Clairmont Q-Race 1
Results
Icy Frost [123] started on the pole and beat out Joe Olenick [34] to take the lead going through the first set of turns.
Josh Marshall [23], Ryan Hall [46], Jacob Jarrett, II. [27], Gary Steiner [44], Tom Vanezi [58], Brian Murray [10], and Ryan Matthews [75] all initially spun in the first set of turns... but Frank Stafford [28] spun as well after getting turned by Larry Hunter [88]. Stafford spun back onto the track and took out Malcolm Terez [33], who had nowhere to go.
A little further back, James Proctor [91] and Cameron Taylor [149] get together and drift into Jacob Jarrett, who is trying to get back on track. Taylor's car spins back in front of Amuro Ray [32], who would receive a lot of damage to the front of the car, and sends Adam Holden [1] spinning. Just in front of this, Jim More [65] turns Greg Johnson, Jr. [24] into the outside wall and More's car ends up careening into the wall as well. They would be joined by Holden.
Lorne Stevenson [715], apparently upset, turned Cameron Taylor as the two were driving away from the incident. Later in the lap, Stevenson was turned in basically the same manner by Mac Rhylen [86] out of the last turn. Stevenson's car hit one of the inside walls on the frontstretch and would retire due to damages received in this wreck, even though it did not seem a hard hit.
Tom Vanezi would end his day by running into the end of one of the outside retaining walls... it looked a hard hit, but, thankfully, Vanezi was able to get out of the car without help. This happened after Vanezi and Holden got together and both cars slid out into the grass.
Lane Cranston [154] who had kept out of trouble so far, was run into by Matthew Grey [185], after hitting the outside wall out of the last turn, and the 154 would go for a spin.
Through the hill turns, Joe Olenick ran wide and lost 2nd place to Tim Reed [55].
All in all, retiring after (or before) completing lap 1 would be Tom Vanezi, Malcolm Terez, Greg Johnson, Jr., Amuro Ray, and Lorne Stevenson.
On lap 5, Andrew Tammerzan [146] for some reason decided that it would be a good idea to drive full speed off of a hill in the sequence of turns known as the hill turns... See this here.
On lap 6, Mac Rhylen spins through the hill turns after bouncing off the wall, Brian Murray tries to make it around the wreck without slowing down, but piles into the left rear of the 86. Lane Cranston gets into the back of the 10, but is on the brakes so there isn't much damage for either car... although, apparently, Murray's #10 car has too much damage to the front to continue, and will end up retiring in the pits. Murray would be the last driver to retire.
About halfway through the race, the top 15 was as follows....
1. 123 Icy Frost
2. 49 Douglas Bent, Jr. [-0.21s]
3. 34 Joe Olenick [-2.18s]

Re: Clairmont Q-Race 1
- Spoiler:
- More barely squeezes into top-27, apologizes for incident with Greg Johnson, Jr
Upon exited his damaged racecar, the first thing Jim More did was ask where Greg Johnson Jr. was. After finding the driver, More was seen and heard apologizing to the 2nd generation Johnson.
Afterword, More said this to reporters:
"I hate that that happened. I tried to get in behind him and just hooked him. I could make up excuses, but it was my fault and I'm going to take the blame for it. I'm happy we made the top-27 to transfer. I'm just disappointed it happened that way."
More finished 27th, the last transfer spot.
Re: Clairmont Q-Race 1
" You see, THIS is why i'm having Frank Meredian in the #715 car for next season" said Lorne Stevenson after his wreck.

- Sara Gallagher Excited About 5th Place Finish
"I am very excited about our results today. The car got better as the day went on, and I didn't do anything to mess up either, which always helps. 5th place is a great finish. I hope we can keep this up come raceday."

Olenick "Thrilled" With Qualifying Run
"We had a great car all day. I'm not even that upset that I threw it off and lost the lead; just glad to be in the show. Now let's go out and win."
(OOC: For future references, my last name is pronounced as if it were spelled "Ohlnick" [or Ol' Nick]. I probably should have said that earlier )

RTR Response to Clairmont Q-Race
Tammerzan Released From RTR
Clairmont is regarded as one of the most difficult tracks to suceed on. It's famous hill section has caught many talented drivers in ARLA and the RROL/VSCC off guard, leading others to have a shot at a pass. The new sweeping bend that bypasses the old circuit is also a true challenge for a driver. Many make mistakes here, but no one made an error as perplexing as that of Andrew Tammerzan. Coming into the famed Hill Turns, Tammerzan made contact with James Proctor (who I believe finished second at Clairmont a year ago) and spun off. He then proceeded to drive off the side of the hill taking himself out of the race. Teammate Cameron Taylor was perplexed.
"I saw it happen in front of and above me. I have no idea what he was thinking. I've followed the RROL all of my life. With the exception of some of Doom-O's antics and Ricky Gonzalez spinning fifteen times in Mallet (Karjala 2010), I have NEVER scene anything close to that as far as stupid moves go." Taylor finished a few spots out of the the transfers and will not compete in the Round of Clairmont. Tammerzan was not available for comment.
"I would like to say sorry to James Proctor. That was too early and I'm sorry I got into him." Cameron added. Tammerzan ironically made contact with Proctor as well.
The team released a statement that Andrew Tammerzan would no longer be involved with the team after this season. He has a ride in the Continental Racing League Modified Division, and the team wished him well in his future racing endevors.
