Sports Car News Thread
I thought I would start this, given that there has been a LOT of news on this front
* Ford is returning to Le Mans, and Chip Ganassi Racing is a major part of the operation. During an open test at Daytona, no less than ___ drivers were seen hanging around the Ford team including Sebastien Bourdais, Dirk Muller, Richard Westbrook, Ryan Briscoe, Joey Hand, Marino Franchitti, and Billy Johnson.
* Corvette Racing is back for another year but will have Marcel Fassler and Mike Rockenfeller, both Le Mans winners on loan from Audi, drive in the enduros, joining Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen, Oliver Gavin, and Tommy Milner. For the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Ricky and Jordan Taylor will drive in their place, as both of the new drivers will be otherwise occupied.
* BMW is switching to the M6. Rahal Letterman Racing and Turner Motorsports will each run two of the new cars in GTLM and GTD respectively. Fall-Line Motorsports is likely to run another one for its up and coming drivers Trent Hindman and Ashley Freiburg.
* There were three Mercedes cars at the Daytona test: Two SLSs from DragonSpeed, and one AMG GT from the factory team.
* Simon Pagenaud tested a Daytona prototype
* Sean Rayhall tested the Delta Wing.

Re: Sports Car News Thread
- Porsche is waiting on the finalization of the 2016 F1 calendar to complete their driver lineup for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, as Nico Hulkenburg will not be able to return if the F1 calendar isn't changed. It appears that the race will clash with the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
- The schedule for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship remains unchanged from last year, but with GT Daytona added to the lineup at Sebring, Prototype Challenge added to Long Beach, and GT Le Mans added to Lime Rock.
- Defending GT Daytona class champions Townsend Bell and Bill Sweedler will both move from Scuderia Corsa to O'Gara Motorsports (new to the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship this season) to co-drive the team's Lamborghini Huracán GT3.

And speaking of the new Z6, it looks really nice!Alpineopossum wrote:* BMW is switching to the M6. Re: Sports Car News Thread
Perhaps this should have its own thread, but it's been a very interesting Roar Before the 24 so far for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Practice Session #5 concluded on Saturday with The #60 Honda Ligier, driven by Olivier Pla, as the overall fastest car (the #60 also topped the charts in Practices 1 and 2), with the DeltaWing of Katherine Legge setting the second-to-fastest time of the session. The DeltaWing also topped the charts in Practice 3. The #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP (fastest in Practice 4) was third on the boards.
The #8 Starworks Motorsport car was the fastest of the PC cars, followed by the other Starworks car; the #88.
This year's new entries to the two GT classes are impressing thus far. The Practice 5 charts for GT Le Mans were topped by one of the new Rahal Letterman Lanigan BMW's; the #25 car. The fastest GT Daytona car was the Paul Miller Racing car #48, which is one of the new Lamborghini Huracán GT3s. Miller's team fielded Audi R8's in 2015.
