I'm loving the diversity here, so much better than last year's schedule.

It's actually worse then this year's. We have to wait two more weeks for Talladega. Oh well, at least it gives an awesome three week stretch of Charlotte-Talladega-Martinsville.

I'm going to explain the schedule in a song.

Re: 2013 Cup Schedule Released
NASCAR is once again showing how stubborn they can be... Schedule wise, NASCAR, out of every major racing league has the weakest schedule of anyone. If I were NASCAR, my idea is simple. CUT 2ND RACES! Most of these tracks would be jammed to the brim if NASCAR did that. Look at Watkins Glen, Sonoma, Darlington, and many more tracks with one race. They are packed for that race. Only allow tracks that can handle 2 races, to have them. With that being said, NASCAR then could expand the tracks that they run on. For example, give a Kansas date to Rockingham, give a Michigan date to Iowa, ect... The schedule would be cut down to 26ish races, making each race more important. Because in all seriousness, how important is Las Vegas' date to the championship?

Re: 2013 Cup Schedule Released
Here is a point that needs to be made
I attended the Mid Ohio ALMS / INDYCAR double weekend. The place was packed. Seriously, all the interior parking was filled and we had to park in a cornfield that was part of the track property but not inside the track proper. Mid Ohio, aside from the big ones on the backstretch and a few small ones at the Carasell, doesn't have many grandstands, but hills instead. All of these were covered in lawn chairs. The paddock was a busy place, and drivers were intermingling with fans. It was fantastic.
If you look at a NASCAR race at any number of tracks, especially the Nationwide and Camping World series races, the grandstands are empty. Why is this?
IndyCar and ALMS both visit a track ONCE A YEAR.

Re: 2013 Cup Schedule Released
lol, might as well just come right out and say this pathetic schedule is forever. This is why the Cup series is boring. Personally, I think you guys should just avoid watching the cup series all together because they clearly refuse to change and they aren't listening to the fans.

This
I think Watkins Glen was the last time I watched an entire cup race.
Re: 2013 Cup Schedule Released
Well, I guess it's just going to be the Trucks, IndyCar, Formula 1, touring car, and sports car racing for me next year...

The thing about the Trucks is, so far this season, only 2 cuppies won, and the rest has been pretty good. could we we see the same result next year?

I mentioned something similar to that in the Trucks Thread earlier, as it's a more better Series to watch than the Nationwide Series and the Sprint Cup Series.

and one of those wins was a bs penalty they gave to a truck regular.navycook75 wrote:yeah.Chives2112 wrote:Well, I guess it's just going to be the Trucks, IndyCar, Formula 1, touring car, and sports car racing for me next year...

Re: 2013 Cup Schedule Released
it's actually returning to "normal". Kansas and Talladega switched dates this year to allow Kansas to be repaved.Spannerhead29 (Nelson) wrote:It's actually worse then this year's. We have to wait two more weeks for Talladega.
It seems Nascar is listening to it's audience now. They tried changing tracks around in the mid 2000's and everyone complained constantly, so now their sticking with one consistent schedule...and everyone is still complaining. Figures

I much rather have a schedule full of variety then just the same old crap.Mystrsyko wrote:it's actually returning to "normal". Agree with this. Even if NASCAR gave the fans everything they wanted they would still find something to complain about. Honestly I say if you don't like it don't watch it.
Re: 2013 Cup Schedule Released
I say if you have a opinion be ready to defend. Nascar doesn't listen to the fans so they have every right to complain...get over it.day500champ1 wrote:Mystrsyko wrote:it's actually returning to "normal". Pot calling the kettle black, but whatever.....
It's not like the schedule is going to change unless Bruton has a nice new venue like Kentucky. If you aren't owned by ISC or SMI you aren't getting on the Cup schedule. The majority of the schedule has been in place for years. I believe it's more the car than the track.

Well, the racing has changed too, and so it means certain races are better than others. People want to see less single-file racing at tracks like Dover and California, and more of the amazing racing at tracks at Watkins Glen and Infineon. There are more than just the cookie cutters, and the officials need to branch out to tracks like Road America and Montreal where the nationwide series have had amazing races at.
This season should have been a message to the officials that we need a change because the racing has been lackluster for the most part, and you can't deny it. People want change, it's not really complaining.
And Griffin, you're the last person who needs to call people out about whining

Re: 2013 Cup Schedule Released
What they should do to improve the schedule is just run all 36 races at Kentucky. It'll be like best season ever.
Re: 2013 Cup Schedule Released
Honestly, I dont think Nascar can change the schedule. Don't forget that back in 2004ish they were sued because they had "promised" a second race for Texas. That ultimately led to tracks being bought up and closed by SMI and ISC so they could give dates to their newest tracks. Kentucky got on the schedule in a similar manner.
I'm sure if Nascar wanted to add another track, whoever owns the track that would lose a date would sue the pants off of them. I think that's why in the past new tracks have been added on to the schedule, instead of replacing others. Just 20 years ago (1992) there were just 29 races. I'm sure Nascar wishes they could do away with some of the current 36 dates, but more than likely, they're legally bound to keep it as is.
