2016 United States GP

Post by The_Wall_91 on Tue Oct 11, 2016 8:26 am

With only 4 races to go, F1 returns to Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas for the 18th round of the championship. Here are some headlines entering the USGP.

The Hulk to Renault?

A rumor has surfaced that Nico Hulkenburg will leave Sahara Force India and join Renault for 2017. At first, you may think is career suicide, but, I will explain why it is actually not a bad idea.

The Renault team bought out Lotus' F1 team after the 2015 season. The chassis used by Renault was built by Lotus, not Renault. The Lotus chassis was suited for a Mercedes engine, not a Renault engine.

Is Nico or Lewis Beating Lewis?

With a championship that is starting to become out of reach for Lewis, the perception is that Nico Rosberg has beaten his teammate cleanly. True, but in a larger picture, Lewis has seem to have eliminated himself from winning a 4th drivers championship. It seemed during the off season, Lewis forgot how to start a race. From the dreadful starts in Japan, Australia, Canada, to taking out himself and Rosberg in Spain, Lewis Hamilton might have threw this championship away by himself.

Reuniting with the Past

For the first time since the weird and wonderful 1980's, a F1 GP in the United States will have a US based team in the race. Haas has a lot of pressure entering Circuit of the Americas as they try to score more points in their maiden season. While I think there are a lot of people that want to see a Haas car win, we may have to hope 1 or both can both get into the points.

Mercedes Clinches Constructors Crown

For the 3rd year in a row, Mercedes AMG Petronas have won the Constructors Championship. While we may not like the team, we have to give them credit for going on a run like this. Maybe with the change in car regulations for 2017, a new team could come along and become the new team on top.

Boy after how they burned him i' shocked he's staying....then again his shots at going elsewhere are low unless he proves himself otherwise.

Kinda there race.

I'll give the US GP this, they're doing a good job building it. Genuinely felt like a big hype race this year.
