On one hand, it would be nice to have less and less of the drivers who are in the top tier dominating and participating in the lower tiers, however, my personal opinion on is that this would likely piss off the teams who put said top drivers in lower tiers so then therefore the development programs, if there are any left would go out the window.

Simply putting it, piss off big teams and big drivers means no new talent would rise but I am for limiting top tier drivers cause I am sick and tired of hearing of how talented Kyle Busch is. Yes, he has racing talent but he needs to prove it more on the big boys stage where he has the lowest number of his wins at 28. I get it, for them its fun or its for owner championship but still.

Under the circumstances, I can't imagine NASCAR would suspend him, but who knows.

Also, for anyone who did hear yet, Hamlin has been cleared by NASCAR to compete again. During the tests, a small piece of metal was found in Hamlin's eye. Doctors removed the metal and Hamlin's condition began to improve, and a CT Scan performed shortly afterwards showed no other problems.

Also, hearing a news report that Hendrick Motorsports have signed all 4 of their drivers to lifetime contracts. Jeff Gordon confirmed to the media today that he has signed a double lifetime contract, ending in a lifetime from now. Chase Elliott is now being subjected as a prospect to the #41 car, after NASCAR's decision to park Kurt Busch for winning Martinsville after he made contact that took Brad Keselowski out of the race and "murdered" his car. Charges are pending on the vehicular car-slaughter case on the eldest Busch

Sad News - Billy Standridge: former NASCAR driver Billy Standridge passed away of cancer at 1:30am/et on Saturday, April 12, 2014. Standridge made 23 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts from 1993-1999 with a best finish of 14th in the 1995 Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. For services and visitation info or leave a comment at the blog set up by Billy's family, go to: Billy's Battle, a site for posting and sharing information for Billy Standridge.
Jayski.com was the listed sponsor of the #47 Ford at Talladega in October 1997. I made a page back in 1997 with some notes and images of the #47 Jayski.com Ford at Jayski's Talladega Experience page.
Three cars entered by the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller team in Friday's VFW Sport Clips Help A Hero 200 Nationwide Series race at Darlington Raceway carried decals honoring Billy Standridge. Standridge also raced in the Nationwide Series from 1986 to 1993. JD Motorsports owner Johnny Davis formerly worked for Standridge as a crew chief, engine builder, truck driver and all-around mechanic. The Standridge decal was carried on the C post of JDM Chevrolet's driven by #01-Landon Cassill who finished 12th, #4-Jeffrey Earnhardt (20th) and #87-Kevin Lepage (19th) at Darlington and will run in other races this year.(4-12-2014)

I presume it was a jayski fail (it usually is) but his best finish wasn't a Southern 500, it was actually the 400 mile Spring race.

On one hand, this is unfortunate, but on the other this isn't surprising. To be doing poorly like they have been (not that I was really expecting them to be competitive) and expanding from one mediocre full-time team to two mediocre full-time teams with sponsorship deals that never seem to last anything, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if all the funds for this team are dried up or the owners don't want to invest anymore into the money pit they created for themselves.

I don't even know why the team bothered expanding to 2 cars to begin with. I still hate seeing this regardless though.

Aside from expanding to two cars, it looks like Bill Romanowski is no longer involved with the team, which would certainly help explain their funding issues.

Hopefully they'll at least pull a Dragon Racing and have Whitt and Kligerman share one car. It would be a shame to see them disappear.

While I'm not too surprised, it's a shame if the team really is shutting down. Not sure where else Whitt or Kligerman could go if this were to happen; they're both deserving of rides somewhere in NASCAR.

I like Kligerman and Whitt, but I personally feel like they were moved up too quickly.
Especially Kligerman. He only had one full season in Nationwide before being thrown into Cup. Its a shame with all of the rookies we had this year, somebody was bound to get knocked out sooner or later.

Nelson Piquet, Jr. will move to Global RallyCross, joining fellow NASCAR/F1 has-beens Scott Speed and Travis Pastrana.

Nelson Piquet, Jr moving to Global Rallycross: The newly-formed SH Racing Rallycross team announced it will contest the 2014 Red Bull Global Rallycross season with Formula 1 and NASCAR superstar Nelson Piquet Jr. behind the wheel. The team will campaign the #07 Ford Fiesta ST, a factory Ford car constructed by OMSE. The car will showcase the BSN N.O.-XPLODE livery at six of ten Red Bull GRC races this year, including the 2014 X Games Austin. Nelson Piquet Jr. will be moving to Global Rallycross after spending the past four years working his way up the NASCAR ranks, where he became the he first Brazilian to visit Victory Lane in the Nationwide Series by taking the checkered flag at Road America in 2012. Piquet Jr. is best known for his time in Formula 1 with the ING Renault team, starting as a test driver and graduating to a full-time ride. (Fuel Sports Managment)(4-22-2014)

Piquet showed so much promise in 2012 and it just crashed in 2013. His most noticeable run last year involved taking out like 6 cars at Mid-Ohio.

XXXTREME BUYS OUT SWAN RACING!!!!!!!!!!! The Jayski Copypasta Thread - Page 3 215644238 The Jayski Copypasta Thread - Page 3 215644238

Swan Racing announced it has successfully restructured the company by finding solutions for the #26 and #30 teams in an attempt to save the jobs of the crews, the drivers, and to keep those teams competing throughout the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. As a result, Anthony Marlowe has merged his ownership of the #26 team into BK Racing, effective immediately. Cole Whitt will remain behind the wheel of the #26. The #30 team has been sold to John Cohen of XxxTreme Motorsports, which will operate the team going forward and intends to compete with veteran driver J.J. Yeley. Stephen "Bones" Lane will serve as crew chief and be joined by several other former Swan Racing crewmembers. Driver Parker Kligerman remains under contract with Swan Racing, which will seek to identify options for him to get back on track. Team owner Brandon Davis issued the following statement:
"I want to first thank our employees, fans, and others in the NASCAR industry for their patience and understanding over the past several days while we work out the future of Swan Racing. As previously stated, the team is restructuring due to a lack of additional funding. However, over the past couple weeks we worked tirelessly to find an alternative to ending operations. Fortunately, we were able to find a home for the #26 team and the #30 team thanks to Anthony Marlowe and Jonathan Cohen respectively. "Anthony and Jonathan are both young and ambitious NASCAR enthusiasts. It is important to keep them in the sport for the long term. I am very relieved to know that the #26 and #30 teams will be in good hands and will continue to compete the remainder of the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season. Most importantly, most of the team members have the opportunity to continue their employment in the sport and to support their families. This was critically important to me. Swan Racing is exploring any and all options to keep Parker Kligerman on track throughout the season. We are encouraged by the response we have received from interested parties. Parker continues to be one of the most talented young drivers in NASCAR. He brought this racing team one of its strongest results in his first race with us, and we are certain of his success in the future.(Swan Racing PR)(4-23-2014)

I hate to be a mood killer here but they can't even make it to a race track without some sort of financial trouble or whatever it is that's holding them back. At least this will help keep one of the Swan Racing cars in business for the time being.

Well on one hand, I find this interesting but doubt it will go anywhere. At least not for awhile.

Just days after several Sprint Cup champion contenders had issues with where the rubber meets the road in Richmond, NASCAR officials met with representatives from Michelin at the R&D Center in Concord, NC. The timing of the Tuesday meeting is coincidental considering the rash of failures experienced by competitors in both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series last weekend. According to a Michelin source, however, it was a "mid-level meeting" that was scheduled before the Richmond race. "It was generally a get-acquainted and get-familiar with the tech center, and some relationship building," said the source. It likely also involved some regional and "grassroots" possibilities that could involve NASCAR and Michelin to partner. Michelin already supplies tires for the NASCAR Europe series, and also is a supplier for the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship's GT-Le Mans class. The TUDOR Championship is the NASCAR-controlled sports car series that was formed by combining Grand-Am and the American Le Mans Series.
The other three classes in the TUDOR Championship have Continental as the lone supplier. The GT-Le Mans series competitors can run whatever tire brand they choose. At the 24 Hours of Daytona, the tire of choice was Michelin. At the 12 Hours of Sebring, the only team that did not run Michelins was the Falken Tire-sponsored car. Michelin North America is based Greenville, S.C., about 100 miles south of NASCAR's Research and Development Center. Michelin reportedly is interested in bidding against Continental when the TUDOR Championship rights expire. Continental renegotiated its contract following the merger of the series and is in the first season of a multi-year deal. The exclusive Goodyear contract with NASCAR's top three touring series, including Sprint Cup, runs through 2017.

Isn't that...illegal? I mean, there's got to be some kind of case they can make. Fraud? Breach of contract? Extortion?

The Petty family is not doing well right now.
Patricia Petty, wife of Maurice Petty and sister-in-law to Richard Petty, passed away Sunday, May 11. Richard Petty offered the following statement: "We all love Patricia. She was another cornerstone in the Petty family and was always there for Maurice and allowed us to do what we loved to do. She was just another special part of the family. We'll miss her and give our love and support to Maurice and his family at this time."(Richard Petty Motorsport)(5-12-2014)

Since this sort of counts as a NASCAR general, I'll put it here. Just days after NASCAR made thelp2008.com to take down there NASCAR content, NASCAR's official Youtube channel have upload hour long package's of famous races, such as 2003 Darlington, 2007 Daytona 500, and 2012 Watkins Glen.
