It's about damn time NASCAR did this...
...but is it too little, too late?
Personally, I'm glad they FINALLY decided to do what fans have been clamoring for for how many years now? Hopefully, it'll give the up and coming drivers a chance to finally shine. I just fear that irreparable damage has already been done to the Xfinity Series, but I guess we'll wait and see what happens.
Also, I think they need to lower the number of races Cup drivers are allowed by a little more than the rule says, but it's a good start.
Now, if they would just get rid of the Chase, we'd be freaking set, and maybe... just maybe... I'd come back to NASCAR. But not until then.
That being said, good job, NASCAR. First good decision in a long while.

Doesn't mean a damn thing.
a.) trucks really didn't need as Kyle and Kevin really aren't into running Trucks anymore.
b.) Xfinity is still going to be the same old Gibbs vs Penske show with occasional cameos by CGR and JRM.
c.) Penske could still theoretically run its three cup drivers for 10 races each and have another washed up Canadian driver runt he road courses, thus not changing a damn thing.
Sorry but I guess I'm just being cynical, plus I think we've come mostly to the consensus that its the cup teams not the cup drivers that are the issue. (See Point a.) )

It's another step in the right direction, they couldn't ban them wholesale as a step 2. They have to gradually scale back cup involvement in order to maintain viewership but most importantly sponsorship. I expect them to continue to scale it back moving forward, but slowly. I think this is the best decision NASCAR has made in some time.

Agreed that Trucks doesn't need it but NXS needed it desperately. Hopefully this does a lot of good for driver development as teams might have to look at hiring different drivers for their NXS teams.
Only problem I see with it is the 5 years experience rule. That seems quite a bit too high for me, personally. I'd have capped it at two or three years Cup experience so you don't have Kyle Larson and Austin Dillon killing the field over and over.

Re: It's about damn time NASCAR did this...
Part of me wants to believe this, the other part does not. I'm kind of conflicted on this matter. I was so turned off by this Kyle Busch shitshow over the last few years. This doesn't change my choice to not watch NASCAR just because a rule was changed to appeal to the young guns in NCWS and NXS. It's too far washed out thanks to a few Xfinity and Truckwhackers. This should have been in place a long time ago. Kinda too far too late, NASCAR for this to be in effect.
