- Mixed Feelings for Delgado After Inattentive Sweeney Wrecks Him Out of Top 15 Run
Tom Delgado came into this event looking for a good result before he heads off to have minor surgery on his back. Instead, he lost a potential top 10 run because of someone who was not paying attention at all. Although you could see Delgado's frustration, he thought better of going on a verbal tirade.
"Two good things came out of this weekend for me, and more importantly MRD Motorsports. One, Joseph (Howard) and Kyle (Gaffigan) got much needed top 5 finishes and fought their way back into the top 20 in points. Two..."
*Delgado walked into the half of Victory Lane of which Ashley Tucker was celebrating her victory in race 1. Delgado gets on his knees and proposes to Ashley in front of the #57 Riggs Motorsports team*

- Tucker wins Race 1: Says Yes to Delgado
An already emotional Tucker in victory lane after her first points-paying ARLA win at the Smash Beer 400 was surprised with Tom Delgado getting on one knee and proposing. Tucker was very quick to say yes to Tom. She had this to say...
"I never thought I'd get a day as good as this! I win my first race, and then get engaged! It's just... it's fantastic! I'm so happy right now! I need to thank everyone at Riggs Motorsports and Tom as well for supporting me... this wins for you guys!"
The marriage is due to take place in the off-season between 2012 and 2013.

- Spoiler:
- Jared Warth's string of good runs comes to a end @ INDY and Houston
Jared Warth has run very good in his very few starts this year in the ARLA elite series, These past two races have been hard on this small team though: JW "Man... I don't know what people think they can accomplish by divebombing 3 wide into a turn, Clearly some people need to learn the fundamentals of Racing... It just sucks to get such good cars and have them torn up by idiots. Thanks to my team for giving me a great car these past two weeks, I'll be back at Memphis unless i can strike a deal to run more races."

Re: 2012 Race 10 (Smash Beer 400)
- Spoiler:
- Ward Apologises for causing big wreck, admits silly mistakes
Barney Ward made an apology to some drivers for causing a very avoidable wreck at the Smash Beer 400. Ward made contact with M&J driver Kevin Monroe in turn 2 on lap 40 and appeared to keep leaning on him throughout the corner before going into the wall coming out and setting off a big pile up, "I greatly apologise to some of the drivers' races that I ruined," he said,"I thought I didn't see Monroe but I realised I was still leaning on him before it was too late. I do feel that wreck that 100% my fault and I do think I can't blame anyone else other than me. "
Re: 2012 Race 10 (Smash Beer 400)
- Spoiler:
- Yamada Happy About Team's Consistency
Makoto Yamada was excited once again after the first of the two duel races. Yamada picked up his third top ten finish of the season, and he was on of the few cars on the lead lap at the end. Yamada told us, "The BMR have built some great cars at scattered times in the past, but they have now started to give me a great car every week. The car was good enough to qualify at Indy, but I screwed up. Anyways, everything worked well again today, and I got another good finish out of it."

- Spoiler:
- Todd Stater's Thoughts
"I thought we had a decent car today...I don't know who it was that caused that wreck, but it ended up taking us a little off the pace. Staying out, I'll admit, was kind of a last-ditch move to keep us in contention, but obviously it didn't pan out. If I did stack up the field in that one wreck in the middle of the race, I'm sorry. The car just wouldn't go. But I haven't seen the replay yet. I should."

- Spoiler:
- Zins once again emphasizes that teams are "out for him".
After some rather intriguing thoughts at Indy, Zachary Zins once again reiterates his statements after a blown tire took him out of the lead in Texas.
"It's all in plain view, people! These Killbots are out to get me! SEEK THE TRUTH! OPEN YOUR EYES! THE POWERS THAT BE IN ARLA HAVE FAILED YOU! I'm sure I won't live to see the next race unless you people do something! WATCH OUT ON OCTOBER 18TH! THERE WILL BE MORE! THEY'RE COMING!"
Re: 2012 Race 10 (Smash Beer 400)
- Spoiler:
- After two hard hits in the first race, Mac Rhylen had this to say, "That 68 needs to get off the track. He claims that the cars aren't fast enough, but if he knew anything about how to drive a racecar, maybe there wouldn't be so many problems. If he hadn't held up the field and caused the first wreck that damaged our car, I think we could've had a good run. But because we got caught up in that first wreck he caused, the car had damage and we were stuck midfield and got taken out."
When asked about the hard licks he took and how he felt after them, he had this to say, "I'm fine. I've had worse wrecks on tracks like this. I'm sore, but I'll be fine."

- Spoiler:
- Nikos Kastapolous and Carcia-Aragon Motorsports got their first career top five as he got 5th in the second heat at Houston. Naturally, Kas got a much needed morale boost.
"Oh man this series is a heck of a roller coaster," Kas said to reporters after the race, "we got totally screwed over at Indy with the whole setup and the dnf points problem, but hey I'll take a run like this any day. Awesome job by everyone. I'm ready for the rest of the season to unfold man, let's get a win? How bout it?" *rest of CAM pit cheers*

"I'm going to see Mac Rhylen after the race, that's it. I'm sick of getting fucking wrecked and having my car damaged from some fucking idiot not knowing where the brake pedal is."

Re: 2012 Race 10 (Smash Beer 400)
- Spoiler:
Positive results for Matthews drivers:
With Indianapolis in the rear-view mirror, the Matthews Motorsports crew headed to Houston for the rescheduled Smash Beer 400.
In Race 1, which was more a game of bumper-cars than a race, Tiffany Matthews managed to keep her car clean, and, though she missed the top 10, completed all the laps and as a result moved into the top 20 in points.
"I'm happy to get the car home in one piece," she said. "I'm sure a lot of other people aren't feeling that way, though. And it's because certain people are out there that shouldn't be. I won't name names, but we all know who they are."
She was also asked about Frank Azure's post-Indy Twitter comments in which he said she "couldn't finish five laps at the start of the season".
"Who?" she asked before being reminded. "Oh, him. Whatever. I don't care about nobodies. He's in the ASCC for a reason."
She was also asked about heading to the treacherous Buffalo Downs Raceway, which will make her first visit to a dirt track.
"I'm looking forward to it," she said. "Hopefully I don't make a fool of myself out there. But I think the team will set me up so that I don't."
Race 2 was highlighted by Ryan Matthews making his first ARLA start since Carbondale. And unlike there, where he only lasted 32 laps before he retired with a bad engine, he made it to the end, carrying home his first ARLA top-5 finish with him.
"That was fun," he said. "I really felt the car was coming to me in the late stages of that last run. I just wish we had about 10 or so more laps...I might have had something for Porteau and those guys. But after Carbondale I'll take this run. Something to build on for Iowa."
(OOC: Trying to give Tiff a little more attitude. We'll see how that fits into the "Alexis Rainsford 2.0" narrative. )

Texas Penalties
#8- LUCAS SWEENEY, PEARSON-SWEENEY MOTORSPORTS
-50 point deduction and start the Yellowstone 150 from the rear of the field for causing an avoidable collision under yellow flags.
Results and points are also up, and they reflect this penalty.

Re: 2012 Race 10 (Smash Beer 400)
- Spoiler:
- Ashby and crew nearly pull off upset victory at Houston; finish 2nd
The #12 Brinson Engineering team continues to suprise with competitive performances and at Houston, this was no different. After qualifying on the second row, Trey Ashby was in contention to win all race and almost pulled off a upset finishing 2nd. A problem free race throughout, Ashby remained in the top 5 all day long proving that both car and driver are indeed a dark horse to be recknoned with.
"I'm absolutely thrilled to see things coming together for this team" says Matt Brinson, team owner and crew chief. "Our mindset has been to simply put as much effort as possible into preparing these race cars each and every week. We may not have the best equipment nor massive budget but our small group of guys has done wonders with what has been given to us and Trey has driven remarkably well to boot. Races like this are all I can ask for and the wins will come with consistent performances. For now, it's another debrief at the shop and more all nighters to get the car ready for next time."

Re: 2012 Race 10 (Smash Beer 400)
Is there a record for worst points finish for a driver following a championship season in ARLA? Kevin Monroe is 43rd with half the year through already, so I just wondered if someone did worse than that.
