Formula International (cancelled)
Approved by Cynon
Due to the absence of a Formula 1 styled series on this forum, apart from Formula A which is a mention only series and the Formula Overdrive which is more of an Indy Car style series, I'd like to form the "Formula International" series. The idea of the series is of a cost efficient major single seater series as an alternative over the primary Single Seater championship, the International GP Championship (this series is non-cannon) over the expenses of building and maintaining chassis and engines.
Chassis are to be supplied by official manufacturers; Andiamo, in two different variants, while Danish manufacturer Pedersen supplies a further 2 (4 different chassis type in OWR07) . 5 engines, supplied by multiple manufacturers, will be additionally available.
Info on the series
Due to difficulties to run a series F1 style championship (e.g. with slow teams and fast teams), I have chosen the 4 chassis, 6 engine style to counter this: the technique to be fastest is to choose the best combination and use your development points intelligently (dev. points will be explained soon). Additionally, driver ratings will also be important due to the overall equality of teams.
You receive 10 development points for each year. During the year, you may make adjustments to your chassis, engine or aerodynamic package. This is done by sending a private message to me, stating something slightly like this:
Chassis type:
Andiamo:
Chassis 1: Dallara Oval; 70-80 chassis, 40-60 aerodynamics, +5 for engine reliability
Chassis 2: Dallara Road; 20-80 chassis, 60-85 aerodynamics, +5 driver consistency
Pedersen:
Chassis 1: Panoz Oval; 40-60 chassis, 60-70 aerodynamics, +10 aggression
Chassis 2: Panoz Road; 50-70 chassis, 60-80 aerodynamics, +10 consistency
Engine type:
Firare: 50-90 engine, 10-30 reliability
Rossini Development: 70-80 engine, 0-60 reliability
Pedersen: 30-70 engine, 80-90 reliability
ORTech: 50-80 engine, 0-20 reliability
Esprit: 70-90 engine, 0-5 reliability
The series will mostly follow the 1979 F1 calendar, and I will allow 19 team registries. Only 28 cars will qualify for the race, after a Pre-Qualifying session takes place.
Sign Up Procedure
You may register 1 team, and choose to field either 1 car or 2. Pay drivers are allowed, i.e. a change of driver every few races.
I will accept the first 19 registrants.
