I don't know if it's the drivers or the cars, but I've seen those cars go faster before." Devereux said, implying that the slower cars were hazardous because of the drivers.
"Luciano got taken out by the 11 car being too slow, and we got taken out by the 56 car being in the way... if this championship is decided by backmarkers then it will be a joke."
Devereux lost the points lead for the second time this year, dropping behind Arto Kekkonen.
Henton Celebrates Podium
Volpi driver Divina Henton has often been criticized for failing to live up to the standards set by Alexis Rainsford at Volpi, however, the Englishwoman elivered in style in Victoria. Henton has regularly been strong at the road courses, and on a night when teammate Packer Carroll could not come to grips with the changing track conditions, Henton shone. Her lone TM Lights win came at the superspeedway in New York, but Henton's TM Master Cup series career has featured several strong runs on ovals.
"It's just brilliant, especially after all the hard work everyone at Volpi and Lynxe has had and what little results we've been able to make of it." Henton said during her podium interview.
"I'm just happy that we're back where we deserve to be!"
Henton has had a difficult sophomore season, which despite driving for Volpi, has been plagued by mechanical failures. In one fell swoop, Henton appears to have shattered the perception that she is too hard on her machinery or that she is unable to handle the pressure of running at the front. It isn't known if Henton has secured a ride for next season, but if not, then her Victoria run has sent a clear message to prospective team bosses.
Soveral Blames Matthews for Collision
Drivers seldom react well after they crash out of the lead of a race because of the actions of a backmarker, and the fiery Brazilian Luciano Soveral is no exception. A frustrated Soveral was pulled back into the garage by other members of his team, as he clearly blamed Ryan Matthews for the clash that eliminated both from the 2012 Round of Victoria.
"I never hit him and he spins ... hits me and says its my fault! It's no surprise he is racing for a job because he drives like an idiot and then he crash... almost every race so far! He gave me no room on the track and he forgets that you have to give the leader room!" Soveral said in his interview.
Hodges-Walter Racing, for whom Soveral drives, offered to give Soveral's telemetry to Matthews, which, they state, indicates that Soveral never touched Matthews in turn 3.
"Luciano got taken out, and the other guy wants to fight. Well, from what I can tell he's fighting himself." team co-owner Carl Walter said during the yellow fight.
"Drivers get mad, but I really think Ryan [Matthews] needs to get over Quincy already."

Sandy comments after the race
"Get wrecked by the 56 and the 1 car, I hope they fight each other one day and they both punch each other as hard as they can. They both didn't need to do that. I did well and I'm not a known oval racer at all. Hopefully we can go to Queensland and run as hard as we can in front of my family."

Waters Explains Incident with Atkins
"The 56 slid up track which allowed me to get a nose under him but the 17 came up pushed me into Atkins. We're still happy with a 15th place finish. Any time you finish in the points is a good day."
