2014 Grand Prix of Italy - Formula 1
Ah, the fastest circuit on the calendar. Great place for the Mercedes duo to run away from the field...and possibly into each other...again. Nico's lead over Lewis swelled up again, but Daniel's starting to get a bit bigger in that rear-view mirror. Is the Aussie gonna make it three wins in a row, or is it back to normal with a silver car topping the podium? Or, could this be the race where Bottas gets to the line first?

And Dani Kvyat has become the first driver this season to have to use a sixth engine. He will receive a 10-place grid penalty.

So, it's yet another Mercedes lock-out on the front row. but it's the other way round this time. Hamilton claims his 5th Pole Position of the year, his first since Spain, with teammate and rival Nico Rosberg starting 2nd. Valtteri Bottas starts 3rd for Williams, with teammate Felipe Massa alongside him in 4th. Kevin Magnussen of McLaren starts 5th, as the rest of the Top 10 consists of his teammate Jenson Button 6th, Fernando Alonso 7th for Ferrari, the Red Bull's of Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo could both only manage 8th and 9th, while Sergio Perez of Force India starts 10th.

Ted Kravitz said at the start of FP1 that Vettel will have to same thing happen to him at Sochi.crl wrote:And Dani Kvyat has become the first driver this season to have to use a sixth engine. He will receive a 10-place grid penalty.

Sergio Canamasas getting black flagged for being a complete stooge in the second GP2 race. Everything is right with the world.

Straight lined Ascari, rejoined without slowing down and cutting across the nose of I think Quaife-Hobbs which led to Gasly and Markelov having an accident. Couple laps later dived across the kerb at the Roggia chicane, spinning Binder who gets beached on one of the kerbs before rejoining and running into Marciello at the first Lesmo. Successful day I would imagine for Canamasas..

You know you screwed up big time when Will Buxton wants to bury you live on air.

In fact, during the Porsche Super Cup race Martin Haven told Matteo Cairoli, 18 year old leader of PCC Italia, to calm down and not to pull off a "Sergio Canamasas"

The battles for 5th-11th were really good though, especially Perez v Button

It was actually a pretty good race. I'd give it a 8/10.
Re: 2014 Grand Prix of Italy - Formula 1
Wonder if the Hamilton fans will admit he only won today because of a Rosberg mistake, since they like to say Rosberg has only won this season because of certain things? Unlikely.

Regardless of who they support, I think the majority of British Formula 1 fans are incredibly dumb.

I very much prefer Rosberg over Hamilton, but really Hamilton won it from a lot more than a Rosberg mistake. Mistake at the start dropped him to 4th, worked his way back up to 2nd and pressurised Rosberg into a forced mistake. In contrast to Rosberg where Hamilton retired from Australia and started 9th in Austria and 20th in Germany.
EDIT: Very strong words of Will Buxton on Sergio Canamasas, but is this what a commentator should be saying? http://willthef1journo.wordpress.com/2014/09/08/enough-is-enough/

Jesus that's a burial in a half. I haven't seen much of GP2 this year due to it being more tape delayed then usual in the states so i don't have an idea of what Canamasas has been doing all year but Monza was pretty ridiculous.Milan655 wrote:

Interesting what he says about Cecotto, yet didn't Cecotto wreck somebody who let him by in practice earlier in the year and it a absolute ridiculous fashion.

If his points are valid, and they are (not to mention, many, many GP2 drivers have expressed concerns about Canamasas), then, yes.

Wow! I have never been all that interested in GP2... but if this Canamasas is that much of a weapon. Then the FIA needs to act!

That was last year. Cecotto's actually been pretty well behaved this year.

I could've sworn that was this year like as old as 2 months ago.RetrogradeRenegade wrote:Alta wrote:Interesting what he says about Cecotto, yet didn't Cecotto wreck somebody who let him by in practice earlier in the year and it a absolute ridiculous fashion.
