Shell Belgian Grand Prix - Formula 1
The Formula 1 Summer Break - which was one week shorter than it has been in the past - is over, and it's time to resume a tight fight for the World Drivers' Championship, as the best circuit on the calendar (Spa) looms large.
Apparently, there are rumors that Max Verstappen is replacing Jean-Eric Vergne at Toro Rosso this weekend. If this is true, JEV may as well go find himself a ride in Formula E, because no F1 team is going to fork over a drive to a guy who lost his seat to a teenager.

Vergne may not be the only one with an extra week off, as reports are that three time 24 Hour of Le Mans winner Andre Lotterer will replace Kamui Kobayashi for this race as well.

Well, Toro Rosso have announced that Max Verstappen will join Daniil Kvyat in 2015. He'll be 17. You guys never heard of GPs 2 and 3?

Isn't there a minimum age in F1 like there is in NASCAR and Indy Car?

No because usually common sense prevails and team owners wait until drivers are out of puberty before shoving them into the greatest racing series in the world.RealRacer4 wrote:crl wrote:Well, Toro Rosso have announced that Max Verstappen will join Daniil Kvyat in 2015. This means that someone at the FIA looked at this 16-17 year old and said yeah thats okay, approved for a superliscense. Cant wait to see him fall flat on his face.
And what the hell happened to Carlos Sainz Jr? Did we forget about him??

Re: Shell Belgian Grand Prix - Formula 1
I was 17 when I graduated high school.
This is straight up nepotism. Toro Rosso is figuring, since the young Russian is doing fine, they can bring in someone younger and get the same results. I'm not sure, and this is a lot of pressure to put on a teenager. Maybe F1 should enforce an age limit, because this is ridiculous. At least Sauber had the good sense to not put Sirotkin in the other seat after all.

Lotterer has apparently been confirmed to replace Kobayashi for this Grand Prix only. Not sure what this says for Caterham, wouldn't be surprised if Kevin Giovesi replaces him at Monza too.

Autosport's Jon Noble says confirmation coming soon on Lotterer.

I do at least think in my opinion that Alex Rossi does have actual talent, even if he only is in a Marussia for the Race.

Re: Shell Belgian Grand Prix - Formula 1
There's been a few occasions (Monaco springs to mind) where he would have picked up a much better result than Ricciardo, but because the car broke, he didn't.
I also think he stopping caring about this year a long time ago.
So he's right.

Re-correction at Marussia, Alex Rossi will not make his debut in the Belgian GP replacing Max Chilton.

He probably fell asleep at the wheel. Just another continuation of Maldonado's stupidity.

For the first time in a couple of races it wil be an all Mercedes lock-out on the front row, with Rosberg leading the way from Hamilton.

What a joke. I knew that collision between Hamilton and Rosberg was gonna happen.

Rosberg is the driver at Mercedes with most of the luck...
Unfortunate that Lotterrer had to stop after only 5 laps.

Hell of a job by Ricciardo. Hamilton's title chances are getting slimmer and slimmer.
Awesome racing for 5th between Vettel, Magnussen, Button and Alonso.

Rosberg made the race very boring after lap 2. Very meh race until closing laps.
Good run by Raikkonen though. He may be back in form.
Some boos on the podium for Rosberg.

At least Ricciardo winning made me happier. He was able to take advantage of the misfortune of both the Mercedes driver's and pounced perfectly.

Kevin Magnussen given 20-second post race penalty for forcing Alonso off the track. Drops him from 5th to 12th, elevating Danill Kvyat into the points...again...

Actually, Hulkenberg was the beneficiary of that. Kvyat finished 10th in the original order.

Re: Shell Belgian Grand Prix - Formula 1
I have looked at the replay mutiple times, and to me I believe when Hamilton went into the 2nd part of the corner as thoug he just held his line and Rosberg slightly misjudged getting back in line behind him, although I'm still not yet sure to call that Racing deal or one or the other's fault.
Re: Shell Belgian Grand Prix - Formula 1
Wreck was misjudgement on both parts to where the other was. I get the feeling somebody took Rosberg's quote out of context as well.

Hamilton on Crash.net wrote:“It looked quite clear to me but we just had a meeting about it and he basically said he did it on purpose,” Hamilton said. “He said he did it on purpose, he said he could have avoided it. He said 'I did it to prove a point', he basically said 'I did it to prove a point'.
"Basically" does not necessarily prove Rosberg admitted to it. "Basically" suggests this is what Lewis wanted to hear from whatever Nico said.

A thousand times this.
I heard the actual comment was that he kept his nose in there to prove a point, but Hamilton + the British media taking it out of context because the British media see Rosberg as Satan and Hamilton as God.

It's the British media, they are always try to defend Hamilton regardless if it's his fault or not.
Maybe if Hamilton stopped being too much of a hypocrite then people wouldn't hate on him as much.
