Indy 250 - Nationwide Series Empty Indy 250 - Nationwide Series

Post by BBoy Mon Jul 23, 2012 1:48 am

It's time for the inaugural race at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the NASCAR Nationwide Series! Since the Nationwide Series came to life in 1982, the series ran at the nearby Lucas Oil Raceway Park. However, now has come the time to change. Could there be a surprise or two in store like there were in the inaugural Sprint Cup race here in 1994? We'll have to find out this Saturday!

Regardless of whether of not the racing is good, the Nationwide cars should not have come to Indy.

Regardless of THAT, however, I may still watch the race out of sheer curiosity.

If anybody starts and parks they will have committed a cardinal sin in motor racing.

Like the people who start & park during the Brickyard 400 and Daytona 500 every year? You need to realize it's a part of racing now.

I went through some of the old Daytona records on Racing-Reference, and the only thing even looked like a S&P car was JJ Yeley blowing up in the #46 last year after 10 laps. That was a real engine failure though. At Indy, S&P's will happen. at last year's Brickyard 400, we had seven S&P cars, and in the Nationwide Series this year we've had at some races as many as 15 cars S&P in one race I think.

Actually, now that I think about it, 14 F1 drivers start and parked at Indy once...

I don't like the idea of Nationwides at Indy. A more positive result is that a whole bunch of nationwide drivers will now tell their grand kids that they raced at Indy. Having a family member who can say that [my dad ran there for the One Lap of America in the early 1990s], there's something special about that.

That wasn't a start and park situation, that was a protest. Michelin tires had problems during the entire weekend, and because the Pirelli tires did not have these problems, all the Michelin teams pulled into the paddock on the pace lap. Only six cars started the race. Schumacher won, with Barrichello as the only other car on the lead lap. Among the other drivers that ran was Narain Karthikeyan, who finished fourth, one lap down.

I think we know what the situation was at the 2005 US GP, you don't have to give us a history lesson. clown

I know. Morgan hasn't qualified for a race at the Brickyard since 1998, and he's made several attempts to get in the 400 when he was still running Cup since then.

Even though they're completely different cars, I think both Hornish Jr. and Danica have great chances of winning, solely on the fact that it's Indy.

The Nationwide cars are so slow that the fastest pole time from the Indy 500 that they are beating goes back to 1970 when Al Unser, Sr. won the pole at a speed of 170.221 mph.

Mike Harmon, who was slowest in both practices, is slower than 1964 pole time set by the late Jim Clark at a speed of 158.828 mph.

Anyway, I think the highlight of this race will be Marty Reid forgetting Andy Petree's name.

The only thing that I think was the fact in this was more than just Kyle went by. Hamlin did and Ty nearly got by himself. My first reaction was did Kasey have a problem, didn't know he didn't.

Of course it'll be bad when she does stupid s*** like that. I actually had people on my twitter timeline DEFENDING her. I have never shaken my head so much. Even Eury said "Put it on the truck. We never go back on the track after doing stupid stuff like that."

9th in the Busch series these days is no mean feat when, what, 12 people ran the whole schedule? The points don't reflect how bad she is, only 1 top 10 in that equipment should be a clear indication of her talent. And she's going to cup next year.

Nascar with a BS call. I don't care if Brad wins, I'm not calling him the winner period.

I've always hated that restart rule. If you don't go on the restart, you should be given the lead back period.

Terrible call by NASCAR. If that was Kyle Busch, that wouldn't be a black flag...

Oh wait, it wasn't -_-
