A bit of eleventh-hour reform is coming to the NRC. To make a long story short, we will be switching mods, so anyone who has not painted their car yet, don't start on the LMPv2 template. For those of you that have, you may either re-paint it on the new templates or I am willing to redo them to limit the hassle. This will be on the IROC-87 mod. There was a reason that backed this change, but I really do apologize for the sudden change and the fact that it's so close to the deadline (which will be extended).

NRC to Use Omecha M14 in 2014

It had been originally intended that the National Racing Championship would run a body style similar to asphalt late models. Preparations had even been made for them. But then an interesting concept came up--a spec car being developed by Omecha that would run across multiple racing leagues and that would help reduce team costs even more than the proposed late model bodies. The end result? Officials jumped at it. The NRC will not be the only league running the M14, but will be unique with the engine providers and cosmetic specification. This body will replace the pre-2012 TM Master Cup body styles that the series ran, starting in the season opening race in Atlanta.

Team CTR Updates: Driver Lineup Partially Confirmed

While the driver of the #5 part-time car for Team CTR is now known (no surprises here, Lucas Bauer remains with the team), the team's full-time ride is less certain. What do we know is that Henrietta LaVerne is out; the team chose not to renew the option on her contract due to dwindling performance.

Jess Zander is thought to be the main contender for the ride. However, provided Team CTR is still on the TM Lights grid for 2014, Zander may replace her boyfriend Joe Olenick in that ride as he moves to the TM Master Cup series. CTR officials have emphasized that Zander getting a ride is their "highest priority" as she is their highest paid driver for the 2014 season. They have already announced that she will start the season opener in Atlanta regardless of her possible incursion into TM Lights.

If Zander moves to TM Lights, the team has announced that affiliated driver Sebastien Dubois will fill her seat after Atlanta; this signals a big change for Dubois, as he will look to rise through the ranks of stock car racing after several successful seasons in American prototypes, including an overall victory at the 2013 12 Hours of Texas race at Circuit of the Americas. Dubois has one start in the Tornado Alley Truck series to his credit, coming at the Memorial at Lime Rock Park.

Apparently there's been a little confusion on how things are going to work with the new templates. Here are a few pointers:

* The ignition decals are no longer mandatory. (The new paint kit doesn't have them, so if you haven't painted your car yet you can omit. If you did, and are in the process of converting your schemes over, leave it. It didn't make any difference anyway.)

* The driver name font is the same as what was provided in the paint kit with the LMPv2 stuff. We'd prefer you used it instead of your own, as it gives a more consistent look.

* Since the M14 is a spec car (like the Omechas are in Master Cup), please don't change the headlight/taillight decals. We've provided manufacturer logos for the major canon makes, and you are free to use whatever one you were planning on using on the LMPv2 car. It just won't look like one.

If there are any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks!

For clarification; the windshield names will be placed on the left side of the car like the example on the M14 template, correct?

This is just a friendly reminder that you have just over five days to send in cars and ratings, as cars are due Friday at 11:59.59 PM EST. If you need your car painted, remember to put up a request in the Request sub-forum. I'm also more than willing to paint your car and you can PM me if you want me to. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL FRIDAY NIGHT TO ASK ME TO PAINT YOUR CAR.

For the part-timers, I don't necessarily need a schedule, but if you want your driver to appear in specific races, please let me know. If you don't send me one, I'll put them in random events. Part-timers will be allowed six attempts not including Infineon and Rockingham.

I'm going to give everyone until 6:00 PM EST TOMORROW to get cars and ratings in for the first round. You can always send them in at a later time but the longer you wait, the more races your drivers will miss.

The boys and girls of the NRC took to the track at Atlanta for the season opener. Thirty-seven cars were on the original entry list, however the cars of Scott Jonathan, Robert Jeffers-Smith, Buetch Mayland, and Matt Shimoda all withdrew due to presumed lack of preparation, though this is not confirmed. Therefore, thirty-three cars would duke it out for thirty spots in a knockout qualifying session. Fifteen drivers came into the race locked in due to either finishing in the top fifteen in owner's points in 2013 or buying out owner's points from a non-returning team. Some teams ended up being locked in when the four aforementioned cars withdrew, as three of them (Shimoda, Mayland, and Jonathan) would have been locked in. Jeffers-Smith would have also been locked in had he shown up by virtue of the other three who were no-shows.

CJR misses First race of the year due to Tornado

Many were surprised to see that the now familiar cars of CJR were not present for the first race of the season. More mysteriously, no word had come about on what the situation was until now as according to one of CJR's drivers Buetch Mayland, The teams shop has suffered major damage due to a Tornado. "As I was on my way, I just saw the building getting ripped apart and many of the teams cars, transporters & spares being sucked up and thrown around" He said. "I was just in complete shock". Presently, the team are temporarily taking their remaining supplies to a local, recently abandoned repair shop until they getting everything settled. When asked how bad the damage is, Buetch not only told of the extent but also revealed that the team was actually in the process of moving to a bigger shop. "A Month ago, we were informed that we were gonna move to a bigger shop about 36 miles from here as it was just recently completed and approved. Now with this, its probably going to be a little while longer before we get things moving again and it'll be a tight squeeze to try and do this before the second race." Owner Camyron Jackson has not responded to any calls as of yet.

Between school and work, I'm struggling to find time to get NRC stuff out, honestly. But it will continue and there will be a 2015 season.

The 2014 season will be finished, but I don't have a set time frame for it. I've been spending 50+ hours a week at school and this week that number will rise to about 60 for the next few weeks.

I'm not sure about a 2015 season being run in NR and I may relegate 2015 to mention-only but I don't expect this to die just yet. Of course, things could change.
