African American driver to attempt Newport News?
Shanina Scales, a African American female driver from Newport News is looking into racing the Newport News race. Shanina has raced Late Models at the nearby Langley Speedway, and has raced an ARLA Street Stocks race (local, not regional) at Langley as well, where she finished 10th and led a lap in the process.
Shanina is also looking into running a full time schedule in FARCE next year.

Goshen's "Stupidity" Ends in 14th at Devil's Bowl
After a promising qualifying effort of 3rd for the first race of the 2013 FARCE Modified Series season at the Devil's Bowl Speedway in West Haven, Vermont, things went downhill rather quickly for Jared Goshen and his #00 Goshen Family Racing entry.
"Starting third was nice, but the inside line was garbage. We needed to be on the outside; that's where the grip was. So I had to rough up some people in order to get to the outside, and when I did, I had already lost 3 or 4 spots," said Goshen.
A little later on, Goshen would be collected in one of a couple of incidents during the race. The first incident was on lap 22, the third caution of the day when Miranda Leckliter and Wade Warren collected each other in turn 2. Goshen, with nowhere to go, plowed through Warren, sending the 4X of Warren down into the bowl. Goshen would continue on.
However, his second incident was one of the more controversial moments of the Devil's Bowl 100. After a restart for the 4th caution of the day, Goshen, starting at the rear-end of the field, plowed into the back of Miranda Leckliter, effectively ending her day in what the commentators proclaimed as "absolute stupidity on the part of Jared Goshen". Further up the track, and scary flip by Frank Zarrow in turn 2 near the pit lane drew the 5th caution of the day.
"I guess it was my fault, but when you have the whole field stacking up in front of you trying to funnel down into a single groove, you don't really have anywhere to go. But, it's still my fault, I guess. Kinda hard to slow down when the field backs up into you while they're running at about 15 mph and your running a race pace. Just saying," retorted Goshen who was referring to the incident involving Miranda Leckliter.
After a few more minor bumps throughout the end of the race, Goshen wound up 14th, still on the lap. With a disappointing 14th in the race, he also sits 14th in the overall season standings, 41 points behind points leader and race winner Cameron Sweetwater.

2013 Race 2: Montgomery
Amy Porter wins the pole for the Southern Revolution 100 at Montgomery with Rallen Hayden to her outside, Frank Zarrow, Ralph West and Kerry Ians rounding out the Top 5.
Here's last week's winner, Cameron Sweetwater, currently having a less-than-stellar run in 20th position. Sweetwater got a poor qualifying lap in, which relegated her to the back of the field.
Caution 1: Lap 4- Georgia Farr and Miranda Leckliter tangle, and Farr would get pushed down the backstretch by Scott Bell.
Under the yellow, Ralph West gets into Rallen Hayden, which in turn sends Hayden around... Interesting racing by West in the #87.
Coming to the restart, Lucas Sweeney has a flat tire, and has to pull into the pits, tough break for the ARLA regular.
More shenanigans heading towards the restart, Ralph West and Rallen Hayden are leaning on each other before the restart... this can only end well, RIGHT?
Porter leads them down to the restart... And they're wrecking behind them.
Caution 2: Lap 10- Predictably, Ralph West turns the 09 of Hayden around... These two are going to be such good friends after this race!
Under the caution, Isaac Lightener in the 71 loses a tire, causing that Pit Stop Donuts machine to head down pit road for four fresh Pyrock Tires.
Amy Porter would take the field to the green flag, with Frank Zarrow right behind her, Kerry Ians in third doesn't go quite as quickly as the front two.
Tim Sharp in the #52 becomes the next victim of Pyrock unreliability, as he as to pull the #52 down pit road for an emergency stop.
Alyson Wetherbee breaks down on the backstretch, ending the day due to a camshaft failure. Nobody would hit her, and the caution would not fly for this, surprisingly.
Lap 32, Erika Cobain is yet another victim of Pyrock's tires failing, causing the Mozilla crew to bring the 34 down pit road.
