NASCAR @ Bristol
After the borefest that was Texas, the Sprint Cup and the Xfinity Series head over to the Bristol Motor Speedway a.k.a. Thunder Valley in Tennessee. Considering the fact that the racing in Cup in this year has been pretty atrocious thanks to this BS Rules Package with the reduced horsepower, a lot of us will hope that Bristol will pull off some good racing with some good old beatin' and bangin'.

He could have gotten really stiff during the delay and opted not to chance further injury. Very reasonable IMO, as I do have some neck issues on occasion, mostly coming from the damp weather. When it's colder and wet, it does take some more time to get warmed up.

Just when I thought last year's Bristol Spring race was crazy, this happens.

Re: NASCAR @ Bristol
Why does NASCAR need to do this? Kurt already screwed himself out of the victory. /s

Re: NASCAR @ Bristol
What the heck was that restart...
GW Kenseth... After cooling down, he had a great car, and he deserves it...
Allgaier and Danica both get top 5's. Tony and Jimmie both get top 6's after wrecking people.
Wish Larson or Kurt would've won but ah well...

YES YES YES YES YES!
That race was hilarious for all the wrong reasons. But I'm psyched for my favorite driver to get it done for the first time in 54 races. Good win, Kenseth!

Re: NASCAR @ Bristol
Missed a good 250+ laps but from what i saw it was pretty silly. The wait time on that finish was a tad ridiculous...I guess they were doing it for safety but if you running guys out trying to wait on it i'd at least give it a shot and if it fails, just have everyone get fuel and then stop it.
I'm shocked a lot of smashed up cars got good finishes out of it and people who were relatively clean didn't gain much from the shenanigans at the finish.

My thoughts on the Food City 500 @ Bristol:
Yep. It's Bristol, baby.
Big shoutouts go to Stenhouse, who finished 4th, Allgaier who finished 8th, and how about Danica Patrick? Was a lap down on two different occasions, got spun twice, had a lot of damage, and still finished 9th. Very impressive. And with that top 10, she moves past Janet Guthrie to become the leading female driver with top ten finishes in Cup... with 6. Still, she's being doing pretty good so far this season, given the circumstances.
Even with three red flags, because the weather decided to be a prick, the racing was very excellent. Lots of side by side racing, bumping and grinding, three-wide racing and quite the fight for the lead on multiple occasions. Then it got really crazy at the end, and Bristol became the Bristol we used to know and love.
Good win for Matt Kenseth. Admittedly, I'm not a big fan of Kenseth, but he got the job done, and thankfully, he managed to hold off Jimmie Johnson, because I swore to crap, if Johnson would've won the race after acting like a sped earlier in the crash that took out Harvick, who probably had the best car, I probably would've had an aneurysm. But kudos to Kenseth, because he managed to do it on very old tires and was probably running on fumes, considering he pitted with about 150 to go.
And I know that some people seem to be acting a bit anal about the third red flag and being forced to wait on the finish, which I can kind of understand, but honestly, it really wasn't as big a deal as some are making it out to be. At least they managed to get the entire race in, which certainly didn't look like was gonna happen when you looked at the radar at the start of the day, so I'll give NASCAR a pass... this time.
My final rating for the Food City 500 @ Bristol:
Overall, this was easily the best race of the year so far. Very entertaining to watch, even with all the rain delays, so I'll award this race with an 8.5/10. As expected, Bristol kicked some major ass, and not even Mother Nature could stop that.
The next race is at Richmond, which can be pretty hit or miss, as evidenced by last year's races, where we saw the spring race kick ass and the fall race suck ass. Wonder what will happen this time around...

Sad news to report. Steve Burns has passed away from his battle with cancer. He was 56.
