Wilkens, Birch, Douglas, and Cooper Eliminated from Knockout Cup
The first round of the inaugural NOMAD Knockout Cup is complete and among the drivers eliminated are the two full-time drivers of powerhouse team WilsonTech. Coming into the Knockout Cup after 7 of 12 races, WilsonTech had picked up 3 wins. After difficulties for both of the team's full-time drivers, Jeff Wilkens and Chad Birch, in the season's 8th and 9th races, only the team's part-time driver Joe Hatcher is still in contention for the Knockout Cup going forward.
David Hetzel Racing Enterprises' Johnathan Douglas was also eliminated, along with Clay Cooper driving in his own car this season. For Douglas and Cooper, the elimination comes off of a downward slide that began before the Knockout Cup. Douglas has had 4 straight negative results (points losses) and Cooper has had 3 negative results in a row. Both Douglas and Cooper picked up a DNF during the first round.
With all of that said, all of these drivers are still eligible for the season-long NOMAD Championship.

Re: RROL NOMAD
- Spoiler:
- Azzaretto maintains points lead and advances to Knockout Cup Finals with 8th place finish heading into finale
KAT Motorsports driver Frank Azzaretto entered the 2019 RROL NOMAD season's penultimate race at Dover only three points ahead of Jeff Wilkens and was in negative points in the second round of the Knockout Cup. Azzaretto qualified 15th for today's Monster Mile 100, while his points competitor Wilkens started 3rd. When the race started, Azzaretto went from 15th, into the top 3 in about ten laps, and on lap 12, passed Wilkens for the lead and leading 22 laps, earning himself a bonus point and effectively negating the bonus point Wilkens earned. After his car fell off at the one-third mark, Azzaretto walked away with a 8th place finish, while Wilkens finished 7th, earning both of them an additional point on top of the one they already earned. While he normally doesn't say much to the press, Azzaretto was very talkative to the media after the race.
"We had a rocket before that caution. I mean, we went from 15th to the lead in 12 laps and got the lead back on the restart. But about 10 laps after the restart, car just fell off and the next thing I knew, I had five or six car behind me and once they passed me, they were gone. And that final pit stop set us back even more. Luckily, we were able to pick off a few spots before the end of the race to get in the top 10 to get another point on top of the other point we got for leading those laps early."
With both of them earning two points, Azzaretto still leads three points over Wilkens heading into the final race of the season. And the two points was enough to advance him into the final round of the Knockout Cup. "I knew that once I got the lead, I knew we were on equal footing again, and as long we got some kind of points, and the 44 didn't win, I knew we'd be in good shape. And he finished one spot ahead of me, so we were able to maintain what we had coming into this race. I mean being in the Knockout Cup finals is great and all, but I'm focusing on the championship."
If Azzaretto succeeds in winning the championship, it will be the first in a career that has been filled with bad luck and failure. It would also be KAT Motorsports' second title as an organization. They had previously won the 2016 FARC Lowe Dollar Series title with current TM Master Cup Series driver, Chuck Johnson.

Championship-winning RJR to expand to 2 cars, Cris Cole joins
After collecting the 2019 NOMAD Championship with Mike Falls in the team's traditional #27 car, Rick Jarrett Racing will expand with a second full-time entry for the 2020 season.
David Jarrett, RJR's General Manager, spoke at a press conference on Monday morning. "We're proud to announce we will be adding a second full-time NOMAD entry for the 2020 season."
Cris Cole, former Old Dominion South Racing driver, then joined Jarrett at the podium. A brief exchange of hand shaking and posing for photos took place before Cole spoke.
"I'm thrilled to be joining such an accomplished organization. The team has also generously granted my wish to run car #72. I have chosen this number in honor of Benny Dwyer, my childhood hero and the greatest driver stock car racing has ever seen."
The conference ended with Jarrett and Cole explaining that sponsorship had not yet been finalized, but discussions relating to the matter were ongoing with "multiple suitors."

Quinnipiac Motorsports Expected to Return to RROL in 2020
HAMDEN, CT - Despite a lackluster first season in the RROL, Quinnipiac Motorsports will return to the series largely unchanged in 2020. Veteran driver Jessica Olenick will again be paired alongside 18-year-old Christine DeRosa. The team hopes that one year of development and investment in the team will pay off further in 2020; the team had already shown significant signs of improvement late in 2019.
"We're excited about next year, we've got some great sponsorship deals in the works and we're hopeful that we can continue the momentum we had at the end of this past season," stated team owner Matt Carano via phone.
The team plans to keep car numbers 23 and 6 for its two drivers; however, there is no word at this time if they will stick with Saar engines.

WilsonTech Returns to NOMAD, Seeking to Run Hatcher Full-Time
After quickly establishing themselves as one of the top teams in the first season of NOMAD, WilsonTech general manager James Spangler confirmed that Jeff Wilkens and Chad Birch will again compete full-time in 2020 with few changes to crews and sponsorship.
"With Jeff and Chad finishing 3rd and 4th in the points, we're certainly not going to mess with a good thing. They'll be back, and this time we're going to take the championship trophy as well", Spangler wrote in a Facebook post.
Besides the three combined wins and strong seasons by Wilkens and Birch, Joe Hatcher managed to extended what began as one-off entries for the Loudon races into a run all the way to the finals of the Knockout Cup. Pending funding and the hiring of additional full-time crew members, Spangler indicated his desire to field Hatcher's #34 car for the whole schedule as well.
"It was great to have Joe back by the middle of the season and turn those two races into a run at the Cup. If everything comes together, I definitely want him running for the championship as well."

Re: 2020 RROL NOMAD (Silly Season)
Freya Mast Looking To Run Full 2020 RROL Nomad Season
Soon to be 23 year old Freya Mast is looking to join the 2020 RROL Nomad season full time.
Mast ran both of the the New Hampshire races last season. Despite being trained as a road racer, as she grew up racing on road courses in the southern USA and Mexico, she actually ran significantly better on the New Hampshire road course.
Mast has TMMC experience. She ran an Independent's Trophy bid in 2020. Her results weren't earth shattering. However, they were far from terrible, especially when you consider the quality of the equipment she was running.
When asked why she was interested in joining the Nomad's Mast said that "I think Master Cup was too big a leap for me, and it would be a better idea to take things slower for my career. I'll still run one off races in other series, and I have some big races I would like to attempt some day. However, for now I want to focus on something smaller. Especially since I want to settle down in life as well. Also, I really enjoyed my time in New Hampshire last year."
Mast reportedly is looking for support from another team. However, she has the experience to fly solo if need be.

Re: RROL NOMAD
I’m planning on opening up 2020 sign-ups on Wednesday the 11th, with the aim of getting the new season started on the week following Easter (April 12th).
Over the next week I’d like to hear from returning teams and learn what their 2020 plans are - this can be a post here in this thread or you can reach out to me privately. Some of you have done this already and I appreciate that.
I’d like to release a more user-friendly version of the Faber Acromion template, which will probably also feature some minor design tweaks.... that is what I’ll be working on this week with the goal of being able to post the updated template for download when sign ups are opened.

Re: RROL NOMAD
A few things for 2020....
- There will be a maximum of 36 entries per round.
- I'm thinking 25-30 full-time entries. We started 2019 with 28 and picked a couple more along the way, but I suspect some of the full-timers do not return. (There are a few people I haven't seen or heard anything from in a long time.)
Re: RROL NOMAD
48 Timber has today announced, from their headquarters in Eighty Four, Pennsylvania, they will return to the RROL NOMAD in 2020. In a not-so-surprising move, Charlie Burroughs, who won a race driving for the team at Dover International Speedway will drive the car.
Jerry Richson confirms 2020 NOMAD return
At the 2020 Drivers with Indigestion Committee meeting, Jerry Richson has confirmed he will return to the NOMAD with sponsorship from Pepto-Bismol and Taco Bell. Rumors suggest that he may have fiVe BELoW as an associate sponsor to troll Mike Falls; however, Richson did not comment on the situation, and then quickly made his way to a restroom.
Re: RROL NOMAD
I was hoping for more of a response than what I've seen so far.... but here we go.
Sign ups for the 2020 RROL NOMAD season are open.
(This series should somewhat resemble the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour.)
Please declare whether you will be painting this car or if you will need someone to paint it for you. An updated version of the Faber Acromion (spec chassis) for 2020 will be posted soon.
Confirmed entries will appear on the 2020 RROL NOMAD TMPedia page. If you see your entry here, you are in.

Re: RROL NOMAD
Drive Di Nero is returning to the NOMAD division in 2020 with another part-time bid.
Alex LaRosa, who drove in the RROL/VSCC years ago, will drive car #22 (it ran in 4 races in 2019 as #88 with Charlie Burroughs). The team is likely to stick with Lenard, and a sponsorship deal is supposedly in the works.
Deric Di Nero has applied for the team to compete at Rockingham, New Hampshire, Thompson, and Dover.

Slight addition to this news.... the Di Nero team has relocated its headquarters from the Shawinigan, Quebec area of Canada to Watkins Glen, New York in the United States. Not sure what the motivating factor is for this decision, but team owner Deric Di Nero has Italian, Canadian, and American citizenship.

Re: RROL NOMAD
At this time, I am closing full-time sign ups. I am still going to accept part-time entries going forward. There will also most likely be an opportunity for one-off entries at New Hampshire.
Currently there are 27 full-time entries and 7 part-time entries signed up. I am accepting up to 36 entries for each race.
Here's the entry list count for each race so far:

Re: RROL NOMAD
We are getting closer to the 2020 season starting and I'd like to have all paint schemes (TGA format) by one week from today - that's April 14th. I have the 2020 paint schemes for 24/36 entries - one of those I know I will be painting.
I roll with a standard policy of: if I don't hear from someone about their entry, I am not waiting for them; however, if they have at least requested their car be painted (to me personally or here on the forum), then I will make sure their car is painted and is a part of the series.
If anyone needs help, reach out to me personally.

Re: RROL NOMAD
My work schedule for this week has changed so I’ve had to bump my plans for starting the season back by just a bit. However, the season-opener will likely be run this weekend.
I’ve got all but 2 paint schemes finalized. One of which I am working on myself and seeking approval of the paint scheme from the user who created the entry. The other is being painted by a different user and I’ve communicated with them and their paint scheme is in the works.

Re: RROL NOMAD
RROL officials unveil 2020 NOMAD technical specifications, slight point system change
In an effort to create an engine package that can be used universally for each round of the 2020 season, the RROL NOMAD cars will race with tapered spacer restrictor plates. An addition to the implementation of the tapered spacer, the engines will now feature a four-barrel carburetor rather than a two-barrel carburetor. Officials didn't supply specific data, but indicated this engine package would produce at least 600 HP.
There is also one minor change to the point scoring system. There is only one difference between the 2019 and 2020 system - in 2020 only green flag laps lead will be counted. This will be applied to the leader bonus and will replace the laps lead statistic in tie-breaking scenarios. In other words, if a driver only leads under caution, the laps lead under caution will not be counted. A green flag lap will be considered any lap that was at least partially green, and resulted in a "race" to the start/finish line.

Fallout from Klein Racing incident; suspension and sponsorship loss for Diaz
As a result of what appeared to be intentional contact with her teammate, Mercedes Diaz has been given a 3-race suspension by the Klein Racing, LLC team. It was also announced that the primary sponsor for Diaz, Coverup Paints, chose to immediately end their agreement with the team.
A representative from Klein Racing, LLC stated that the team is “extremely disappointed” with what happened on-track between their drivers and the loss of the Coverup Paints sponsorship. Diaz is set to return in car #18 at Burlington Raceway.

Burroughs: "I'm here to win a championship"
After leading the final 18 laps at Rockingham Speedway and collecting the win in the second race of the 2020 RROL NOMAD season, Charlie Burroughs declared his intentions in victory.
"I'm here to win a championship," stated the 25 year-old Canadian. "I have this opportunity with a great team made up of awesome people who are excellent at what they do - and I intend to make the most of that."
In seven NOMAD starts, Charlie Burroughs has won twice, and only finished outside the top-10 twice (once due to a DNF). Currently in 2020, Burroughs trails only Frank Azzaretto in the points championship with two races in the books.
