Gee, what is it with Mother Nature playing a big part in NASCAR events this year?

Well, part of it is that the track cleaners move at 1/2 a mile per week.

Too bad Kansas isn't like Florida, where it can rain for 2 minutes and be gone

Or be dry, and 1 minute later, you have a downpour on your hands, like what happened with the Xfinity guys last year

That's Bobby Gerhart's Daytona ARCA win from 2012 but it happened to everyone you wanted to win.

Jimmie steals this one due to a great call by Knaus. Harvick 2nd, Junior 3rd. Truex who had the best car gets only a top 10.
Re: NASCAR at Kansas: Attack of the Squarepants
Heck yeah putting on my Johnson shirt worked lol. That was a good race, just too many cautions.

Clean air was the key and the 48 teams once again gets ahead of everyone on it.
Good race overall. Might be one of the better cookie cutter races.

I think Harvick would have gotten around Johnson, but he botched turn 2 with a couple laps to go and couldn't recover.

Re: NASCAR at Kansas: Attack of the Squarepants
My thoughts on the Spongebob Squarepants 400:
Well, that was a frustrating ending.
Honestly, it was a pretty decent race, although there were points that were migrane-inducingly boring, like the first set of green flag pit stops where Truex had a 7-second lead after the pit stops. And then the rains came just shy of halfway, forcing a red flag of almost two hours. But when the race restarted, the second half was pretty good. And how about Erik Jones impressing for a while, at least until he wrecked, but I'd say he's got a bright future when he gets up to Cup.
Then came the end of the race where a lot of drivers might've been short on fuel, and even though Harvick had the lead, I was hoping and praying for Truex to catch him, especially considering that today is his girlfriend's birthday, who had a recent bout with cancer herself, so he really wanted to win this race for her and I was hoping for it and anticipating it.
Unfortunately, when the caution came out for Stenhouse, Jimmie Johnson decided to stay out, and once again, would ultimately win the race after Harvick charged up to second in the closing laps with two fresh right side tires. Once again, on a mile-and-a-half track, it's Johnson and Harvick 1-2 yet again. Again. And again. It might seem silly to keep bringing it up, but you have to remember that these are the two guys I dislike the most in NASCAR right now. Out of the four mile-and-a-half races we've had so far this season, three of them have seen Jimmie Johnson win with Harvick finishing second, the only exception being Las Vegas. Needless to say, seeing Johnson and Harvick finishing 1-2 on the mile-and-a-half tracks is getting really old at this point. I stayed up late watching this race and was hoping for a big Truex victory, but instead, it was back to the same old shit that we've seen already for those last seven laps. For me, it was quite a letdown... IMO.
Final rating for the Spongebob Squarepants 400 @ Kansas:
I agree with the majority of the forum in that it was a pretty decent race, but the end of it was a real downer for me considering the two guys who finished 1-2 yet again are the ones I really don't want to see win, so for this race, much like Vegas, I'll go on my Bret Hart shit.
From my perspective, it seems like the 1.5 mile tri-ovals seem to be producing better racing than the 1.5 mile quad-ovals, but in the end, it's just been the same guy winning, so forgive me if my optimism for the rest of the 1.5 mile races is a little subdued right now.
Speaking of which, the next points race is... the Coca-Cola 600. (exhale) I hope this year's running is good...

Eh, personally I don't judge a race or finish by who wins. If it's good, it's good. If it sucks, it sucks. If Gordon (My favorite) won by 20 seconds or in a style like this season's Daytona 500 I'd call it lame as all hell.

Re: NASCAR at Kansas: Attack of the Squarepants
Well, that was quite the crazy finish in the Truck Series race. That's a huge shame for Erik Jones; he'd obviously made it clear that he had the fastest truck all night, I really hate it for him that he was short on fuel. At the same time, Crafton and his team did get it right on fuel, and that earned them the trophy!
While I wish that fuel mileage wouldn't have affected the finish, I thought that this was a very entertaining race. With the exception of some short durations in the middle of the race, there was plenty of exciting action, and the running order from 2nd to 10th never seemed to stay the same. I think that this was another good race put on at an intermediate speedway by the Truck Series.
