50th year of the Bathurst 1000
I know it's 2 months away, but seeing as how the Shannons Supercar Showdown (or whatever it's called) has started, may as well post it now.
This year marks the 50th running of the Bathurst 500/1000 & is sure to be a beauty. Every campsite that wasn't re-booked got sold out in 33 MINUTES, which meant more sites had to be created.
Here are some moments throughout the race's 50 year history

When I get a full entry list (which should be after the Sandown 500), I'll post it.

Really looking forward to it. I went to the Bathurst 1000 in 2008 and it was absolutely great.

Re: 50th year of the Bathurst 1000
Camping there is the best. No rules (except when the coppers are around) & best campfires. It'll be my 9th year up there & my grandfather's 45th consecutive year. I just hope a deodorant bomb doesn't go off right next to us this yearunknown user wrote:Nascar9fan wrote:I know it's 2 months away, but seeing as how the Shannons Supercar Showdown (or whatever it's called) has started, may as well post it now.

Re: 50th year of the Bathurst 1000
You camp at Bathurst? Farkin' ruthless c***. I think I've only camped there in 1994 or 1995 when I was a baby, my parents were both flag marshals at the time, in fact, if my mum went and worked these in 1983, my sister could of been born at Bathurst. But still, whincupwinslol.Nascar9fan wrote:Camping there is the best. No rules (except when the coppers are around) & best campfires. Re: 50th year of the Bathurst 1000
Craig Lowndes won both races at Queensland Raceway. Mark Winterbottom has taken 18 points off Jamie Whincup's lead, Whincup now leads by 82 points. Next round is Eastern Creek on August 25-6.

Next year is going to be a Ford v Holden v Nissan V Mercedes battle. Another manufacturer is bound to join as well (Merc was just confirmed to be in with a team name I already forgot & possibly SBR, but they can't say anything until January 1, 2013).

Re: 50th year of the Bathurst 1000
Jamie Whingecup is qq-ing again. Jamie was doing a practice start in the exit of pit lane during practice... with cars behind him waiting to get out. Van Gisbergen was the first car behind him, and SVG was giving him a couple of little bumps, pretty much saying "Hey, gtfo of the way b!tch", and Whincup has gone to Twitter and complained.

They downplayed the event coverage a lot from last year.
Also, Moffat/Davison will change to the No. 17, which makes me believe that Johnson/Simonsen will be in the 18.
The reason being Moffat's sponsor, Norton, wanted to do a retro scheme & to make it look even more alike, a number change was needed. However, the car isn't expected to hit the track until race day.

Jesse Dixon wins the 2012 Shannons Supercar Showdown & will join last years winner Cameron Waters at the Great Race. Waters is replacing Denyer as Denyer's back injury ruled him out of the seat.

I always see that the way he got out of his contract to go to a team I really don't like was just stupid (And I'm not even a Kelly Racing fanboy). And sometimes he comes across as a bit of a dick. I foung iy really funny when he crashed about 100 metres from me at Clipsal this year
