NASCAR at Richmond: We're Saturday Night Short Trackin'
The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and Xfinity Series make their first visit to Richmond with heavy hearts. I'm sure Steve Byrnes will be a focal point of the coverage this weekend.
Chase Elliott is back to give Cup another go; he and Jeff Green are the go-or-go-homers this time around. Joey Gase is in the 32, Sorenson in the 34, and Alex Kennedy (KENNEDY!) is back in the 33.
The Xfinity race marks the return to the series for Johanna Long, who will drive the No. 03 car for Mike Affarano. (Calm down, Barney. ) Joining her will be four Cuppies: Harvick, Logano, Almirola (in the 98), and Hamlin (neck pending). Erik Jones returns to the 54.
(As an aside, what took us so long? We're slipping! )

Re: NASCAR at Richmond: We're Saturday Night Short Trackin'
Eh, about Mike Affarano's team entering, as much as I wouldn't mind seeing Johanna make the race, I think it's going to be tough for them considering they had troubles entering the NASCAR season to begin with, and that this is their first showing of the year too, they are going to have a rough time trying to make it in. So as much it would be great to see them make it, I wouldn't be all that surprised if they DNQ'd.

I'm on a mini vacation in 'Murica so I will be at this race.

Re: NASCAR at Richmond: We're Saturday Night Short Trackin'
Not Long's fault sadly, it's nice for Mike Affarano to enter a team to try create something from nothing (Foo Fighters reference ), and become something, you gotta start somewhere right!
Re: NASCAR at Richmond: We're Saturday Night Short Trackin'
Also, Brad Keselowski and Kasey Kahne both topped the time charts in Practice 1 and 2. Qualifying begins at 5:45pm EST.
Re: NASCAR at Richmond: We're Saturday Night Short Trackin'
She has DNQ'ed along with Morgan Shepherd. (Yet Harmon has no time, still gets in....) Long's time was 2.9 seconds behind Denny's blistering 21.59! That's faster THAN HALF THE CUP CARS!!!!
Hamlin gets pole, Logano 2nd, Jones 3rd.

The NASCAR community and it's drivers are a brotherhood of sorts.

Aren't they using the new system? Harmon's entered all the races, so he should be safe.

Without even having been around to watch NXS, I can gather that it sucked ass. Go figure.
Though I did see pictures of the fuel fire on pit road. That looked like it came straight out of the Vietnam War.

As far as what I've seen, Daytona was decent apart from Kyle Busch's crash, but it seems that the way it's going we may have to wait until Road America for a good race in Xfinity this season.

So in other words, it's still a massive grease fire. Ten-four.

Pretty much yeah.
Re: NASCAR at Richmond: We're Saturday Night Short Trackin'
Just noticed that Aric Almirola is currently 10th in points despite not having a top ten finish, although he has finished in the top fifteen in five of the first eight races. Not bad.
And despite finishing 29th last week, Martin Truex is currently 3rd in points right now. Very impressive.
And Danica is 13th in points right now.
Lots of unfamiliar names near the top of the standings right now.

Jeb Burton will race tonight, taking over the 23, because he has sponsorship from ESTES (His truck sponsor from last year).
Re: NASCAR at Richmond: We're Saturday Night Short Trackin'
NASCAR has postponed the race until 1 eastern tommorow.
Re: NASCAR at Richmond: We're Saturday Night Short Trackin'
Atleast Nascar didn't have the cars start the race tonight under caution and have them drive around for 3 hours while deciding if they should postpone it.

Good thing we didn't have to hear DW's Vortex theroy.
Re: NASCAR at Richmond: We're Saturday Night Short Trackin'
Found a VLC Stream for the race in HD at least. A bit of lag and for Australia. Works all day, and I've been watching WRC for it this morning as well!

I hope Kurt doesn't get screwed over again.
Re: NASCAR at Richmond: We're Saturday Night Short Trackin'
Halfway point, and the race has been... pretty alright. Not a barnburner like Bristol, but it's been alright so far.

Re: NASCAR at Richmond: We're Saturday Night Short Trackin'
My thoughts on the 2015 Toyota Owners 400 @ Richmond:
Meh, it was alright.
After the loss of Steve Byrnes this past week, I think a lot of us were hoping for a good race. Well... it wasn't necessarily a good race, but it was alright. We had some good side-by-side racing, even though the battle for the lead was pretty much non-existant for most of the race. But seeing Kurt Busch get that win, a particularly dominating win, after everything he's been through and after what happened at Fontana, made up for it.
Good run by Chase Elliott, finishing near the top 15 in just his second start. Just imagine what he could do once he gets behind the wheel of that 24 car.
Other than that, not really much else to say about this race.
My final rating for the Toyota Owners 400 @ Richmond:
It wasn't good, but it wasn't bad either. And Kurt Busch winning certainly adds to it, so I'll give this race a 5.5/10. Like I said, it wasn't a good race, but it wasn't boring either, so somewhere in the middle is where I'll land today.
Next week, we head to Talladega. Oh, buddah.

Kurt wins!
About time. We would of had at least three wins already.
But I guess Kurt is a mean guy and a woman beater even if he was proven innocent because lack of evidence so his win doesn't matter.

Re: NASCAR at Richmond: We're Saturday Night Short Trackin'
Also one more thing, Tony Stewart needs to hang it up. He's done everything in his career, Rookie of the Year in 1999, 3-time Champion in '02, '05 and 2011, he's never been the same since he broke his leg and he's been getting even worse ever since the tragic accident with Kevin Ward Jr. He's way past his prime now.
Re: NASCAR at Richmond: We're Saturday Night Short Trackin'
Kurt Busch brings home the victory! Great to see him win. Also another weird thing occurs with this chase as somebody with 3 less starts is gonna fight for the championship this year.
Pretty middle of the road race, Not good...but not terrible.
