2011 Irwin Tools Night Race - Sprint Cup Series
For the 2nd year in a rowq, the race will not be shown here in houston due to the texans game - like the race will be that good anyways.
Entry List to be Posted by B Boy Later Today.
ABC alternative TV coverage of Bristol race - NFL games affects some markets: WKRN, Nashville's News 2, will NOT air the Bristol Sprint Cup race due to Tennessee Titans preseason game against the Chicago Bears. The NASCAR race at Bristol on August 27, 2011 will air on ESPN 2 from 6:30pm to 10:00 pm/et [assuming that is just local Nashville for ESPN2].(wkrn.com)
MORE: Due to some ABC affiliates carrying telecasts of NFL pre-season football games or other programming on Saturday night, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Bristol will air regionally on ESPN2 in eight markets: Nashville, Tenn.; Duluth and Rochester, Minn.; Phoenix; Casper, Wy.; Sioux Falls and Rapid City, S.D.; and Weslaco, Tex. In Houston, the race will air on the local ABC affiliate's digital tier station.(ESPN)(8-22-2011)
Special 'dental' scheme for Edwards at Bristol: When the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series circuit hits Bristol Motor Speedway in August, two-time Bristol winner #99-Carl Edwards will pilot the bright blue and white #99 Aflac Dental Ford Fusion during the Irwin Tools Night Race. See an image of the scheme on my #99 Team Schemes page.(8-22-2011)
Realtree to sponsor four cars at Bristol: Realtree Camouflage Designer and President Bill Jordan announced sponsorship on four different Chevrolet Sprint Cup cars atthe August 27 Bristol Night Race. Look for Realtree's new Antler Logo in the primary sponsor position on Richard Childres. Racing's #29 Realtree/Bad Boy Buggies car, driven by Kevin Harvick; Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing's #1 Bass Pro Shops car, driven by Jamie McMurray; and Stewart-Hass Racing's #14 and #39 cars, piloted by Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman, respectively. "All of us at Realtree are excited to have such a big presence at one of NASCAR's most prestigious races of the year," said Jordan. "Of course, this race comes at a time of year when hunters are really getting fired up about the fall. It's amazing how many of our fans are passionate about both racing and hunting. And many of the drivers feel the same way. In fact, three of the guys we're sponsoring at Bristol& Harvick, Stewart and Newman& have hunted with me and the Realtree cameras many times, and McMurray is an avid outdoorsman too. For many years now, Realtree, Chevrolet and NASCAR have been partners in connecting fans to the outdoors, and just recently we all teamed up with Outdoor Channel to bring fans 'Realtree's NASCAR Outdoors'. The show has been a huge success. Fans really enjoy seeing their favorite drivers on hunts, and drivers and others from around the NASCAR garage are strong ambassadors for the outdoors. It really is a fun project for everyone involved, including the fans."(Realtree), see an image of the #29 scheme on my #29 Team Schemes page.(8-22-2011)

Again, not concerned about Toyota. Wake me when Jack Roush's unnecessary predictions of doom and gloom actually come true

1. Anybody suggest a hit job on Keselowski's ankle once it heals?
2. Anybody think if Jimmie Johnson did what Keselowdki did on pit road would claim that it is proof NASCAR is favoring him?!?
Because it wasn't a demo derby?!?
Wasn't that bad of a race, besides, everybody would be whining that there would be too much single file racing with the old banking.

Well, if Brad can keep up the consistency he could be a dark horse to win the whole Chase.

Then why didn't anyone do it before?
Realistically, Bristol should keep the progressive banking, but raise the degree toward the lower end of the track by a few degrees, because right now the high line is way too strong. Anyone on Teamspeak who saw the 30-lap Gordon/Truex battle knows there is evidence to back that up.

i agree with nascarboy to a certain extent, but since its a short track you need to be care ful the low side doesnt become as strong in ratio as a place like martinsville where you basically know whats going to happen.

To all the people saying this race was boring, I don't think it was. The drivers found it hard to get around other cars. It took Jeff Gordon three laps to get around one car. At least PRN made it sound a lot more exciting then it may have been.

AMEN.
the attendance was 156,000, up 1k from 2010 and also meaning only about 4,000 seats remained unsold. at least nascar fans care about the classics still...
Re: 2011 Irwin Tools Night Race - Sprint Cup Series
Brad K is on a roll. All I have to say is watch out.
Anyways, I give a shoutout to Truex additionally.

Re: 2011 Irwin Tools Night Race - Sprint Cup Series
NASCAR plans more scoring loops at Bristol: Bristol Motor Speedway is unique among NASCAR Sprint Cup tracks in that it has two separate pit roads - one along each straightaway. That alignment does not fit well with NASCAR's modern method of pitting, which includes strict pit-road speeds and an attempt to make pit stops and the entrance to and exit from the pits as equal as possible. That was not the case in Saturday night's Irwin Tools Night Race at the track. Race winner Brad Keselowski and others appeared to benefit from the location of their pits, giving them more room to move faster in certain sections of pit road. Other pit spots were not as advantageous. NASCAR Sprint Cup Series director John Darby admitted after the race that the situation was not ideal and said NASCAR will address it. "We understand what happened, and we're already looking at it," he said. "We'll probably put in two more scoring loops on each side of pit road." Darby's intent is to add loops on the Bristol surface, thus providing a closer read on speeds. Based primarily on their pit locations, some drivers were positioned to "speed" along portions of pit road, then quickly hit their brakes before being detected. Additional loops should take care of that discrepancy.(SPEED)(8-28-2011)
How much you want to bet that if it were Busch or Johnson, they wouldn't say anything.

Great to see Jamie have a gold, strong run. I thought he'd have a shot to win. But those last pit stop shenanigans kinda of threw off those hopes. Also props to Brad K, if he can keep this up, he will be a threat come chase time.
