Re: (LDS) Race 5: Big Bunny Bash
- Ruiz Bros day end in crunched cars:
- Brothers Timothy, who started 19th, and Xavier, who was starting last and making his debut, both had their day spoiled with wrecks, more with Xavier. However, Xavier finished higher than Timothy and that seem to continue to stroke his "ego". "I knew I would be the better driver" Xavier said on twitter, just minutes after the crash. Timothy, on the other hand,
finally stepped up and told reporters "When ever he and his brother run go karts, Xavier runs into the was several times a race, and that when he drives a good go kart." I'm guessing brotherly love isn't shown on the track. We did get catch wind that Polito's, Timothy's sponsor,
warns Timothy to have consistent finishes and not wrecking as much. In his last 4 races,
T. Ruiz has wrecked out 2 times and finished a season best 8th. We don't know what Polito's do, but considering the warning, there might be a chance he could lose that sponsor by the end of the season. It's a wait and see.

- Enola Outduels Quick in Epic Battle for the Win @ Albuquerque
15 April 2017
The fifth race of the 2017 FARC Lowe Dollar Series, the Big Bunny Bash, came down to the wire in a thrilling late-race battle between Pearson-Sweeney Motorsports teammates Harry S. Enola and Darrell Quick.
Enola, the FARC veteran, and Quick, the AST truck racer, dueled for the final fourteen laps of the race at Albuquerque Speedbowl following the final restart. Both drivers raced each other very hard, but managed to keep it clean, putting on an excellent show for the spectators.
With two laps to go, Quick made his move to the inside of Enola in turn 3, clearing Enola as they took the white flag. Enola, however, responded with a perfectly-executed crossover in turn 1 that took Quick completely by surprise, blasting away from the #8 and making it back around to the checkered flag for the win.
The victory is Enola's first since his recent return from the ASCC. It is also the first race victory for Pearson-Sweeney Motorsports in the Lowe Dollar Series in multiple years. The victory comes just two weeks after team co-owner Andy Pearson won the season-opening race for the Larry Lemon Super Series at Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville.
Quick, the three-time champion of the AST Voltson Super Trucks, made only his second start today in the Lowe Dollar Series. His first start came earlier this year at Texas World Speedway, where he also scored a top 5 finish, managing to rank fifth.
The full-season entry for PSM, Billy Ray Smith-Thompson, was scored 21st after crashing out of the race around the halfway point.
Quick's next appearance behind the wheel of car #8 will be at Grand Detour Raceway. Enola will be competing at the Randy Newman Memorial Night Vale Airport, but will not race again afterwards until the series makes its return to Indianapolis Raceway Park (where Quick will also be competing).
