Canon Series with F1 Points

For this I will use the 10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 System.

I started with 2012 TM Lights because it is the only series that doesn't have any part time cars, making it easier. And the results are somewhat similar to the real championship. Troy Adams, Cameron Taylor, and Ike Durbin remain the major contenders, but it is a lot closer. In the real standings, Adams is 82 points ahead of Taylor who is 20 ahead of Durbin.

Even if my driver wasn't leading the standings under this system, I still like it. The top 6 cars are within ten points of the lead and with four races to go, everyone in the field is mathematically eligible for the title.

Bumping this thread because I'm genuinely interested in how it all turns out. =]

2007:

The First race of 2007 was at Daytona and there was a very close finish between Cyrus LaTerza and Matt Smith. Many of the usual contenders weren’t in the top eight not because they DNF’d (because I believe that no-one did) but because they were held up by Leroy Brittain. Manny Brown was third.

Race Two was at the North Carolina Speedway. Early in the race there was a number of pretty epic saves after the field went five wide on the frontstretch. LaTerza and Smith bumped into each other. A few laps later Ryan Nawrocki crashed into his teammate (Lyons) and ended up causing an accident. Nawrocki later hit Tony Durbin and Steve Marshall. Durbin and Jon Broughton flipped. James Dalton pulled away from the field. Dalton ran out of gas with two to go. Leonid Roderick inherited the lead at won. There was a weird post race accident involving Rachel Rainsford, Ryan Hearne, and Lorne Roth. It is notable that both Roderick and Alexis Rainsford ran special schemes. Roderick’s was “Save the Rock” and Rainsfords was a promo for the Michael Moore film Sicko.

Chicagoland Speedway was next. Roderick, Smith, Evans, and Delgado were all involved in accidents early. Tony Durbin pulled away out front. LaTerza was in a wreck, continuing a chain of bad luck that started at Rockingham. Durbin was being chased by (at this point) the Rainsford sisters and Louis Kingston. Kingston took over the lead and was clocking the fastest laps. Nosova was a leading contender but suffered a late engine failure. Durbin made a daring pass on Kingston on the last lap to win.

Following Chicagoland the series headed overseas to a race in France. Anthony Evans was on pole. James Dalton was taken out in a spectacular accident in which he flipped and almost hit Damien Snyder. Notable was the fact that road course ringer Esme Rousseau (part owner of Majestic Motorsports if I’m not mistaken) was running up front in Ian Cooper’s #7. Rousseau made a three wide pass for the lead but was unable to take it initially but eventually took the lead. Hodges and Rachel Rainsford took a pit road gamble, as did Alexis and Anthony Evans. As this occurred, Justin Brooks and Eric Jackson spun into the grass. Lorne Roth lost an engine. Evans and Alexis lead on the restart as Jackson was spun again. Not long after Sandoval and Craig Cross spun after being hit by Savin. During this caution road course ringer Franz Redlich (who was driving Jack Cronin’s #89) retired after blowing an engine. Jerry Luther made a charge to the top five and found himself surrounded by women with McGlynn, Rainsford, Rousseau, and Nosova. At this point you can see why this race made history: The first female winner in the history of the TMMC won her first race today. Alexis Rainsford pulled away while Luther battled with McGlynn. The rain was too heavy and the race was called with 19 to go. Rainsford won followed by Luther, McGlynn, Nosova, and Rousseau. Four of the top five were women.

The drama in Peoria came before the green flag flew when Alexis Rainsford wrecked Tony Durbin in practice, leading to a massive crash on the historic Peoria Speedway. Rainsford was suspended for the race. Leonid Roderick was on the pole with Troy Griffith. Kevin Colley started drove like a bat out of hell and took the lead. Snyder, who was in the field instead of Rainsford, ran up front. Also running well was rookie James Parkes. Jerry Luther was in a minor crash with Marshall (who’s championship defense was going terribly). Luther held up the leader, Kevin Colley, for a while. Colley pulled out a huge lead and he was way faster than the field. But Luther held him up on a restart and Durbin took over the lead. Durbin pulled away but Palmer Stiles closed on him. Durbin held him off and won. Kevin Colley, who would’ve won if it wasn’t for Jerry Luther’s antics was third.

The TMMC headed to Massachusetts for a race at the Delano Superspeedway. Steve Marshall (who was known for success here) took the pole. A major accident occurred involving Sam Morel, Palmer Stiles, Stephanie McGlynn, Matt Taylor, Stuart Sandoval, Steve Marshall (who landed on his roof), Dale Roswell, Brian Sendack, Lorne Roth, and Anthony Evans. Irishmen Tom Levin lead on the restart but fell back. Nick Phillip and Marcos Leonard were debutant drivers and the Candian / Sealander took the lead. Nosova, Peterson, and Joel Rodriguez were involved in a crash. Peterson rolled his car. Kurt Plissken (then driving for what became Camelot Racing) lead on the restart. But Roderick and James Dalton passed him. Cronin and Leonard took the front and Cronin lead until Ryan Nawrocki passed him. A late race debris caution left him in front and he was pulling away when Savin spun. Sam Morel challenged Nawrocki, but Manny Brown dove to pass Morel and Nawrocki won.

The midpoint race of 2007 was at Karjala. Nosova and Rainsford made it a Jeff Cesnik Racing front row. Damien Snyder had steering issues and hit Delgado and Ada coming to the green. Rainsford and Nosova exchanged the lead. Levin was having a strong run and began to challenge for a top five. Nosova pulled away. Debris appeared and caused a caution. Tom Levin got a INCREDIBLE restart and Levin and Troy Griffith passed the Cesnik cars. Levin was passed by Nosova. Snyder and James Lombardi were in a crash but there was not caution. Levin retook the lead and pulled away but Nosova closed the gap but repassed the Irishmen. Nosova pulled away and was unable to be caught and took here first victory.

There are quite a few drivers in here who would become big later in their careers: Kingston, Delgado, and Nosova for example. There were others who are rather forgotten today: Justin Brooks, Craig Cross, Ryan Hearne, and Manny Brown to name but four.
