Crompton Auto Racing post-race:
The Cromptons' first FARC race towards an actual title hunt mirrored their performance at the Rockford 200.  Carson showed more raw speed, but ran into problems not of his own doing.  A tire issue forced him into the pits from 2nd place under caution about halfway through the race.  He started 6th and wasted no time in moving towards the front and challenging for, but never taking, the lead.  He finished 12th.  Carson had this to say after the race:

"Is there such a thing as a series being too cheap? Yes.  Can we at least get some decent tires in here? Lemme get uhhh harder tire compound and a 2 liter of anything but the stupid dice rolling field inverting crap. Thankfully, we actually got to start where we actually qualified today. Can't wait for my first pole to be pointless when all the sudden we have to pack up and start behind Young and all the other idiots in the back."

Patriarch of the family and racing operation Chris Crompton, despite displaying yes speed, patiently and consistently made his way up through the field to a 6th place finish after starting a distant 18th, earning the Hard Charger distinction for his effort.

"Credit this result to experience alone.  I was able to to avoid all the trouble and not use up my equipment too much and save it for when we actually got a green flag run in the latter half of the race."

Whitley apologetic towards Kenny George

Mel Whitley had a great run in San Antonio but not a great finish, as a cut tire sent her four laps down in the season opener. Her race being marred by two collisions didn't help much. Whitley Started 9th but quickly made her way up when the Tim Burkhalter car couldn't get going. But it was an incident with Kenny George that started a downhill run. "I stuck my nose where I shouldn't have and I ruined his day and eventually mine. I hope he understands." was Whitley's statement.

But the biggest issue came when a collision with Issac Lightener caused a tire to deflate and the 66 team would then loose 4 laps changing it.

"I dunno it's a GRI driver, he probably would have done that without me"

Master Sport Racing has an odd day
Wes Maret and Davis Herrington geared up Sunday and got to practice alongside the field at Rembrance Stadium. It became evident very quickly that Eric Herrington's nephew did not retain a bit of his skill. He was the second slowest in practice.

Wes Maret had his fair share of issues. Group qualifying saw him spin two different cars, which required one to recede to a back-up car. Over the radio, he noted that he wasn't feeling very well and even said he blacked out for a couple seconds, potentially causing one or both of the wrecks sustained by Maret.

Maret, who is now 55 isn't in the best of health, and officials were concerned with how he was acting. After a hauler meeting, Wes Maret was not penalized for it was discovered that he had gone through a major high blood pressure spike. He would be sent to a medical center for a check-up. Questions arose on whether Maret would be able to drive the following day, but his blood pressure lessened rapidly and Maret had no other issues and he was released from the care center. Maret was quote on quote "very apologetic" to the drivers he spun.

This trend would continue. Wes Maret didn't feel very well on Sunday as the green flag was met, but he kept quiet on that note until after the race.

Davis Herrington, who is in replacement for Eric Herrington as Herrington had other ties to attend to, was so slow, that he was lapped once in less than three laps. Sporting a similar, yet way more tacky scheme to his uncle's, and his number....he didn't do very much to help his team or his sponsor. Davis Herrington refused to talk to reporters.

Will Wes Maret continue to have health issues? Will Davis Herrington be brutally slow every race and plague us? Find out on the next "FARC Chronicles."
