^Entry List/

Welcome to the 2nd race of the NASCAR season! Last week, Joey Logano won his 1st career Daytona 500!

Last time the cup guys went here, Harvick dominated the race until getting involved in a late caution. Kahne won the race after a late restart.

So who will win this year's Atlanta race? Jimmie? Jeff? Maybe even Stewart?

I'm not looking forward to that inevitable day when someone asks me; "Hey remember what happened in the 2015 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500?!"

My response will almost certainly be; "What the fuck was THAT?!"

This is the first race with the new non-plate Power and Aero package; Smaller rear Spoiler and a restricted 750 horsepower. Does anyone know of the driver-adjustable track bar is in the new package or no?

I wouldn't get so down about Atlanta being a really boring race this time. I think I'll be optimistic for this one.

Good choice. I heard they were going after Labonte, which would've made sense as he's known to be good at Atlanta. Nevertheless I'm glad to see Front Row Joe get a shot in relatively decent equipment.

On another note, this race will also be the first test of how the cars will handle with the reduced horsepower. I'm kind of worried in my opinion that it will ruin the racing, but I hope not. Anyone else got any opinions on this?

Laughing Nice.

And Atlanta tends to be one of the more entertaining mile and a halfs IMO, so hopefully we get a decent race out of this weekend.

So it seems several teams did not make it through inspection at first, and couldn't get approved in time to make a run in Round 1.

Where the hell did they ditch it? That thing looks like it's way out in the sticks. My guess is that they didn't know what was inside. Hopefully they will catch the idiots who did this.

On a related note, a friend of my dad had his car stolen under basically the same circumstances (although it was from a place that had a dyno and other equipment). It was a 1987 Porsche 944 road racing car and it was found in an apartment complex in inner city Cleveland, with the lap timer and the seat gone and the driver's cap on the dash facing where the seat was. They never got the trailer back.

Guys, I think we may have another pattern possibly occurring:

>Matt Crafton wins Truck race driving #88
>Kevin Harvick wins Xfinity race driving #88

So if Dale Jr. wins the Cup race, it will be an all sweep for the #88 this weekend.

But I doubt it. His only win there was back in 2004. Scary enough, this is the track where his best average finishing position is highest so you never know I guess.

Start has been delayed by rain this morning, close to finishing drying the track.

According to MRN, the race will likely finish today, with all 500 miles done. Only a drizzle announced today with only a 20% chance.

EDIT : 5 Minutes.

Also, cars that were failing tech was likely because of the SIDE SKIRTS! NASCAR warned teams and told inspectors twice to look at it closely.

Great runs for Truex Jr., Allmendinger, Moffitt and Almirola. They all deserve a job well done Smile

Okay race. There was some good and bad parts, but that's pretty typical Atlanta.

Hell of a run for Brett Moffitt, did not expect a guy with so little experience in the top 10.

Also did anyone else catch that poor Safety Worker tripping up while picking up debris? Laughing

I did. It was the best thing that ever happened in this race.

Speaking of that it was a typical borefest as usual at Atlanta. Good win Jimmie. I guess. And great efforts from the Dinger and Moffitt. A 3.0/10.

I'm really, REALLY hoping MWR will keep Moffitt on the long term, the dude has unbelievable skill, an 8th in so few starts? Unreal. Once MWR has the funds for a 3rd car or if they boot Vickers or Bowyer, hopefully he'll get the spot.

Let me get this out of the way before I give my review on the race. The views and opinions I'm about to express do not reflect the thoughts and opinions of the other members of this forum. If you feel differently about this race, more power to you. I never speak for anyone other than myself, and these opinions are reflective of my own personal tastes, likes and dislikes. Just want to get that out there so that there are no misunderstandings later. Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 215644238

With that being said, here are my thoughts on the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500:

This f**king race sucked ass. I don't think I've ever sat through a more boring Atlanta race than the one from today. And I'm sure a lot of you will say, "Well, you just hate this race because Jimmie won." The Bore Factor of NASCAR winning isn't the main issue here. It certainly doesn't help, but it's not the main issue. The main issue is that this race felt like there was hardly any racing whatsoever, especially for the lead, even though there were 27 lead changes, although most of those were from green flag pitstops. The restarts would make things interesting for about a half a lap, but once the leader got out into clean air, whether it be Logano, Hamlin, Harvick, or Johnson, they would check out to between a two to four second lead, and it doesn't help that there really wasn't a lot of side-by-side racing highlighted back in the pack.

Overall, I just felt extremely bored watching this race, and it took every ounce of willpower to not fall asleep in my chair. Of course, once Borebox got out into the lead on the final restart and pulled away, that was pretty much all she wrote, and was the final nail in the coffin on what was a Godforsaken race, IMO. This race was so boring, I actually had to take a couple of ibuprofen after it was over because it actually gave me a headache. Suspect

Junior getting his second straight 3rd place effort was one positive, so it looks like Greg Ives might be the perfect man to replace Letart as his crew chief. There were also great runs by Truex Jr., Allmendinger, Moffitt and Almirola. And then there was the safety worker falling over while picking up the debris. That seemed to be the highlight race, which shows you just how bad this race seemed to be.

Believe me, I tried to find some positives in this race, but there is literally nothing from this race I would go back and watch. Nothing whatsoever.

The 2015 Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 @ Atlanta gets a 1.0/10. I know that Atlanta can be hit or miss, but this time, it missed big time. I'm sorry, guys. From my perspective, this race just flat out sucked. Ragepuke

The next race is at Las Vegas, another track that is kind of hit or miss. Well, it can't be any worse than this race.

At least I hope not. Laughing

I know it was long as hell but to be honest i'm certain there has been more boring Atlanta races then this one. The only point of the race i felt dragged was the middle portion and as i mentioned above it was a very long race and that seemed prime to happen. (Over 4 hours)

You really can't come into these cookie-cutters with high expectations, a good portion of those tracks haven't had a good race/stretch of good races in over 10 years.

Well, if there was, I can't think of it. Laughing

And yes, I know that these cookie-cutters aren't always the most exciting races, but I just hope that they provide enough of a good race so that I don't feel like I've wasted my precious time.

From my perspective, this race was pretty much boring for four hours, hence why I gave it the score I gave.

For some reason the replay that I was watching skipped from lap 60 something to lap 200 so I'm not complaining. I'm also liking this "hit every non-Safer barrier wall" gimmick Geoffry has.

I think that was the tail end of the interesting stuff and into the pretty dull stuff.
