2017 NFL Season Empty 2017 NFL Season

Post by mtrimmer365 Thu Sep 07, 2017 3:43 pm

Well, it's here. The season officially begins tonight, as the defending Super Bowl champion Patriots (No) face the high-powered Kansas City Chiefs in the season opener! In other week one news, the Bucs-Dolphins game has been moved to Week 11 due to Hurricane Irma. This means both teams will play 16 straight games, so this will probably ruin their season but Goodell doesn't care because he is a greedy bitch who can't just move the game to a neutral sight

I wouldn't call the Chiefs *High-Powered* They have some QB issues, Smith is slowing down and Mahomes is just a rookie, I like Hill and their defense though.

That being said.

#BLITZFOR6

My sleeper pick: Tampa Bay

Bengals are honestly so bad, they just fired their offensive coordinator after week 2...and still haven't scored a single touchdown.

That team should also fire Marvin Lewis. 14 years with no playoff wins? Yeah GTFO.

And in another case of QB's that can't stay healthy, Sam Bradford, after an amazing performance on Monday, will not play today with a sore knee. Case Keenum will start for the Vikings.

After further review, I think the call for no touchdown for Detroit was correct by INCHES, however the 10 second runoff is bullshit, but the Steelers front seven couldn't tackle, they screwed themselves with a halftime deficit against a mediocre team.

So five weeks in, the Bills, Patriots, Jets (WITH FUCKING JOSH MCCOWN) are tie for the AFC East lead and the FUCKING JAGUARS lead the AFC South.

What kind of alternate timeline is this?

I just want to say that as a guy who is from Cleveland, Ohio, the Browns are an absolute disgrace to our city.

Seriously, this trade fiasco is the most Browns thing ever to happen. This kind of jaw dropping ineptitude is something seen only from the likes of Kmart, the Government of Venezuela, and the Cleveland Browns.

Its like they're not even a real team, but a parody.

The reason I'm this late is because I've been dealing with a tooth infection recently and I'm gonna have to get a root canal for it

I won't be posting actual game scores anymore, but I'll give a small weekly report of major events that have gone down. I'll be doing this for the college football thread too. The Bills ended up falling to the Jets 34-21 as Josh McCown has another good game. The Rams KILLED the Giants 51-17 as the Rams continue to roll on with the best offense in the NFL. Amazing what a good head coach can do after years of Jeff Fisher (who I still think is the worst coach in NFL history that has coached long term). The Eagles also obliterated my Broncos 51-23, which is probably the worst game Denver has played since 2010. I'd like to give my feelings on Denver, but I don't want to get banned. Kansas City and Seattle both lost their games as well, losing to Dallas and Washington respectively. The 49ers also remain winless after a 20-10 loss to the Arizona Cardinals. Mike Evans has also been suspended one game for beating the shit outta Marshon Lattimore for basically no reason rather than a little shove (He was probably mad because Lattimore was locking him up all game).

As for this coming week, there a a few juicy games. Saints-Bills is going to be an important one for both team's playoff aspirations. I think the Bills will barely pull it off, 24-23. Charger-Jaguars also has the potential to be a good game, as Jacksonville (now get this!) are contending for a playoff spot of all things, while Los Angeles is on a quest to go from 0-4 to playoffs. I think LA can pull it off if they play like they mean it for these next several weeks. Chargers win 20-16. The Giants and 49ers will play to see who the biggest dumpster fire in the NFC is. I think the Giants will win 16-14. Finally, New England heads to Denver to kick their ass. I'm not gonna talk at all, Patriots win 20-3

Blake Bortles is in a conference championship. Against Tom Brady

I can't imagine the memes if the Jaguars defeat New England. Also Minnesota had an absolute miracle play today for the win in New Orleans. Awesome shit

Foles, Keenum, and Bortles (AKA a backup, a 3rd string, and a guy who was considered one of the worst QB's in the league) are in the conference title games, supported by:

Philadelphia Eagles: who lost their star QB late in the year.

Minnesota Vikings: who's actual starting QB hasn't started a game since 2015, with Keenum and other backup Sam Bradford trading the starting role until Bradford went down with a knee injury and who's home stadium is hosting the Super Bowl (no team has played in the Super Bowl in their home field)

Jacksonville Jaguars: who's last division title before this year was in 1999 and who struck gold in RB Leonard Fournette in last years draft.

These teams have 3 of the top 4 defenses in the league, which has probably elevated these three greatly (except maybe the Eagles, who were doing fine until the Carson Wentz injury, and the aforementioned Fournette for the Jags).  And two of these three get to go head-to-head with a 5-time Super Bowl champion QB and the patriarch of one of the greatest dynasties in sports despite being 40 years old(kill me).

Considering the remaining field, I bet Patriots fans are already celebrating title #6.

Win, lose or draw, regardless of whether you were pulling for the Eagles or the Patriots, that was one helluva Super Bowl. Probably the best one I've seen yet. Both teams let the rough side drag, and it was all-out war.

This is why we love sports. THAT is what a championship game is all about.

That was phenomenal. One of the best games I've seen in my short lifespan, and probably the best on the professional level. Nick Foles will be a Cleveland Brown next season, watch.

But seriously, amazing job Philadelphia. What a game

Yes , I was pulling for the Eagles and I feel dirty doing it.

That aside, agreed.  Regardless of the outcome, that was a hell of a game.  After losing Carson Wentz, who was having a MVP season, nobody (including myself) thought the Eagles had a chance.  If you told me a year ago that Nick Foles would be a Super Bowl MVP, I would've slapped you across the face.
