Should we really be surprised by this? I wonder when's the last year of their contract between F1 and Bahrain is because I hope this year will be the last time they'll ever race there.

That race didn't take place during the anniversary of Arab Spring.Alpineopossum wrote:The WEC race was fine...
Re: 2013 F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix
Well I guess sticking the majority of F1 races in third world countries seems like a great idea now Bernie, oh wait you only care about money, I must have forgot. It would be nice to see the Tilkedromes slowly drop from the calendar, but sadly they'll probably continue trying to act like nothing has happened until someone is killed.AntmanB wrote:And Guess What............... But its an interesting point to bring up. What is it about F1 that makes these people want to protest but not WEC?

For one, few people pay attention to the WEC.

More attention and the timing. The F1 race is, as Chives2112 said, on the anniversary of the Arab Spring. Imagine if the American Revolution failed and the British began holding events on July 4th.

Also of note is that Alexander Rossi is taking over Ma Quingha's Seat in GP2. This also means that we'll see Hekki Kovalinen in FP1 here and in Barcelona and Rossi will make his first FP1 appearence in Canada(here was supposed to debut here)AntmanB wrote:Should mention that the gp2 feature will be shown on NBC sports network Saturday at 4 eastern.

But Robin Frijns is a seriously good driver, he has the talent to be in F1 but he doesn't really have a whole lot of money. So the opposite of Gideo Van de Garde

Daly was never signed to run the full season. He said himself that he's probably going back to GP3 with ART(Formerly Lotus).Alta wrote:>Daly canned after first GP2 race

Rosberg on pole, Vettel 2nd with Alonso 3rd. Rosberg's teammate Hamilton qualified 4th but drops to 9th as a result of a five-place grid penalty for I believe changing suspension after his incident in Practice earlier.

The Hamilton penalty was for a rebuild and replacement of the gearbox.

Bullshit. He's making an attempt to look "politically correct" in order to disguise his thirst for money. Pathetic.

This. He was the complete opposite last year. He didn't care about a damn thing what was going on. He wanted it run no matter what. It sounds like it could be the last year Bahrain will be hosting an F1 GP for quite some time.

Also, Alexander Rossi had 3rd position in the GP2 feature race in his first start since 2010.

Admittedly that counts for rather little given that this is the pretty much the least talented GP2 field ever.

Well, Fabio Leimer and Felipe Nasr seem good, but I would agree the majority are quite hapless.

The fact that Leimer is the best driver there is exactly the problem. I gave Valsecchi and Razia tons of flak for doing little prior to 2012, which coincided with a lot of talent leaving GP2. Leimer did little in 2012, and absolutely nothing before then, so him being the dominant driver in GP2 underlines just how little talent there is.

It'd be nice to see him get a job in the technical department of Red Bull. That way he could destroy the team from the inside for screwing him around.bigdc48 wrote:Milan655 wrote:Just to point out, I've heard Raikkonen to Red Bull is confirmed for 2014

God, the World Feed needs a new director. Missing Perez passing Webber for 6th on the final lap.

At 33, he nears the end of his career and also why stay at Lotus when you have the ability to have the best car on the grid? With Kimi's talent and experience, there's no way that he would let the team fully side with Vettel.

Re: 2013 F1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix
The team has already sided with Vettel. That's just how they operate. There's nothing Kimi can do about that. Besides, it's not like Lotus are awful, he's already won a race and is a solid championship contender with them. Plus, I doubt he could stomach all the PR rubbish that Red Bull does. That's why he left F1 in the first place.Milan655 wrote:RetrogradeRenegade wrote:Milan655 wrote:RetrogradeRenegade wrote:Milan655 wrote:Just to point out, I've heard Raikkonen to Red Bull is confirmed for 2014
