Rodriguez on the Early End

Post by JINXaPHRENIC on Wed Aug 27, 2014 3:00 am

"That was totally uncalled for. I'm not sure what the hell that guy was thinking by diving to the inside. Jon Halks is the tool mentioned in the opening commercial. I hope he gets some sort of penalty for such stupidity. I hope Ashley Tucker can get the team a spot in the feature since I was taken out by a total tool. I do hope Allie is okay. She went for a bit of a ride. See you all next race." -Jinx Rodriguez

Spoiler:
Jon Halks responds to Joel Rodriguez: "He hopes I get a penalty for that? That's rich. If Macena didn't get a penalty for his dumbassery in New York, what makes Joel think I'm gonna get a penalty for that?"

Spoiler:
Matthews happy with 5th place effort in Sprint 1:
2013 was a lousy season for Ryan Matthews on dirt.

But in 2014, he's liking the surface just fine, thank you very much. Matthews notched his third straight top-5 run on dirt in Sprint 1, claiming a fifth after turning in a solid fourth-place qualifying effort. He also has a win and a second place at Buffalo Downs to his credit.

"I'm really starting to like driving on this stuff," he said. "I used to hate it. I've always been an asphalt kind of guy. But I'm coming around."

"It helps when we do as well as we've been lately," he added with a laugh. "Now we just have to hope it carries over to the Feature."

Spoiler:
Kerry Ians hurt but mainly O.K. after horrific accident

Spannerhead Racing driver suffered a horrific accident while fighting for the lead at 70/77 Speedway in the Bert's Used Lingerie 100 50/50 Sprint 2. Kerry head on into the tyre wall on the outside of turn 4 at roughly 100mph. Kerry got out of the car by himself but struggled to walk back to the pits. "I'm pretty winded at the moment, I'm not looking forward to waking up tomorrow" Ians said on OEN shortly after the crash. "I just got above the cushion into the loose stuff, and couldn't bring the car back down. Boy am I glad there's about 8 rows of tyres there, because that was a sudden stop."

50/50 Sprints:
Fochesato Finishes 4th in Sprint 1 @ 70/77 Speedway

The FARC Elite Series Powered by Smash Beer, in an apparent display of lack of common sense, returned to the half-mile dirt track known as the 70/77 Speedway in Cambridge, Ohio this week for the second year in a row. Sprint 1 saw thrilling action on the track and competitive racing for position, as well.

Italian FARC LoBo Truck Tour driver Vincenzo Fochesato, after starting the race in 16th, would finish in 4th place in his first visit to the track.

Said a very excited Fochesato when he climbed out of his car; "This place is awesome! That was even more of a blast than I thought that it would be! I'm so, so glad that we got a top 5 today! My first race on dirt in the Truck Tour race at Buffalo this year was, um, a real embarrassment for me, but just two dirt races later and we're in the top 5; I can't believe how well this team prepared for this race. I owe them a lot for a car that good!"

Today's 4th-place finish is Fochesato's third-to-best finish and third top 5 of his short FARC Elite Series Powered by Smash Beer career, as well as his best result on a track that is not a superspeedway.

"This finish is twice as awesome for me because it means that I get to race here again tomorrow!"

Spoiler:
"Congratulations Ashley! Great job on getting the win! Unfortunately I wasn't there to run with you but hey, you got it done girl. As for that tool Jon Halks, you're right. FARC doesn't seem to care about stupidity and shitty driving this year. I did not catch the second sprint but I did see the feature, and quite frankly, some of that driving was horrendous. I'm officially requesting that FARC start doing something about the lack of driving standards around here. As for Tool Halks, I'll take care of him myself." -Jinx Rodriguez

Re: (Elite Series) Bert's Used Lingerie 100

Post by NeverNeutral on Wed Aug 27, 2014 4:27 pm

Spoiler:
Scott Picks Up Best Finish of Season
Richard Scott has not had an ideal sophomore season in the FARC Elite Series so far, but showed at 70/77 Speedway that he's still capable of getting top results. Scott picked up a 3rd place finish in the feature race, tying his best career result and earning his second career top 5. It was his best finish of the season.

After the race, Scott was asked about the collision that took Scott Dalitz out of the feature, and debunked announcer Scott Bush's claim that he intentionally turned Dalitz.

"Visibility was pretty poor on the backstretch, to start. Way too many people were running way out of the groove on the high side, trying to get a run off the corner, when all they were doing was hopping on the cushion and creating those big dust clouds. Either way, if [Bush] was looking at the replay he would pretty easily see that I was holding my line coming out of 2, and Dalitz just tried to chop down right in front of me without being clear. When we made contact, he just kept turning down, like he was expecting me to back off for a space that wasn't there. Anyone knows I don't race people like that, I'm not like that Hayes hack."

Spoiler:
Sweet victory; Ashley Tucker picks up first win in 70/77 Feature since injury

Only a few months ago, Ashley Tucker was injured at New York Autoring, but since then, in as many races, Tucker has scored 6 consecutive top 10 finishes, but it was the feature at 70/77 Speedway that stood out from all of them.

Tucker had been quick all weekend, scoring a 7th place finish in her sprint, but she was at the right place at the right time when the green-white-checkered came; the lead. Tucker managed to pull away from Zachary Zins on the restart and she took her 4th career victory and 2nd for Bjorn Green. Ironically, it was her first win under green flag conditions at an oval, because of the green-white-checkered rule, otherwise she would have won under caution again.

"We've definitely come so far since the start of the season" said Tucker, "but now we are probably one of the best teams out here. We haven't dropped a top 10 finish since I picked up my injury, and that goes for the 90 team as a whole, including what Tom [Delgado] did at Lake Afton!"

Tucker's husband Tom Delgado substituted for her at Lake Afton, the race she missed from her injuries, where Delgado picked up a win and a second place finish.

With her win and good recent form, Tucker skyrockets in the points, from outside the top 20 to 7th. With her bad start to the season, including missing the Smash Beer 500, and missing several features and the whole weekend at Lake Afton, to be this high in points show how good Tucker really is with the Bjorn Green team.

Spoiler:
Matthews 'pissed' over lack of patience; sees points lead dwindle, for now:
Ryan Matthews' feature race was over before it started.

The FARC points leader entering the Bert's Used Lingerie 100 feature race lasted two laps before being taken out by an incident involving Vincenzo Fochesato and Monica Rook.

"Goddamnit I'm pissed," he said after climbing out of his wrecked race car. "What the hell was Fochesato doing, racing that hard that early?! He took out a lot of cars with that stupidity, and the officials really need to address this. This whole weekend has been plagued by too many drivers being too aggressive too early."

Matthews did, however, escape the weekend holding onto the points lead, but that lead has diminished to 20 over Jim Hayes, who seemed to forget that cars are solid objects.

"I'd love it if the officials did something to him after that," he said with a wry grin. "It would make my life easier, believe me. But far be it for me to lobby. They're going to do what they're going to do."

Spoiler:
Gabriel Macena: "FIX THIS FUCKING GARBAGE DUMP"

After the end of his race, when he accidentally clipped the#114 during a huge pileup in turn 4, brazilian rookie Gabriel Macena was very vocal to the conditions of the track: "FIX THIS FUCKING GARBAGE DUMP! Racing in dirt is nice, but the way that this track is, is just fucking unnaceptable." - Ten minutes leader he stromed off and accepted his finishing position of 16th after beating his rival Cade Taylor in the sprints.

Spoiler:
Webster Very Happy with Weekend Despite Engine Failure

Yeah, it didn't go as well as he had hoped for, but Zack Webster returned to Accelerator Motorsports' team shop the day after the Bert's Used Lingerie 100 with a smile on his face. Even though the 41 engine expired on Webster during the feature race, Webster says the team still "has a lot to be proud of."

After getting points in both his 50/50 Sprint and the Feature in the Karl's Superstores Showdown last weekend, Webster rode a wave of momentum to the 70/77 Speedway and made the most of it in the 50/50 Sprint. Webster rebounded from an early spin to charge all the way up to 2nd when the checkered flag flew. This was Webster's ?fourth? top five of the season, and fourth career runner up finish.

Webster's Feature race went about the same as his 50/50 Sprint... Without the finish... After running up front most of the race, Webster blew an engine under caution and had to settle with a 23rd place finish with another DNF added to his 2014 resume.

In a season that has been plagued with DNFs and problems in nearly every race Webster has competed in this season, he didn't seem too shaken up about this DNF.

"The car was just great all weekend. I expected something to maybe change on the car between the 50/50 Sprint and the Feature, but it didn't. That's probably the best #41 car I've driven all season--heck, that's probably the best car I've driven my whole career!"

"I tried to get slowed down for the wreck in front of me in the 50/50 Sprint and when I went to get on the brakes, the back end just stepped out and I just had to ride the spin out. Luckily we didn't hit anything particularly hard, and the car was just awesome from then on. The inside line was certainly the place to be all weekend long. We picked back up on that next long green run and just kept picking them off one, two, even three cars at a time down on the inside lane. We just kept fighting and fighting, and we were able to bring it home 2nd. I was kind of glad that race didn't restart under a Green-White-Checkered, because I knew we would be in trouble in the outside line. Luckily FARC doesn't run GWCs in the 50/50 Sprints, so we were fortunate enough to finish 2nd under caution."

"The Feature probably went better than the 50/50 Sprint with the exception of the finish, to be honest. We narrowly avoided that first big wreck there at the beginning, and this car just kept getting better and better as the race went on. Sort of struggled with it on the long run at the start, but even that got better and better. Got fortunate with the caution for I think it was the 10 car, but I'm not sure. We got trapped on the outside and couldn't get back down, so it was nice to get that caution and line the field back up single file. There before the engine blew, the car was not only really good on the restarts, but we were also able to hold our position in the top 5 for most of the race. The blown engine really was a shame. I felt like this chassis probably could have won the race, but I am glad that if something on this car had to break this weekend, it was the engine. We can always put a new engine in this car. It would have been pretty difficult to rebuild this chassis if it would have gotten wrecked, and then have it run as great as it did this weekend."

"This team just continues to build as the season goes on. I think that if we can get rid of the mechanical failures, wrecks, and just have a clean race--I feel like we might could win one of these races before the 2014 season is over."

Webster has never won a FARC race, but has finished 2nd four times. This team looks to continue to build, and hopefully get Webster a win before the end of the 2014 season.
