Spoiler:
Delgado Praises Lareau Show

Brandon Lareau brought home DeGarmo-Delgado Enterprises' first points this afternoon at Road Atlanta, finishing one lap down in 17th place. After his teammate, Tom Moore, went out early due to apparent gearbox issues, Lareau did a fine job of keeping the car in one piece and securing a top 20 result for the first time in 2014.

"Brandon put on a fine show, it's always nice to get a points-paying finish. Most of the DDE crew don't know what that's like, so they're living it up while they can. I made sure to give Brandon a nice pat on the back for a job well done. With any hope, we can start to make our appearance in the lower points a semi-regular thing" Co-owner Tom Delgado said afterwards.

Brandon Lareau now sits 32nd in the driver's championship, 18 points behind Independent's Trophy campaigner Ryan Matthews for 20th place.

Caldwell: Mummert must "drive more carefully" in future

Kraig Mummert started 27th in the third race of the 2014 TM Master Cup Series season at Road Atlanta on Sunday. Attrition and a car that was just fast enough helped the Murfreesboro, Tennessee native and resident finish 16th in MT Motorsports' season debut in its second Independents' Trophy campaign.

But the end of the ride was bumpy. Twice, Mummert put what was just the team's second points-paying finish in its brief TM Master Cup Series history in jeopardy with silly moves in the closing stages of the race. First, as leader Zelda Ashby attempted to lap Mummert coming into Turn 10A, Mummert hit the curb on the inside of 10B, and sent the two spinning into the gravel trap. They managed to keep it going, and Ashby still managed to win the race, thanks to having a large lead over Leonid Roderick when the incident occurred. Mummert was handed a 30-second active time penalty, which amazingly did not move him down the order.

Mummert eventually let Ashby through, and then Roderick, hoping to catch Ashby, approached Mummert, hoping to lap him quickly. Mummert, though, would not let Roderick through, and it looked at one point like Roderick would dump Mummert at Road Atlanta's famed Esses. That never happened, but Roderick had harsh words for Mummert in his post-race interview.

Despite being happy with finishing in the points, MT Motorsports owner Fred Caldwell didn't appreciate his driver putting he and the team on a roller coaster of emotions towards the race's end.

"There was no need for Kraig to drive like that," Caldwell said. "He could've let Zelda and Leonid through, and would not have been in any danger of falling out of the points. I know we have big-time sponsorship now, but, we don't need our stuff torn up. I'm proud of him finishing in the points, but, in the future, he must drive better, with less aggression, particularly when he is a backmarker."

Mummert was the race's highest-finishing Independents' Trophy driver. This is the second time he has accomplished this feat. Last year in France, Mummert finished eighth, again the highest of the IT candidates. It was MT Motorsports' first-ever Master Cup race.

Mummert is coming off an off-season in which he was in rehab, recovering from the broken leg he suffered in a violent crash at Queensland last September. He also experienced joy, as his wife, Jennifer, gave birth to the couple's second child, daughter Charlotte, on their fourth wedding anniversary, December 19.

MT Motorsports' next definite Independents' Trophy race is July 6, the 13th round of the season at Grand Detour, a race Mummert nearly won driving on loan for Bolden Speedstable in 2011. Like all IT candidates, they will head to Finland for Race 7 on May 4, hoping to qualify for the prestigious Karjala Grand Prix. For that race, and the other special events, the team will enter four separate cars: one for Mummert; one for Brian Morris, with whom Mummert is sharing the 114 car in regular races, and will drive at British Columbia later in the year; one for the team's TM Lights driver, Lane Cranston, who won last week's Lights event at Carbondale; and one for the team's FARC Elite Series driver, Jon Halks, who will be making his debut in a TM Master Cup car at Karjala. The team is hoping to get Halks experience in a TM car before his expected promotion to Lights in 2015.

Keegan Mallory: "Officials were sloppy and inconsistent at Georgia"

In an interview with Irish TV before his debut race at Brands Hatch, Keegan Mallory had some interesting things to say. Most interesting was how he was worried about the officials in regards to what he called "Sloppy and Inconsistent rulings" during the round of Georgia. Mallory said he felt that Louis Kingston got absolutely no penelty for what he thought intentionally spinning Carlos Roqueta while Kraig Mummert got a penelty for what is essentially he felt a driver error. Mallory stated "Kingston has a history of doing stuff like that, he should have been given a time penelty too."

Mallory will be running the #76 at Brands Hatch for DHRE.
