2014 Federated Auto Parts 200

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards makes its second stop of the year in Michigan on Saturday night, this time at the 7/16-mile, near-circular Berlin Raceway in the town of Marne.
Erik Jones took the win in his home race last season in Venturini's #15 Toyota Camry, and the driver of that car for this season, John Wes Townley, will be back behind the wheel this weekend following a heavy crash during qualifying last week at Pocono that forced him to sit out the rest of that weekend.
Speaking of Pocono, the ARCA Racing Series' newest race winner, Justin Allison, will not be racing this weekend. Current championship runner-up Grant Enfinger will be the only representative of GMS Racing in the race, as Spencer Gallagher will not be partaking in this event, either. Enfinger will be continuing to try to chase down Mason Mitchell and take over the points lead.

- Roulo Brothers Racing has Kyle Weatherman in the #60, and local driver Thomas Woodin in the #99
- another local driver, Jeff MacZink (who raced for his own team at MIS last season), is in the Venturini Motorsports #66
- Chris Bailey is in the Kimmel Racing #68
In other news, Ken Schrader will be making his first start at the Berlin Raceway in about 15 years.
Also, this will be the second ARCA race that I am attending, as well as my first visit to Berlin!

In addition, two more cars were added. Brian Norton will be the driver of a second Hylton car, the #49, while Wayne Peterson will add a third car, the #00. Peterson will drive the #00 while Barry Fitzgerald will drive the #06.

- Race Summary:
- - Mason Mitchell won the Menards Pole Award, but outside-pole-sitter Grant Enfinger took the lead on the opening lap.
- The #66 of Jeff MacZink and the #68 of Chris Bailey were 2 of the 5 drivers that parked in the first 10 laps.
- Thomas Praytor spins and backs the #2 car into the wall to bring out the first caution on lap 54.
- Justin Boston passes Enfinger for the lead on lap 111. Enfinger drops back to 4th.
- Under the third caution (which was brought out for a lapped car spinning), Enfinger passes Boston on pit road, but Karl Weber in the #3 stays out and leads to the restart on lap 128, and quickly falls out of the top 10.
- With about 60 laps to go, Mason Mitchell makes contact with the left-rear of Tom Hessert. An upset Hessert blatantly attempts to wreck the #98 on the backstretch on the following lap. While Mitchell keeps his car under control, he falls from 5th to 9th.
- The 5th and final caution is brought out for another lapped car spinning. Following the restart with about 40 laps to go, Enfinger proceeds to open up a huge lead over 2nd-place Austin Wayne Self, who is also very far ahead of 3rd-place Justin Boston. Throughout the final 40 laps, Brennan Poole (subbing for John Wes Townley in the #15), Tom Hessert, Kyle Weatherman, Frank Kimmel, J.J. Haley, Mason Mitchell, and Ken Schrader battle for the 4th position.
- With about 10 laps to go, Justin Boston makes contact with a lapped car and spins in turn 4. The caution does not come out, and Boston falls from 3rd to 5th, and eventually drops back to 7th by the end of the race.
- Grant Enfinger laps everyone who is not in the top 8 (including Mitchell and Schrader) and goes unchallenged in the final 72 laps of the race to win the 2014 Federated Auto Parts 200 at the Berlin Raceway. It is his 5th victory of the 2014 season, and his first for GMS Racing.
