NASCAR at Fontana Empty NASCAR at Fontana

Post by bigdc48 Wed Mar 16, 2016 10:32 pm

NASCAR concludes their west coast trip at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California and is the final race weekend before the first off-week. Brad Keselowski won his first Fontana race in last year's Cup race, but it was not without controversy as a series of questionable cautions prevented Kurt Busch to take home the trophy. And KYLEWINSLOL shall continue going to this week for the Xfinity Series.

The last few years saw some pretty awesome racing here, and the start of the season has been promising for Cup, so let's hope for some action.

Wow, shout out to Austin Dillon for grabbing the pole, Trevor Bayne for making it to round 3, and to Chris Beuscher who, yet again, made it to round 2, this time qualified 16th.

Man, I was rooting for Daniel Suarez to have enough fuel after Kyle Busch's tire failure.

Thank god Kyle's tire held that whole last lap cause a caution for debris would have been a huge buzzkill.

Just realized this: the #19 team had only existed for 1 year when the charter rule was implemented, as opposed to the required 2... Why did they get a charter? If Penske went to 3 cars, would that third car get a charter?

The #19 didn't had a charter from the get go, they had to acquire one of the former MWR's charters (which belong to Rob Kaufman).

Oh. Kind of cool to see a rule actually apply to a big team for once, although it's odd that MWR retroactively got charters,

Good win Johnson. A good race IMO. A 6.0/10.

The annoying thing about a race as entertaining as parts of that were is that it feels like it doesn't matter in the slightest.

... Neutral

That aside, I'm thrilled Allmendinger got 8th and nothing seriously bad happened to him all race -- the first time that's happened to him in what seems like a year and a half.

Good race, feel like its honestly the best race of the year. Nascar's been doing the right things so far this year.

Honestly, I think the only solution is to shorten the races by a couple hundred miles or so - given how likely nascar is to give up their gwc finishes.

And agreed, I was so happy to see Allmendinger running strong at the end of the race.

My solution is, if they want to have the same amount of racing in a weekend, they should run two 250 mile races in a weekend.
