Most fun you've had racing online?
See title.
For me, it's hard to decide. One of the first things that comes to mind is the GOMA SSSS League we ran. For those of you who aren't familiar, SSSS wasn't your average super speedway league, per se: The pack racing dynamic was still there, but the tracks were insanely gripped up so you had to have some semblance of skill to do well; one mistake could very well spell disaster for you. I specifically remember Tanner saying during a race at Piggz Creek, "You're not a man until you've raced SSSS".
The other thing I remember is racing GOMA Trucks. There were a few tracks, usually some of the intermediate ovals, where it would be me, Ben, and Batista breaking away from the rest of the field and duking it out for the win on our own terms (and then Ben would cancel his pit in when I posted my pit and it got me salty :V). Whether it was just the way the tracks were set up or what, it proved to me that I could be competitive. Unfortunately for me it wouldn't be for a few years until I got my first online win in a Truck race at Homestead.
And I'm just gonna say it, I kind of miss the Open1 servers. I know this is an awkward way of saying it, but there, you had fun at other people's expense. Everyone who raced there was essentially a casual out to have a good time. There would always be the stupid wreck or just stupid people you had to watch out for during a race, which was fun because it kept you on your toes. It was most fun when you had a packed server for a weekend evening. For a long time, I was a regular on Open1, and I used it to whet my driving ability; of course I know now it didn't do a lot for me. I know the Open1 servers are still up, but they don't get nearly as many people anymore. I'm willing to wager that this is because a lot of them jumped ship for iRacing.

I have fun with SS leagues when the people who race it aren't pretentious or take it over-the-top seriously. Generally I'm having fun when races have long green flag runs or the setup is comfortable to drive.

Re: Most fun you've had racing online?
I have a couple to share.
First, in the NORL, we had 2 Tuesday leagues that always were chaotic. For a long time, we had what was known as the Shootout Series. Basically, it was 2 5% and 1 20% races back-to-back-to-back, there were no yellows so you had no room to make any mistakes. Once that series fell, we came up with the Pick-a-Winner Series. This series had 25% races and the winner of the race had the right to choose where the next race would be held at.
For NR2003, when I raced with Bluestreak Motorsports, we had a series.... scratch that, it was more of a smash fest series. Similar to the Shootout Series, there were 3, no yellow races but the catch was someone always had a bounty on them. A random starting position was selected and whoever started there was the bounty, which was 50 points. Also, there was no rules so if there was a driver you were pissed at, you could take them out without any penalties.

Hard to remember any specific one, but they've all been in GOMA. Lights was a lot of fun personally, especially road courses and superspeedways. Also enjoyed Cup and F5 even though the latter is the only one still going.

My personal favorites I can remember were seasons 11 and 12 of F5.
GOMA Lights was fun but a lot of hell and me ending up angry.

^this. The most fun races I've ever had came in "stupid little leagues". If I'm with good people and having fun, that's all that matters.BooyakaDragon wrote:I have fun with SS leagues when the people who race it aren't pretentious or take it over-the-top seriously. Re: Most fun you've had racing online?
The Grand Tour of GOMA was incredibly fun, where we switched mods and track type every week to provide a different challenge.
I also really enjoy racing in the Formula 5 season, especially this past couple of seasons where we used a completely not modified .exe to give the cars more power and made them lighter. This past season I ended up winning something like 13 races, but the season before, me and Joe Branch had an epic title fight and I ended up losing the points lead in the final race and losing the title by 1 point.
I've also found myself missing the GOMA Cup series recently. Even though I was never able to quite keep the pace with Joe Branch and Josh Batista some weeks, it was still a blast racing with them in the Cup series.

Probably races where people didn't really give a shit or nothing was at the line. Example the Grand Detour non-points race in the first season in GOMA Lights or the Grand Tour South Boston race.
Given that I am extremely slow compared to others, I don't care about my results, I really just care about my own amusement/fun.

Re: Most fun you've had racing online?
If ANYTHING that you can race online counts.
Daytona on NASCAR 15 for any series is always fun as hell for me personally because I would usually be up front make my way to the back of the pack and with 10 to go begin to make a charge to the front. Don't know if you can tell but I've never one but 2 measly Daytona 500s. But My hometrack (Talladega) has always eluded me.
Kansas in any league is always fun for me in NASCAR 15 because Kansas has been my best track for awhile when it comes down to raw speed but I've never had strategy down. I got my first win at Kansas not too long ago. I've always been able to run higher than everyone else. To make my situation better if I were to get any higher I would be into the wall all the time so i really can't be beat there unless someone is ridiculously fast on the inside. And Late race cautions made it more tense.
Lastly I have always been good at Michigan so Michigan in Ditech Cup Series on NASCAR 15 was always good for me because, once again, I ran higher-up than anyone else was willing and yea.

GOMA Grand Tour at South Boston...it was like a 7 truck field but me, Ben, Batista, and Joe raced each other like our hair was on fire.

Re: Most fun you've had racing online?
F5 races at Karjala and Hawgenheim (Decatur) were always really fun for me, especially the one where I finished 8th with just 2nd and 5th gears and basically had Cynon helping me to the finish via TS whisper.
The other fun time would be my near-miss in GOMA Cup at Daytona. My best chance at victory and I really thought it was gonna happen. Alas, not to be...but still for someone who's never at the front, racing for a win is a high.
