I think he got tired of his mom arguing about his talent with everyone on Twitter.

Re: Brian Scott to retire at the end of the season
Are Corey LaJoie and Ryan Truex still RPM developmental drivers? The only other person I could see moving to the #44 is David Ragan. Might be a smart idea for RPM to just shut down their 2nd team put all hands on deck for the #43.

You know Brian, you could've gone back to Xfinity and hone your craft.

He had more $$$ than craft.
I didn't despise Scott; I was more happy that he could be my punching bag this season since Jeb Burton (ironically also an RPM driver at the start of the season) left BK. I didn't mind him until last season where he didn't really impress but managed to find Cup starts anyway. That second RPM car has been cursed for the past 3 seasons, but I expected the funding to help the team overall. Sadly, it did jut as horribly as before. I heard he had been likely to re-sign for next season with RPM, but that's out the window now.
As for what RPM should do, I'd say that closing the team is best in the team's longevity. Heard fans saying Gaulding or Buescher to the 44 would be interesting, but Ryan Reed going would solve the Buescher issue at Roush. Then he could literally become the next Brian Scott. But honestly, good for Scott to settle down and focus on family. Not easy being away from them even if you do what you love every day.

He had a decent Xfinity run after he into RCR, but he was still not ready for Cup (it sounded like it was a now-or-never thing on him coming up). He failed spectacularly and has probably smashed a chunk of Petty's fleet.Mother of Invention wrote:NASCARLOVER427 wrote:You know Brian, you could've gone back to Xfinity and hone your craft.

Kinda sounds like Petty was gonna fire him and Scott knew no one was gonna hire him after the season he's had.

After his tenure at Gibbs, I'm surprised he got a chance at RCR in the first place. I also still think his run at RCR was masked by how good the equipment was there.
All in All I think Scott was nothing more than "Stacy Compton w/ Money" type driver. (Decent in trucks, okish in Xfinity, Crap in Cup)

I've heard that the #44 will still be around next year, and that Jeb Burton is one of the drivers rumored to the car.

That would massively surprise me! Especially after the J Stracher fiasco this year.
