I get the feeling there will be a screwjob in terms of who starts and who doesn't.

WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT JEB BURTON?!?
Now Alex Bowman is going to miss the damn race because of some hack who got rushed up to Cup too quickly.

Just noticed that "Outlaw" is still written on Kurt Busch's car. You'd think a guy facing very serious domestic violence charges would want to ditch that nickname

JFR has been playing mind games with the whole field,
Edwards blocking everything for 10th... Denny took out 4 cars -___-

Geez, Denny Hamlin really likes wrecking people today. I really hope Ragan makes this race. Say what you want about him on the mile and a half tracks, but he's a really solid restrictor plate racer.

Good Duel races. Was glad to see the underdogs get in.
Whoever put Jeb Burton in that car should be drug tested. This was way too soon for him to get in Cup, and for him to do that to Alex Bowman, who DNQ'd, was just pathetic.
Denny being an idiot? I'm so surprised. Denying that you hit Danica? Dude man up!!!

Danica had a carbon copy of Trevor Bayne's wreck from earlier, Denny just happened to be right behind. Nothing Denny could do otherwise he'd have been run over by Reed.

Orange Cone on Twitter this morning said this:
"Hearing there may be some news re: the 41 car today."
Which, to me, means one of three things:
1) Kurt's about to get fitted for an orange jumpsuit,
2) NASCAR wasn't keen on his maneuver to push Danica into the 500, or
3) The car flunked post-race tech and is out of the 500.
My bet is 1, but don't be surprised if it's 2.

I would say it would be more of 1 or 3 over 2. I don't recall there being a bump drafting rule in Cup since the aero package limits it enough. I could be wrong though.

I'm wondering if it was less the actual thing Kurt did and more the possibility of team orders directing Kurt to do it since he'd have the past champion provisional if it didn't work as well as it did.

Team Orders? Then JGR should get the 19 and 11 kicked out for that they did last night!!! Trying to only help each other, blocking the whole field, heck.... Edwards not going with Bowman PUT HIM IN THE BACK FOR THE WRECK!!!
Re: 2015 Daytona 500
Also, I like Burton, he did say that it was his fault... He screwed up, besides, he'll learn, stuff happens. Sucks for both him and Bowman

Yeah, I doubt NASCAR will do anything to the guy who put Danica in the race. Besides, I thought Kurt's "heroic sacrifice" was kinda cool.

Could have been referring to this.
de31168, a guy from another site wrote:
NASCAR Clarifies Chase Eligibility: To be eligible to compete in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup, drivers must start each race for which they have qualified, unless the sanctioning body finds reason to waive that requirement. That change, announced in a bulletin on Wednesday morning modifies the language of Rule 17.6.2.1.a, which last year required drivers to attempt to qualify for each event to retain Chase eligibility. Under the current provision, drivers still must attempt to qualify for each race, but they also must start every race for which they qualify successfully, unless NASCAR authorizes otherwise. A driver does not lose Chase eligibility for attempting to qualify for a race and failing to make the field. The clarified rule would apply in a situation where #41-Kurt Busch, for example, were to qualify for the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte, race in the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday (as he did last year), but fail to return to Charlotte in time to start the Cup race. In that event, NASCAR would be unlikely to grant a waiver. On the other hand, NASCAR already has indicated that #55-Brian Vickers, who will miss the first two events of the season while recovering from offseason heart surgery, retains his Chase eligibility because of a medical exception

Here lies Kurt Busch's career. Thirteen years in Cup is good enough I suppose.
NASCAR has been going down hard recently. They didn't need this, never mind all the shenanigans with points or qualifying.

I applaud NASCAR for taking swift action. Don't mean to sound insensitive, but hopefully Smith can get more Cup opportunities out of this. He's all too deserving of a better place in Cup.

Re: 2015 Daytona 500
Quite honestly, I think this is the end of the road for Kurt Busch. I completely doubt he'll ever Race in NASCAR again because of this, which for me is very disappointing because I became a fan of him during his one year at Furniture Row Racing in 2013 when he was giving that 78 car some amazing results and making it into the Chase. Now it's as if he built up all this Maturity for nothing

Re: 2015 Daytona 500
Kurt Busch has had a long string of problems with anger and violence and general misbehavior. That is what got him fired from Roush and Penske, arguably too of the best teams in NASCAR, and in Penske's case one of the best in racing period.
This is probably the worst thing he's done, and if the allegations are true he shouldn't be racing in NASCAR for a long, long time if ever. Violence against women should not and cannot be tolerated. Period.

This this this. The irony is that things were finally looking up for Kurt Busch after last season, of course apart from the issue we now have with Patricia Driscoll. He won a race for the first time in two seasons, let alone at the track he's got an outspoken abhorrence for, Martinsville. To me, and provided just how much we're being told is true, it begs the question why Kurt would go and do something like this. It's the final nail in the coffin of his career, or at least it sure looks like it.
Though, given the context of the court's reasoning for Kurt's indictment, which is apparently the judge openly chose to ignore perjury from Driscoll (which certainly raises an eyebrow, mind you), I do think the suspension is a bit untimely. With that, I retract my former statement. I'm hearing people say this is NASCAR wanting to look cleaner than the NFL, and it probably is. But I can't really blame them for at least trying when NASCAR as it were is falling hard for all sorts of other issues.
Going back to Driscoll for a minute, it's also curious that with this supposed perjury at play and people accusing Driscoll of being a liar and a manipulator, I don't see any legitimate proof of that beyond Kurt Busch's lawyers accusing her with perjury. And in my mind at least, there's a few things that don't add up still. If Driscoll was manipulating Kurt, why would she want a no contact order? I don't see the point...
Hate that Regan Smith takes the #41 at Kurt's expense, but I'm psyched that he gets a decent shot in a Cup car again. He never really got the chance to show that his Darlington win was not a fluke. At that, I'm not really concerned with the shakeup that's going to unfold in Xfinity if he gets the #41 Cup car full-time. I hope he does.

Remember when he won a championship as well? That's the worst thing because he had worked so hard before then to win the elusive championship, and now at this moment he is all washed up. It's like I've been punched right in the gut today. I don't give a damn what else happens in this case, Kurt's Racing career is done and dusted. I simply cannot believe that he took his temper to a whole new level and created a situation that should never have happened if he learned to control himself.
Bye bye the Outlaw, it was nice knowing you.
Re: 2015 Daytona 500
Also... Regan Smith's wife is expecting their first child soon, so that may get Regan out of the car. Maybe at Daytona, or in the next 2 weeks.
