Just a question, what version of the track are they going to use?

You mean the F1 1997-2003 layout, or the layout that goes further into the woods!

Wikipedia only shows the previous F1 layout.

Re: F1 makes a good decision, will return to Austria in 2014
The pre-1996 layout was roughly the shape of the current one. Rindt and Bosch were tightened and the big woods section (Castrol Chicane and Dr. Tiroch Kurve) were bypassed. The old Forest section is 100% still there, so it could be opened. Red Bull has the money so it could happen.
Its great to see a classic track back on the schedule.
Whatever happened to bringing back the Mexico City track to F1?

Intresting to see how this plays out. Always liked A1 ring on the older F1 games.

Although it was dangerous, that layout was brilliant. Sadly though we'll be subjected to the horrific modern track design that is so common in F1.Milan655 wrote:1980 Austrian Grand Prix qualifying-Jochen Mass and his Arrows

No video, but a description is available:
Here's another great view of Austria in the 80s, the circuit having grass banks around it-a proper "natural" track
http://itsawheelthing.tumblr.com/ wrote:Jochen Mass’ Arrows A3, or what is left of it, after it ran off the track during qualifying, it spun round several times & ended up in a corn field besides the circuit
Mass, luckily, got away with only some bruises

Question is, which one of the 20 GP's get the axe?!? Or will they decide to bump it to 21 races?!?

I heard the provisional schedule was 22 races. That's what Sky Sports said, anyway

So 2014 sees the expected arrival of the Russian, Austrian and GP NJ, with 2015 also expecting Thailand.

Re: F1 makes a good decision, will return to Austria in 2014
This bit is irrelavent but interesting: A group of people from Malta are working to revive and rebuild the old Mallaha Lake track in Libya (I believe that the airport that was build where the paddock was is closing). It seemed to have stalled around 2011 but new information has been popping up as of late. Not an F1 race but maybe AutoGP?
It seems like it's going to be Bahrain 2.0 with all the unrest there but if the political situation stabilizes it could be cool.

I'm looking at Wikipedia, and they have 21 (USA, America, Abu Dhabi, Austria, Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Britain, Canada, China, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, South Korea, Malaysia, Monaco, Russia, Singapore, Spain), where does the 22nd come in play?!?

That's not on the schedule, as I can see right now, since Valencia and Barcelona are supposed to share the Spanish GP

22 would be Japan, having noticed that it's not on your list.

Well like I said, I went off of what Wikipedia had posted, so maybe that is it, and all that needs to be done is to formalize some things

Re: F1 makes a good decision, will return to Austria in 2014
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see both India and Korea lose their dates, seeing as neither of them have been very popular venues. India's date is being threatened by tax problems again, and Korea has just been terrible all the way around. If both of those dates are gone, that would leave 20 races on the calendar, which is the exact number that Ecclestone wants to have.PYLrulz wrote:Wizzie wrote:PYLrulz wrote:navycook75 wrote:New Jersey and Russia.PYLrulz wrote:Ben Atkins wrote:PYLrulz wrote:Question is, which one of the 20 GP's get the axe?!?
