Hayes Replaces Lareau at DeGarmo-Delgado Enterprises For Road America, Indianapolis

DeGarmo-Delgado Enterprises announced that Jim Hayes will make his TM Master Cup series debut at the helm of the #39 car for the next two rounds of the championship. Hayes has bounced around the lower-tier categories without finding much of a regular drive in any series. The team cited "organizational reasons" for Hayes replacing Lareau.

Less than 48 hours after the completion of the Round of Ohio, rumors began to circulate that driver Brandon Lareau and team co-owner Owen DeGarmo were arguing behind the scenes. Some described the relationship between Lareau and DeGarmo as "irreperable".

DeGarmo-Delgado Enterprises did enter three cars for the Round of Wisconsin, entering the #37 car (as a Promoter's Option) in addition to their two regular entries. It is now suspected that TM Lights road course ace Kurt Reynolds will get a run in that car. Reynolds is widely considered to be one of the quicker drivers in the TM Lights series, but lost several races early in the season due to poor strategy as opposed to a lack of speed.

Davenport's Ride in Jeopardy?

A rumor doing the rounds is that the Mitchell & Sons team will replace Chris Davenport at some stage later in the season, possibly indefinitely. The rumors themselves are conflicting, some saying that Davenport will sit out the Gravis City race and then return to his regular ride, others saying he will be called up by ALERT to replace FARC-bound Chris Johaanes, and others indicating that he will lose his ride entirely.

Davenport and the Mitchell & Sons refused to comment.

Road America Promoter's Options

2004 TM Master Cup series Driver's Champion Matt Taylor will take one of the four Promoter's Options for the TM Master Cup series Round of Wisconsin. Taylor will make his first start of the season in a James Dalton owned Blackbird. The unloved Dalton Blackbird was campaigned two years ago by longtime team owner Dalton, with Kraig Mummert, Charlie Waters, Stan Rosenstreter, and Taylor serving as drivers. The faults of the car were compounded by the Bolden engine and no solid development path.

Taylor will run Dalton's preferred number, #00, however, the car will carry the same engine that all of the Lenard cars carry. Dalton runs occasionally in the ASCC, with Taylor as his primary driver.

Alexis Rainsford needs little introduction, the two-time former TM Master Cup champion and 2013 Indianapolis 500 winner will make a guest appearance in the third Gessler, once again carrying her famous #27. Rainsford, who runs in the Champ Car series, scored her only Champ Car pole on a permanent road course in last year's race at Road America.

While Rainsford was known in the TM Master Cup series for her road racing prowess, she is regarded as one of the best oval racers in the Champ Car field, blitzing the field at Phoenix and Milwaukee this year.

Alexis's older sister Rachel Rainsford will be making her second appearance of the year in the #31 Volpi. The elder Rainsford's career began a decade ago, and while she has yet to win a race, she has earned considerable respect for her ability as a test driver.

The fourth Promoter's Option went to DeGarmo Delgado Enterprises for car #37. While Jim Hayes was initially confirmed to car #39, he will instead pilot the #37 for DDE. TM Lights ace Kurt Reynolds, himself regarded as one of the best road racers in the development ladder, will make his TM Master Cup series debut in the #39 car for DDE.
