NASCAR at the Brickyard
Indy week. Woo.
Cup entries: http://www.jayski.com/news/stats/2016/story/_/page/20-Indianapolis-2016-Entry-List
Xfinity entries: http://www.jayski.com/news/nxs/2015/story/_/page/18-Indianapolis-NXS-2016-Entry-List
Cup notes:
* 41 cars entered, which means one unlucky driver will go home.
* 88 - Dale Jr. listed on entry list as driver. If he can't go (concussion-like symptoms), Jeff Gordon will sub.
* 78 - New sponsor for Martin Truex this week as Auto-Owners Insurance comes on board.
* 32 - Patrick Carpentier (!) will drive for GO FAS Racing in the Can-Am car.
* 44 - Sponsor is listed as TBD for Brian Scott...strange.
Xfinity notes:
* Matt DiBenedetto will do double-duty this week as he's in the 10 car.
* Other Cuppies in the field: Paul Menard (2), Joey Logano (22), Kyle Busch (18), Kyle Larson (42), and Kevin Harvick (88).
* Larson will be a busy guy, as he's entered in the Camping World race in Eldora on Wednesday night.

Fingers crossed in hoping that the new downforce package will produce a dynamic race?
Maybe?
Please?

The package made Dover entertaining, maybe this race stands a chance if 2008 dosen't repeat itself.

Going to be weird seeing Jeff in the 88, but at the same time I hope he does well. Would have been nice to see Bowman get another shot, but still good to see Jeff perform his role as reserve driver.

So the stands are gonna look awful on tv, as of Monday the high estimate of tickets sold was 35k....for a 235k seat track.

I'm not happy about his championship, but he sure as hell deserved it.

I don't think he even has a championship period, let alone a... medically handed conspiracy championship.

He had an Xfinity championship way back in 2009.

Re: NASCAR at the Brickyard
The thing I've noticed about Jeff Gordon is that in the 23 or so seasons he's been driving full time in Cup, the 24 is the only number he's ever driven, besides #1 in Xfinity competition well before his Hendrick debut. Also, he's never substituted for anyone between '93-'16. I could be off on it, but it's just my guess. During the time he was a teammate to Ricky Craven, Ken Schrader, Terry Labonte, Jerry Nadeu, Casey Mears, Brian Vickers, Jimmie Johnson, Kyle Busch, Mark Martin, Dale, Jr. and Kasey Kahne, he's never subbed for any one of these drivers before he got this call to sub for Dale, Jr. for these three races. Plus, don't you see an out-of-body sort of vibe here seeing Jeff in Dale, Jr.'s car racing against his old number that Chase Elliott is driving?

Then again, he kinda was owed one after dominating the 2008 season. It was just a matter of time, no matter how much I dislike Kyle, he's a great championship driver.
Re: NASCAR at the Brickyard
I heard that an Indy executive said they were expecting more people on Saturday for Xfinity and the Kid Rock concert than for the Cup race. Considering there couldn't have been more than 2000 for Xfinity...

There was no chance in hell that car was legal. Seriously, you can not say that was just good restarts. He got to the point Truex in Charlotte took 10 laps to get to in 1.

Even the retard brawls at the end couldn't save this race. Wouldn't of have been mad at all if I spoiled the result for myself.
