Driver's compartment held up well, though. I'm going to go ahead and say that's why he was able to walk away. The roll cage did its job well.

Yeah. Being that I raced legends for a couple of years and seeing this wreck literally blows my mind. I've never seen a legends car look as destroyed as this car. And it is a miracle that the driver walked away. I can only imagine what it must've been like sitting in that car and taking the kind of impact it did.

if i recall, board track racing fell out of popularity quickly due to the large numbers of spectators killed. it wasn't uncommon for motorcycles to make their way into the stands during a crash

that and the cost of keeping the wooden boards in good shape was considerable. I believe Arthur Chevrolet died in a crash on such a track.

many former Indy 500 winners died on board tracks. here's the New York Times article on the crash that got the New Jersey Motordome shut down

I remember hearing about a board track in Oakland, I think. It had over 60 degrees of banking in the turns.

For those that didn't get to see it, this is the K&N Pro Series East's visit to Columbus Motor Speedway last year...

I like how Rick Allen says there's no precipitation expected. Ha! No precipitation, my a**. It started raining pretty good at the very end of the race, about 20 laps left, yet they managed to get through it.

This race is back on the schedule for the 2012 season. Yay! Laughing

For 22 bucks, you can't go wrong.

I know that New Jersey (my home state) unfortunately has the highest autism rate in the country, which was 1 in 93 or something, last I heard.

Every commercial I hear says different odds. 1 in 110 is the most common I've heard recently...however, autism diagnoses are going up; IMO not all "autistic" kids are autistic so I'm inclined to believe the 1 in 166 more

Idk how many of you guys watch Moto-X but I just found out Chad Reed isn't going to be racing for the rest of the season due to breaking 2 ribs, spinous T6, torn ACL, and a fractured fibia and tibia. The impact wasn't pretty.

That motor sounds strange for a V6, it almost sounds like a V12. The DW12's are now the offical, greastest thing Indycar has ever done. I can't wait to hear 26 DW12's scream around Texas and Fontana.

Here is it on Sebring. It sounds like Yamaha's early 90's Formula One motor.
