Lou Singer Racing announced that ABQ Speedbowl winner Mike "Knuckles" Malone will join their team for the remainder of the FARC Lowe Dollar Series season, replacing Aaron Singer in the #11 Singer Hotels & Casinos Inglesby following Singer's DUI arrest after the race at Texas Motor Speedway in May. Malone and the #11 team will be attempting the remainder of the LDS schedule with the exception of the race at Moncton, fulfilling Malone's goal to attempt enough races to be eligible for both the Lowe Dollar and Super Series championships.

While Aaron Singer awaits the hearing of his case, his father and team owner Lou Singer, Sr. elected to bench the seven-year FARC veteran in favor of the part-time driver and full-time owner of Knuckles' Sandwiches in Los Angeles. Knuckles' Sandwiches will co-sponsor the #11 along with Singer Hotels & Casinos, and will reportedly also begin serving sandwiches at Singer properties as part of the arrangement.

Originally scheduled to run just two races in the Lowe Dollar Series, Malone decided to press his luck after scoring his first Lowe Dollar Series win in Albuquerque. New sponsor Milton's Mustard backed his last second entry into the race at Texas, where he scored his second consecutive pole, only to blow his engine in the opening laps. Malone then repaired and entered his race-winning car at 70/77 Speedway in partnership with the struggling Team Burr, finishing tenth.

On the Super Series side, Malone followed up his Lowe Dollar victory with a win at Thunder Road to take the points lead, but then failed to qualify at Monadnock as technical issues prevented him from making a qualifying lap. "Knuckles" still manages to sit third in the points standings, but at a considerable disadvantage to points leaders Bobby and Hamilton Porteau.

"After that win at Albuquerque my season on both sides has had some ups and downs", said Malone during Super Series practice at Berlin Raceway. "But I still wanted to go for both titles, and this opportunity opened up with Lou Singer and I just had to take it. It takes a lot off my mind only having to build the cars for one team, now I can just focus on being the best damn driver in both serieses! Setbacks only make the hungry dogs hungrier! And if you're as hungry as I am, come on down to Knuckles' Sandwiches for the best damn sandwiches in LA!"
