Round 6 - Lake Gooi
Ben's probably just waking up if my timezones are correct to do the working thing, so I'll post the sprints for all of you.
Sprints
Feature
Sprints
- Drivers/Rejects Of The Races:
Sprint 1
Hannah Percy - In stupidly good form at the moment and looks like she could be a serious threat come crunch time for the title.
No-one Really - No incredibly stupid stuff in this race.
Sprint 2
Kailin Donohue - Excellent debut qualifying effort topped off with opportunistic driving to take her first win. One for the future?
Kellan Rogers-Ashby - Threw away a certain win by driving into a lap car on a straightaway... also took out her team owner. Whoops.
Honorable Mention: Casey Lester - Wrecked the guy he was battling for... for last. gg.
Feature
- Driver/Reject of the Race:
- Dieter Ziegler - Once Percy broke down, decided "yeah I'm winning this shit" and off he went.
Carla Rosinski - A close one, but it was a miracle she didn't get wrecked after diving through the grass, taking out Donohue, then blocking her, and other faster cars.
Honorable Mention: Me - I can't believe I used Hewitt's banner in the results instead of Donohue's. *facepalm*

Re: Round 6 - Lake Gooi
- Spoiler:
- Kailin Donohue takes shock debut win
17 year old Kailin Donohue entered the weekend as a fill-in for the injured James Hewitt, but will exit the weekend with at least one extra trophy for the cabinet after she took opportunity of a crash between Kellan Rogers-Ashby, Ryan Matthews and the lap car of Mauricio Gallardo to take a win on her debut at the Lake Gooi Motorsports Complex. Donohue, who will run the rest of the European Tour, was elated after her victory, and was congratulated by her teammates Cassandra Collins, Matilda Dillinger, as well as best friend and Aspira Juniors teammate Emily Brannagan, who attended the weekend with the #155 team.
"This is incredible. I don't think it's quite sunk in yet." said the American, "It's nothing like my Aspira Juniors win. We've come to the big leagues and done it. I was gonna be happy with the podium, but then I saw the 90 get into the 050 and 06 and they all spun in front of me, and I got by, looked in my mirror, and I just thought 'Wait, I'm going to win this?' It's pretty remarkable."
"I'm just happy to get the opportunity. STS ATK could have put someone with more experience than me in the car, knowing that I've already got a deal for next year, but they gave me my chance and I really hope I've proven it's the right choice. I don't think this big smile is gonna wear off for a long time."
James Hewitt, who drives the car full-time, will be out of the car until at least the Daytona weekend, meaning that Donohue will be in the car for the rest of the Europe tour and the Spa Grand Prix, with Ben Atkins taking over at Saitama and Calder Park.

Re: Round 6 - Lake Gooi
Casey Lester: That was a shameful wreck and I'll take credit for that. Just felt the car washing up a little bit, but I thought it would stay off the 11 car, but I misjudged it and that happened. So I messed up for both of our crews. I'm sorry.

- Feature:
- Two Top 10s for Fochesato in the Netherlands
30 April 2016
After what has been a very difficult start to the 2016 Dash Cup season, FIAM Engineering's car #75 and its driver Vincenzo Fochesato look to finally be getting back on track after a second straight weekend of qualifying for the Feature race and finishing well within it.
Fochesato's pair of races this weekend at Lake Gooi Motorsports Complex went even better than at Eurospeedway. The Italian scored a 10th-place finish in Sprint 1 (his first top 10 finish in a Sprint race) and a season-best 4th-place finish in the Feature; one position short of the podium.
"I know that we already got the monkey off our back in Germany by starting a Feature but today feels so much better, to be honest" said Fochesato following the Feature. After starting the race from thirteenth, he had made his way up to eighth by the time that mid-race pit stops occurred. Despite running very far behind the top seven cars, a call to pit early by the #75 crew earned him a significant track position. From there, he was able to gain two more positions with on-track passes, placing him in fourth by the drop of the checkered flag.
In addition to the Fochesato's top 5, it was also a big week for FIAM Engineering in that the team unveiled its brand new Delta DC model for Dash Cup competition. The car has received much appraise for its aggressive styling, but it also proved its worth on the racetrack with the aforementioned results in its very first races, and none of the three FIAM Engineering cars experienced mechanical troubles during a race.
"It's just so satisfying when you finish that much better then where you expect, or where your circumstances would have you expect. I cannot tell you how happy that I am with my team! They had a perfect strategy, the pit stop was executed perfectly, and how about the car?! This new Delta is amazing; it brought me two top 10s in my first two races! I know I say that my team deserves the credit a lot but today it's more true than any race that I've ever run. I should have finished in eighth, but because of all of them, I got fourth. I know that it isn't a victory but it really is satisfying, incredibly so! And speaking of victories, by the way, with this new car FIAM is certain to get more soon!"
In addition to scoring his best result of the 2016 season, Fochesato also improved upon his best finish at Lake Gooi. During last year's three-race weekend at the circuit, Fochesato scored a best-finish of 7th, coming in the reverse-grid Race 3.
In two week's time, the Pirelli Super Stocks Series will travel to Bordeaux in France for a weekend of racing at Circuit Thierry Sicotte, the site of Fochesato's first-ever podium in Dash Cup.
"I'm really looking forward to these next several weeks with the places we're racing, and first comes France. Last year was one of my favorite races ever and CTS is absolutely my favorite road course on the Dash Cup calendar. I'm so excited to go back!"
Fochesato then departed to his garage to congratulate members of his crew.
