Interest in an EFR Community Carset?

Post by Rykia on Tue May 06, 2014 6:52 pm

I've been toying with the idea for a while and decided to ask now.  Just wondering if anyone here would be interested in an EFR Community Carset, where users here all pitch in and paint x amount of cars.  So, does this sound like a good idea?  A bad one?  Don't care?

As long as there's some sort of quality control over it. Other NR03 community carsets have ended in disaster without it.

Depending on the mod(s) used, I'm interested

What I propose:

-First carset will be on the Original Cup mod due to the large quantity of templates.
-No pre-made bases (though I'm kind of iffy on this, I think this is the best route to go)
-Only real manufacturers and sponsors for this one just to set boundaries.
-As Tom said, some sort of quality control will be upheld.
-Some sort of order as far as number claims go.

Anything else or anything that should be changed or clarified?

I actually think we should limit which templates to use, and also make a standard set of contigs.

Another possible limitation is the amount of cars someone can make, depending on how many people want to paint cars and how many cars would be in the set.

I'd be up for it, but I don't think no pre-made bases is a good idea, and if it were up to me, I'd have it on the Gen6 mod. Just my two cents though...

I'd prefer original Cup because there are so many templates available to use, and I don't think we should limit ourselves too much.

I agree with the original mod choice and I have a few templates that people could use should they want to... I have:
2013 Camry
2013 Chevy SS
2013 Fusion
2013 Charger
2003 Toyota Celica

I've started organizing this (regulations and stuff) and I'm considering the four bolded as templates for this first set, though I might consider some other manufactures as well to give others more options.

I think at least getting some European manufacturers (BMW, Lotus Volvo) would be good since those templates are available.

I'd be in on this only if no pre-made bases is a thing. Also, this is the home of the Weird-As-Hell-Templates, so it's really pointless to not use them.

This is a cool idea, but as Cynon said, it would be a lot more interesting to use the hundreds of templates we have. Most cars with the NR2003 community are always the 4 generic cars. It'd make it less creative if we didn't use them.

I'd be in favor of using the templates we have here, but I do have to ask though, is this carset happening at all? If it is, we might want to make a final decision on what we're going to do and get to it. Wink

Sorry about leaving this for a while, folks. Life's been busy, as of late. Finally have a couple free nights to myself.

Revisions to my original proposal in bold.

Rykia_RKXK wrote:What I propose:

-No pre-made bases (though I'm kind of iffy on this, I think this is the best route to go)
-Only real manufacturers and sponsors for this one just to set boundaries. I think I'm actually more in favor of strictly fictional manufacturers now, for the sake of obscurity and originality. Still unsure about sponsors, I'm thinking either only fictional sponsors or fictional and real, but I don't like the idea of limiting this one to real sponsors only.
-As Tom said, some sort of quality control will be upheld.
-Some sort of order as far as number claims go. I don't think multiple people painting a car for the same number is a big issue, and I don't want fighting over numbers, but I'm still on the fence on this one.

Anything else or anything that should be changed or clarified?

Input is welcomed and appreciated. I'd like opinions from as many others as possible. Very Happy

All for original Cup, for the same reasons everyone else has stated. IMO, it should be all real sponsors and manufacturers, but with an exception for sponsors from Papyrus games.
