2015 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona
As we have come to know as fans of motorsports the winter time has been always been a time of no racing/no fun. (well with Formula E now it's scarce rather than none) But at the same time it makes the hunger for our loveable racing cars to come back much more stronger when the new year comes, and as we get into the dying days of January the party is about to get kicked off once again...But before it kicks into high gear the racing season likes to give us a little sample of the cake...A pre-show more less, and what better way to get in the motorsports season mood then a cake that lasts 24 hours! I'm talking about America's grand 24 hour sport car race The Rolex 24 at the Daytona International Speedway presented by the TUDOR's United Sportscar Series/IMSA.
Last year's had it's moments of good and bad, Good as in the the closing battle in the GTD class between the Level 5 Motorsports Ferrari driving by Alessandro Pier Guidi and the Flying Lizard Audi driven by legendary European GP race leader in 2007 leader Markus Winkelhock in which it was ended by a wild side by side move that ended in the grass which gave the win to Level 5. Good for the Action Express tag team of the final boss of 2000's Champ Car Sebastian Bourdias, Joao Barbosa, and Former Champ Car/We don't talk about his NASCAR career Christian Fittipaldi who took the victory in last year's race and with the same tag team back again for another war with the 24 can they do it again? The bad side of this last year had the horrifying crash with the GTLM Risi Competizione Ferrari driven by Matteo Malucelli and the Gainsco/Bob Stallings Racing DP driven by Memo Gidley in which the faster DP slammed into almost stalled GT car ending in one of biggest frontal impacts that we've seen in racing for years. Gidley has not raced since the accident and is still recovering from the accident but recent reports have said he will be able to get in a race car again sometime in the future. Matteo Malucelli is currently not entered for the Rolex 24.
Who knows what wild moments and crazy stuff we'll see this year? Will we see another neck and neck battle? Will we see a surprise team come up in the win race? Will we see the 3 hour fog full course cautions that we've come to see in the morning hours? Who Knows!
For the Americans watching the race the schedule for where the race is airing goes like this.
From 2:00 to 4:00 PM EST will be on the main FOX channel
From 4:00 to 8:00 PM EST will be on Fox Sports 2

James has never done V8 Supercars, but is cousins to Will and Alex Davison.

Re: 2015 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona
I've really started to enjoy sports car racing more and more over the last couple of years. I'm very much anticipating this race to kick off the new year! (Especially since I lost the last 5 hours of last year's Petit Le Mans - the last race that the TUSCC has run - in a DVR mishap.)

Re: 2015 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona
Some other notables
* The Ganassi team ran second and third.
* The defending winners of the race, The AER #5 was 4th.
* The DeltaWing was fifth.
* A seriously amateur-ish Ohio effort called RG Racing (driven by businessman Mark Kvamme, who if I'm not mistaken was appointed to an economic development board by Governor John Kasich in the not too distant past) qualified 11th, and outpaced a few Pro cars.
* The Kings of LMPC, CORE Autosport came second in class.
* The Vettes set a new track record.
* Porsche had a disasterous run in GTLM, coming in 8th, 9th, and 10th.
* The #009 Aston, which included former F1 driver Eliseo Salazar as an "amateur", did not set a time. The GB Autosport #81 and the Extreme Speed Motorsports #1 Honda prototype did not either.

no, the UFC was the one that got interrupted by the basketball so UFC got moved to FS1
Also I would venture to say UFC brings in more eyes then USCC

The two factory Porsches took each other out overnight. Un-f**king-believeable.
Re: 2015 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona
Apparently, from what I watched in their Stream, Andy Lally was driving normally and suddenly the possum swerved into the track, and Lally didn't even knew.

Not sure why, but seeing who the driver was at the time (Francisco Longo), I wouldn't be surprised if it was by major idiocy.

The #44 had a ton of smoke pouring out at around the same time, it might've been oil but I haven't heard for sure. If it was then that was probably it.

Felt bad to hear about that in more ways than one, not only did it kill an animal (wasn't anybodies fault), but it took them even more out of contention.
