This describes bullying so well. There's always a victim, but the second the victim stands up to the bullies, they're the ones that get punished, & the bullies get of scot-free. The way in which schools handle bullying is fucking atrocious (& this is from experience)

Sounds like the bully has friends in the administration.

Most modern day public school principals should be working at McDonald's. My mother works with one of those.

Anyway, this story is another example of why education in this country shouldn't be mandatory. If you wanna dick around and not learn, then stay the fuck home. The kids who want to learn - just like the poor kid in this story - would be better off. Teachers are there to teach, not fucking babysit.

If I were this kid's principal, this bully would've been out on his ass on the first strike. We got too many wimps running schools these days.

I grow more disillusioned on our justice system everyday and this type of s**t just reinforces my thinking.

Having been bullied in school when I was younger, reading stuff like this really gets my blood boiling. I can't even comprehend how it gets worse with faculty members, dealing with bullies as the years go by. I also wonder how some of the faculties working at the schools get hired at all.

You know, I have read a lot about bullying cases coming out of School Districts Pennsylvania. I know in Ohio, there is a uniform bullying code that all Districts are required to follow. Maybe they don't have that in Pennsylvania?

Erm, I'm sorry, but what?! If anything, I think high school should be more like college -- less busywork, and focused on larger projects to demonstrate actual learning and application. There are exceptions, such as lower-level mathematics, but I always found worksheets and the like to be pointless and to only exist so that idiots have a better chance of passing.

I had a few classes in high school that only had 4 or 5 grades the entire semester, and those were projects that you had to put effort into.

I would rather have a large percentage of the population be trained to do more intellectual work.

When I was in high school, most of the people that used to bully me all the time stopped when I learned to stick up for myself and get a sense of humor. I'm not advocating physical violence, but I do understand the kind of torment this kid went through.

I once had a Basic Computer Applications class that had 363 assignments in one semester.

Agreed 100%. If we could do it that way from the beginning, I think it would also give kids a better appreciation for education, which seems to be the other big issue these days... You can't expect kids to be high-performing if they don't feel there's anything at stake.

I can confirm that we do not.

I doubt that this school shows no concern for bullying, but the way this case has been mishandled is ridiculous. There's a point where common sense needs to come before any possible paranoia of "invasion of privacy".

I just learned to deal with it once I relaized that I wasn't always going to be in the same school or classes as the kids that bullied me. Besides, I always got punished worse for "sticking up for myself" than the bullies ever got for anything.

Had I been the kid, I would have told the judge to lock me in the klink, and if you want the thing deleted, you'd have to pry the thing from my cold dead hands.

Update to this story.

Apparently, the charges have been dropped, and there's even a petition on change.org to have the principal removed from his position.

Well, at least this is a step in the right direction.
