Iowa Corn 300 - IndyCar

4 races remaining in the Verizon IndyCar Series. Juan Pablo Montoya is closing in on a 2nd career open-wheel championship, but Dixon, Rahal, Castroneves and Power are looking to decrease Montoya's advantage at the Iowa Speedway, a short oval in the cornfields of Iowa.

Andretti Autosport has won the last 5 races overall at this racetrack with RHR winning here last year. Can they come back to winning form?

The race is Saturday at 8 pm on NBCSN.

Wow! American 1-2-3-4. This was a really good race, and the Iowa Speedway seemed pretty full too. That Karam-Carpenter battle was crazy. RHR looks as happier to win this thing than any race other than the 500.

Good win RHR. That was a pretty good race. And the championship just got interesting. A 7.0/10.

Good race. Wanted Newgarden to get the win by don't mind RHR after the crap year he's had.

I may get blasted for this but, I really hate Sage Karam. He is probably the one driver I hate more then any other driver in auto racing. He has proven he is overly aggressive, (some have told me he is just a rookie making rookie mistakes) but he also never takes any responsibility for anything he has ever done. I am surprised Carpenter didn't knock his you-know-what all the way back to Nazareth.

And then in his post race interview, he pretty much said Ed Carpenter was being a baby. When Karam was pretty much squeezing Carpenter all over the track.

My thoughts on the Iowa Corn 300 @ Iowa:

Well, it's about damn time, Hunter-Reay.

After being invisible for pretty much the entire season, he finally breaks back into victory lane, and Andretti Autosport continues its dominance at Iowa Speedway, with six wins in a row, although they had to work for this one.

And now, once again, there's something I have to get off my chest.

After watching that confrontation with Sage Karam, I've lost a bit of respect for Ed Carpenter, in all honesty. Yes, Sage was a bit loosey-goosey those last few laps, but he was driving his heart out and it got him his first podium, and after the craptastic year he's had, that podium was something he sorely needed. And Carpenter had the unmitigated gall to say that Sage needs to grow up? From where I was sitting, Sage just sat there and let Ed speak his words and didn't say anything in retaliation, and Ed had to resort to cussing to get his point across. I know that Sage was a bit of a wrecking ball earlier this year, but he has really improved over the last few races.

Of course, he might also be salty that Sage is on the podium and he's not. Seems to me that Carpenter needs to take his own advice and grow the f**k up. I'm probably alone in that aspect, but it's how I feel.

That's because Carpenter was being baby, and he needed his diaper changed badly.

You got beat, Carpenter. Sprout a sack and get over it. He could've put you in the wall, but he didn't, and he didn't even touch you. You probably would've done the same thing if you were in his shoes, so stop crying like a little bitch because he raced you hard. Really surprised at the troubles a lot of the championship contenders had, from Juan Pablo Montoya going out of the race on Lap 9, to Scott Dixon having mechanical issues, Tony Kanaan having what appeared to be the fastest car over the weekend, only to have his weekend end with a mechanical failure as well.

The drive of the night was definitely Graham Rahal. I know a lot of people on this forum don't like the guy, but you've gotta tip your cap to the effort he put in tonight. Twice, he was laps down and even had gearbox problems, and for him to come home with a top 5 is incredible, and he's rewarded by moving into 2nd place in the championship, the highest he's ever been. Of course, Montoya still has a pretty solid points lead with three races to go, but after tonight, anything's possible.

My rating for the 2015 Iowa Corn 300 @ Iowa:

Very entertaining race, and the championship battle has gotten very interesting with a lot of the title contenders having trouble. This race gets a very solid 7.5/10. IndyCar just continues to pump out entertaining races.

Next up, IndyCar heads to my home state for a weekend at Mid-Ohio. If only I could go...

The issue with Karam is, he drives like this every week.

In all honesty, he reminds me of a "new age" Eddie Cheever, and that is probably why I dislike him. Because he comes across as arrogant every time I hear him talk.

Don't forget Sonoma is double points, at least I think it is.

I just realised something. I remember after Fontana, Carpenter said something along the lines of like,"Race or retire", especially after all the tears that Will Power cried out as well. I think Carpenter truly contradicted himself last night, whining about being raced hard by someone like Karam's who trying to make a name for himself in IndyCar. I guess Ed's logic just doesn't add up.

Graham and Ed both need to calm down. I can see why they're a big mad at Sage but there's no need to make a big deal in the press about it. If you don't like someone's driving you can talk to them about it and settle things in a mature and civilized way. I get that doing that can be hard when there's cameras following you around but still...I don't like how Carpenter and Rahal are going about this, and I consider myself a Rahal fan.

Graham needs to shut the hell up. He caused way more stupid incidents back then. What a hypocrite.

And Ed should also as well. He just went back on his words after Fontana. I like him, but come on.

All Sage was doing was he's racing. He driving hard. That is what he's supposed to do. I know people are aggravated after Detroit, myself included, but he has improved lately. Honestly, why do drivers nowadays bitch about other people's driving? It's not needed. If you don't like it, then go home.
