NASCAR Tripleheader Weekend @ Bristol
This week we come to what is known as "The Last Great Coliseum", the Bristol Motor Speedway.
When the Cup Series was at Bristol back in the Spring, Carl Edwards took the checkered flag after a very long day of racing. Can he pull off the Bristol sweep or will Jeff Gordon and Kyle Busch have a say in who wins this race? I'd keep an eye on Jimmie Johnson and Ryan Newman this weekend, as their fighting doesn't appear will end anytime soon.
Entry list pending.
Kyle Busch has recently dominated the Nationwide Series at Bristol, winning the past 3 races at the track. Can he make it 4 in a row? (I really hope not...)
Entry list pending.
Kyle Busch has also recently dominated the Truck Series at Bristol over the years, winning all but 2 races since 2008. Johnny Sauter and Matt Crafton were able to keep him out of victory lane at Michigan, will they be able to do the same here?

There's a slight chance I could miss every race due to work being pushed and V8's.
Re: NASCAR Tripleheader Weekend @ Bristol
According to MRN's Dave Moody, Jeff Burton will once again pilot the 14.

Kyle Busch wins pole. Cole Custer starts second. Hornaday JR 3rd. Brad 4th. GRAY GAULDING 5th!
Re: NASCAR Tripleheader Weekend @ Bristol
I am honestly wondering if Stewart will sit out the rest of the year. It looks to me like he is quite uncomfortable with the whole Ward situation

Imagine the field day that NASCAR media will have if he comes back for Daytona and wins it. They'll be sucking him off like there's no tomorrow.
More than they already do.

If you are in certain areas of the country, you are going to have to watch the race tomorrow on a different channel than usual

43 laps into the Nationwide race and the first caution is out for - you guessed it - Jon Wes Townley spinning off of 2.

To be honest, I think Kyle sort of has a point, but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy seeing him lose in Nationwide/Trucks regardless.

I'm not sure I would count on this race going the full distance tonight. We're supposed to get a hell of a lot of rain, though it's pretty clear right now...

Great race. Had all the shades of the Bristol most of us came to know and love.
Sucks Logano had to win though, Brad threw it in there though.

Re: NASCAR Tripleheader Weekend @ Bristol
I wouldn't want to be in that team meeting at Gibbs on Monday.
Yet another great race at Bristol, with lots of racing for the lead, the lapped cars being douches, and some of the angry Bristol stuff we've grown to love from this track.
Kevin Harvick, by the way, gets Reject of the Race. Hamlin may be kind of douchey himself, but what Harvick did was just bullshit. I know Harvick can be aggressive, but that was way too early in the race to be doing that shit.
Lolgano starting to polish his turd of a career into gold. Three wins this season, with the Bristol night race among them. This is what we expected of Logano when he was rushed up to Cup by Gibbs. Now that he's had a few years, his potential is starting to show. Like him or not, he's a championship contender.
The Irwin Tools Night Race @ Bristol gets a solid 7.5/10. Sprint Cup is really wracking up those solid scores this year.

I know people don't like Joey Logano for reasons X, Y, and Z, and that's fine, but let's face it -- the kid's a hell of a talent, and I always knew he was. I can't speak for his attitude, but at least he's better than Kyle Busch.
Not a bad race at all. Good win, Joey.
(I guess I was wrong about the rain being an interference, by the way. Dat vortex theory mang.)

Re: NASCAR Tripleheader Weekend @ Bristol
I'm not convinced just yet, Penske is honestly the best team in the sport this year as Brad is a favorite for the title and how these cars are making Logano look good. I want to see Logano run this well in a year where Penske is not the best team in sport.kensethfan wrote:I know people don't like Joey Logano for reasons X, Y, and Z, and that's fine, but let's face it -- the kid's a hell of a talent, and I always knew he was. Before people say "Oh it was a Gibbs!" Kenseth was dominant last year and despite Gibbs as a whole being pretty meh this whole year so far Kenseth has at least stayed competitive through out it.

Awesome race. Can't believe I'm saying it, but Logano is doing a solid job this season. Keselowski gave it a final go. And a Penske 1-2. Reject of the race is Kevin Harvick. No contest at all. No excuse for pulling that BS of a move before the halfway point in the race. Honestly, I've lost some respect for Harvick for that. Some.
I'll give this race a 8.0/10.

I'm leaning towards this, really. The mark of a great driver can always be found in what they do in not-great equipment, and it's really showing this year at Gibbs, with Kenseth 5th, and Busch and Hamlin down in 17th and 20th. Logano's been good, but the question remains, what will he do when he isn't regularly being given top 5 cars?

Last year, Penske wasn't good... First year with Ford, Brad missed the chase and only won at charlotte. Logano ran better than him, made the chase and won Michigan, those Ford's were not the best cars in 2013, 2014 though, Penske found something that Roush didn't. Still needs a great driver to race a great car without wrecking it! That's why he has 3 wins!

I disagree if for the stats. The reason Brad had more attention is because he was the defending champion and the struggles he had.
I do agree with you Alta that Joey is probably going to be one of the final four.
