Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio - IndyCar
3 rounds remain in the Verizon IndyCar Series. Juan Pablo Montoya currently leads the points heading to the tough Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, where Scott Dixon, who is 3rd in points, won last year's race after starting last. He can gain a huge advantage this weekend in the championship, considering his records here at Mid-Ohio.
Rahal, Castroneves and Power are in realistic contenders for the Astor Cup as well. As is looks, the top 13 drivers are in mathematical contention for the championship.

Not being hardcore into college sports, i thought Graham Rahal was supporting Marijuana or something.

Unsurprisingly, Dixon was the fastest in practice. Bourdais was second.

Earlier in the race, Will Power was being a dick to Charlie Kimball and now Kimball is 2 laps down. Dixon was the early leader, but fell back due to other guy's strategy calls.
Right now, Montoya's 12th, Rahal's leading, Justin Wilson 2nd and Dixon's 4th.

If Rahal wins with that Ohio State Helmet, this win will feel so sweet!

Nice job Rahal. Kanaan got a 5th, I'll take it.

If anyone at the beginning in the year, predicted Rahal winning a race, let alone being 10 points off the title. I'd call you insane.
Not that bad of a race, lots of strategy. Rahal has lots of momentum, while Penske/Ganassi have none!

Wow, Rahal wins another one, and this one's at his home track. I like it. If you told me he'd be in this spot by the end of the year at the beginning of the season, I would've thought you were insane. Good for Graham, and I hope he does it.

Congrats Rahal. I pretty much agree with everyone else that if someone told me that Rahal could have a chance at the championship, I would say 'Can I have what you're smoking because you sound high now'. And the fact that we all might see "Rahal" and "championship" in the same sentence make things sound crazier.
A good race overall. A 7.0/10.

That was a pretty fun race to watch... and I can remember when Mid-Ohio used to suck!

A pretty good race at Mid-Ohio for the Indy boys for once.
Rahal winning again and is in the title fight...The fan in me doesn't mind it, but the comedian in me misses the Rahal jokes. :[
So much for Montoya running away with this lol.

Solid race overall. A few boring parts, but not bad for a Mid-Ohio race.
And how about Graham Rahal? He's sucked for so long, but this year has been his breakout year, complete with a win on his home track. He did Ohio proud today.
The Mid-Ohio 200 gets a 5.75/10.

Re: Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio - IndyCar
I was at Mid Ohio this weekend. It was a great weekend of racing! Here are a few observations
* One of the big places that the fast IndyCar drivers were making up time is the right-left sequence at the bottom of Thunder Valley. The fastest drivers were on and off the throttle and there were some big moves there.
* The Pirelli GTS race was pretty good. Kris Wilson in an Aston and Jack Baldwin in a Porsche Cayman pretty much checked out from the field but they had a great battle between themselves.
* That race included a car sponsored by Donald Trump for President. It was making some crazy moves but it went behind the wall for several laps after it crashed into one of the Kias. Also in the field was Nationwide driver Brandon Gdovic.
* Several drivers broke the 15 year old track record (starting with Bourdais). Dixon became the first person ever to hit 1:04 at the track. It was pretty cool to know that nobody had ever done a faster lap than the one you just saw.
* Went to an autograph session, and came away with a few impressions. 1) Graham Rahal is very popular here. 2) Justin Wilson is easily the tallest racecar driver I've ever seen. I was right next to him and he's at least 6'4, probably taller. He seemed like a very likable guy, and after all he stayed around and signed autographs for a longer time then he had to 3) There are an insane amount of Takuma Sato (who's probably hovering around the 5'3-5'4 mark btw) fans, many of whom came from Japan (rumor had it that Honda had given away expenses paid trips to this race to some lucky Japanese employees). 4) Neither of Dale Coyne's drivers had hero cards. They just signed the spotter guides that show all the entries and their paint schemes. 5)
* The new Indy Lights cars are great. They feature close racing and they are some of the best looking open wheel racecars today.
* Very few people had any idea who Rodolfo Gonzalez was. Somebody joked that Dale Coyne has a slot machine with drivers on it and that he pulled the lever and got Gonzalez and Vautier.
* The Pirelli World Challenge GT race was one of the most exciting I'd ever seen. There were intense battles all through the field (the spec 911 class was very exciting). Ryan Dalziel was the class of the field and he definitely deserved the win.
(I was at the track on Saturday only, and watched from home on Sunday)

Re: Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio - IndyCar
Not quite the greatest race that I've ever seen, but I still thought that it was very entertaining; I enjoyed it! There was plenty of clean, hard racing, although I'm curious to see if IndyCar will see anything suspicious in Karam's spin. As a fan watching the replays on the broadcast, I am not qualified to make any assumptions as to whether or not that was intentional.
I've been very pleased to see Rahal finally break through this year. Although the well-timed cautions are what gave him the lead, he drove the wheels off his car from that point onward. He has been doing a phenomenal job as a driver all season, and it makes it even better to see him and his team win at their home circuit! A lot of respect has to be given, as well, to Justin Wilson for racing clean and scoring a well-deserved 2nd-place finish!
