Is it just me, or is Austin Dillon and Tony Stewart both sponsored by Bass Pro Shops today?

Also I'm happy the train racing showed up. I enjoy watching people complaining about it lol.

After the Xfinity race yesterday I thought we might see people actually wanting to win... silly me.

That finish was pretty meh. Great to see my man Dale Jr. take his first win at Talladega in 11 years, and happy to see Ryan Blaney get a good finish too.

Not complaining
Re: NASCAR and ARCA @ Talladega
Pretty bleh Dega race.
Nascar can't even have an exciting race at their ratings draw this year.

Re: NASCAR and ARCA @ Talladega
Sooooo much butthurt on my FaceBook feed for a "lackluster" finish. I say that run to the end was plenty dramatic; you had Ryan Blaney hanging on in P3, you had Tony Stewart trying to make a line down low all by himself for the last fifteen laps, you had Earnhardt, Jr. with trash on the grille for the last ten laps while leading and hanging on for dear life. And what else were you gonna do anyway, jump out of line prematurely and screw yourself out of a good end result like Stewart or Hamlin did? You don't need to have a balls to the walls ending to have a good finish.
Anyway, it's always something special when an Earnhardt wins at Talladega. Good win, #88! Respective shout outs to the #21 and the Empire for their respective Top 5 finishes.
(OOC: I was fully expecting the Wreckoning to take place today with Waltrip in the #55. Alas, it was over before it started. Better luck next time. )

Re: NASCAR and ARCA @ Talladega
My question is whether it's the drivers or the aero package that's preventing close finishes....or both. I'm going with both.

Re: NASCAR and ARCA @ Talladega
My thoughts on the Geico 500 @ Talladega:
Dale Jr, my man!
Got a bit nervous when the engine temps started going up at the end, but she held out long enough for Jrrr to finally get win #6 at Dega, and he sure sounded emotional in victory lane, something we don't really hear out of him. Of course, Dale Sr.'s birthday was a few days ago, so... yeah. Pretty big moment. Oh, and Old Faithful coming up from the overflow pipe when he was sitting at the end of pit road afterward got a laugh out of me.
And Jimmie... staying with Jr? And pushing him to the win? WhatisthisshitIcantevencomprehendthismadness!
Alright, I'll admit I'm usually pretty hard on Johnson at times because of my strong dislike of the guy, but for today... I'll cut him some slack. He helped Jr. to the win, and I can roll with that.
On that note...
This race was pretty mixed in terms of the excitement and the racing action. There were times where they would go three-wide eight rows deep, and then we have moments like we saw at the end, where it was one long ass Trulli train, very similar to what we saw in the fall race a couple of years ago when Jamie McMurray won that race. Very bland finish overall, except if you were a Dale Jr. fan and your heart rate was pumping a hundred miles a minute. Also, I was expecting a caution when Edwards and Gordon spun out, but NASCAR kept it green and we actually got a green flag finish for once at Talladega, which has been hit or miss the last couple of years.
Great run by Ryan Blaney, and Jose Wise with a top 10 as well. Blaney might be a budding star in the near future if he gets into some top-tier equipment.
Sucks for Gordon. Once again, he gets nabbed on pit road for speeding and it cost him the win. It's really starting to become a trend for him, one I'm sure he'd like to buck.
My final rating for the 2015 Geico 500 @ Talladega:
Overall, it was an average race with a pretty meh finish, with some exciting moments sprinkled here and there, but for me, seeing Jr. win definitely bumps the score up a bit, so I'll award a solid 6.0/10 for this race. It definitely could've been better, but I really can't complain too much because obvious reasons.
The next race is at Kansas. I'll try to keep an optimistic outlook on this race, but considering what we've seen out of the racing on the 1.5 mile tracks so far this year, I am a bit worried. Hopefully, it'll turn out alright.

An alright race in my standards. Bland finish, but it's to be somewhat expected. AND JR WINNING!!!!!
I'll give it a 6.0/10.

And how about the crowd STAYING IN THEIR SEATS AND CELEBRATING JR'S WIN for at least 15 minutes after the race was over? When's the last time we saw anything like that?

Probably Texas, but that is ,mainly due to the fact they were likely all asleep from the bad quality of racing.

Actually, it's probably the first Kentucky race because they were probably still trying to leave the track.Mother of Invention wrote:PackerMan71 wrote:And how about the crowd STAYING IN THEIR SEATS AND CELEBRATING JR'S WIN for at least 15 minutes after the race was over?
