AST Southwest Stocks

American Short Trackers is the banner under which the Falkner Auto Racing Championships sanctions racing at local race tracks across the United States and Canada. The AST Southwest Stocks (SWS) is one of the newest local series under this division, developed in 2015 by several track owners in the region as a successor to the original ARLA Street Stocks West, and FARC Regional Cup West series.

The 2018 schedule for the tour will feature eleven race weekends of late model action, highlighting tracks in Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah; as well as the series’ first visit to Mexico for a race at the Ovalo Juarez. Three of these events will serve as support races for the FARC Lowe Dollar Series, including the season opener at Remembrance Stadium in San Antonio.

--- You may choose between either a full-time schedule or a one-off appearance at a “home track”. The full-time grid will be capped at 24 entries selected at my discretion, so teams that applied to run full-time might be moved to one-off status.
--- "Home Race Track" is the local track where the driver either has regularly competed or continues to compete. This should be a track on the schedule and will be the race the driver enters if they are relegated to one-off status.
--- Single or Double Digit numbers only, please.
--- Minimum driver age is 14.
--- As this is a local series, most of the drivers should reside in Southern California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Texas, or Mexico. Some drivers from other nearby states may be accepted.
--- Full-time drivers cannot be competing full-time in any major TM canon racing championships. Drivers who have previously competed in major racing series may, however, race full-time (but again, they should live in the area mentioned above). Drivers competing full-time in a major series are eligible for one-off races; however, drivers with four or more starts in either TM Master Cup or TM Lights will not be accepted.
--- Teams must have only one or two full-time entries, and no more than three total entries. You may enter as many teams and drivers as you wish.
--- As this is technically a FARC-sanctioned series, all sponsors must be fictional.

Your entry is considered accepted only if I add it to the TMpedia page. Please do not post any requests in the Request Line section of the forums or submit any cars if your entry has not been accepted, and if your entry is not accepted, feel free to modify it. Once your entry is added to the TMpedia chart, you are free to modify your own entry on said chart, including driver schedules for any races that have yet to be run.

This series utilizes the Late Model Project V2 mod with CUP physics for NASCAR Racing 2003 Season (the same mod as the FARC Larry Lemon Super Series). I will accept .car files and .tga files, but nothing else. I have a car converter, so physics don’t matter, but the cars use cup physics.

Painting Information

The series will use the same template as the FARC Larry Lemon Super Series for 2018. The Super Series windshield banner is to be disabled, and contingencies are not required, but may be used as long as you use the sets that do not include the super Series decal.

The series will use the same ratings classes as FARC will in 2018, with the exception of the driver Class R being unused. Additionally, full-time drivers will receive a ten point bonus towards their driver ratings at their home track only, applied to the bottom number of the ratings range only. For example, a Class B driver’s ratings will increase from 40-80 to 50-80 at their home track only.

Qualifying Format for Limited Grid Races Posted
As a reminder to returning teams and to inform newcomers to the AST Southwest Stocks, tour director Jim Powell issued a memo to team owners regarding the qualifying format at tracks that cannot accommodate a regular full field of thirty starters. On the 2018 schedule, this format will apply to the races at I-25 Speedway, Stockton 99 Speedway, and Orange Show Speedway.

* The feature race will be preceded by two heat races, run to no more than 50% of the race distance of the feature.
* All entrants participate in traditional timed qualifying. Cars that time in at odd-numbered positions start Heat 1, even-numbered positions start Heat 2.
* The top ten (I-25 Speedway)/nine (Stockton 99 Speedway)/twelve (Orange Show Speedway) qualify for the feature, with the qualifiers from Heats 1 and 2 making up the inside and outside lanes, respectively. The winner of Heat 1 will be awarded the pole position and receive the points bonus, regardless of where they timed in during pole qualifying.
* The final starting spot in the feature will be awarded to the highest driver in the championship standings who has not already qualified.

All other races on the schedule will determine the starting grid with a traditional pole qualifying session.

I've extended the due date for entries and cars to May 14th due to some unexpected technical issues I'll be attempting to work out.

I have decided to change the mod for the series to the LMPV2 mod (same as the FARC Super Series). The painting and carfile information has been updated in the original post accordingly.

For those still interested, I didn't forget about this; some unexpected technical difficulties and having less free time than I expected prevented me from running the season in the summer as I had planned.

I'm hoping to get the season run this fall and winter, and spend 2019 either on a second season, if anyone wants to see one, or possibly on another project I've been thinking about for a while.
