Ben Atkins wrote:Yeah, the music was wayyyyy too loud, and I actually am not a confident person in general, but I'll try put more enthusiasm into my commentary for race 3!
I don't belive enthusiasm is a huge factor, granted it wouldn't hurt, but, your analizing of a race is very good, and I feel enthusiasm will come as the series gets history behind it, look at the TMMC, Cynon really started getting fired up during races in 2010 and 2011. Which compared that to 2007 which was the series debut. So enthusiasm will come with time. Music was quite noisy, Try using a background theme that doesn't stand out, becuase the background theme is well, the background. Other NR2003 leagues suffer from this, and ones that have been around twice as long as the Dash Cup.

- Spoiler:
- Tremblay and Glencooke succumb in turn 2 crash
The news nobody wanted to hear... both Glencooke and Tremblay have died as a result of the last caution at Corby Community Hospital; Tremblay at 12:35pm Monday and Glencooke at 3:45pm (GMT). It appeared both cars had clashed windshields, in Dash Cup's biggest freak accident in history. Tremblay, 24, is survived by his father, Jacob (who was in this race), his mother, and his girlfriend.
PENALTIES:
#68 Steve Aboagye - Parked for 3 races and 15 point fine for causing an avoidable incident under caution damaging at least 5 cars.

- Race 3:
Top 5 Finish bittersweet as two drivers would perish after the last caution.
Rockingham Road Course - Michael Dougly would start in 2nd place but fell quickly back to 4th place where he stayed until the end of the race. He was able to avoid being wrecked in the many incidents behind him, including the one that took the lives of Tremblay and Glencooke.
"This isn't supposed to happen." Michael commented post race, after he was told that he wound up pushing Glencooke up into the tire wall, which Glencooke then flipped and then smashed into Tremblay's car. "I'm really sorry, even if the officials don't deem this my fault, I may still leave, I'm too much of a danger to other drivers."
He and team officials that were there would give their condolences to the two teams and the families of the drivers that perished. Dougly would most likely be replaced by Ashley Ambercroft.

[OOC] I'd like to apologize for the sloppy presentation of the race at times. Sony Vegas was being a massive problem, and the static at one point in the video never covered the whole screen due to a rendering failure or something. Once again, sorry.

It covered up what it needed to. You couldn't really see anything. Besides, this explains why the mic was a little warpy.

Re: Dash Cup Season 2 - Original Thread
- Spoiler:
- Stanton's best finish of the year overshadowed by tragedy
Willard Stanton had a great run at the 2012 Rockingham GP, finishing 6th overall and bringing home a relatively clean car. However, all this seems to be on the back-burner now, due to the horrible accident in turn 2.
"What just happened?" were the first words spoken through Stanton's radio as he saw the carnage in his rear-view mirror.
"Glenhooke flipped," said his spotter in responce, "Looks like he took someone else with him."
The exchange referred to the horrible crash that occurred mid-way through the 2012 Rockingham Grand Prix, in which Shawn Glenhooke tuned sharply towards the inside wall, hitting it at full speed. The car then dug into the grass, began barrel rolling, and flipped into the entrance of turn two, where his still-flipping car was hit by Ben Tremblay. Both drivers were killed in the accident.
Stanton wasn't informed of the drivers' fate until after the race's conclusion.
"I don't know what to say," Stanton told reporters in the paddock, "It's just...something you don't think that could really happen when you're out there. I mean, sure, you hear about drivers dying in crashes, but...when it happens in the same race, in the same car your in...it...it really hits home."
Stanton says he doesn't plan on quitting racing as a result of the incident, saying that it's a part of the business.
"I want everyone to keep those men in their thoughts, but life still goes on. We do what we do because we love it. We know the danger. Ben and Shawn knew the danger. It's just something we have to live with."
RIP Shawn Glenhooke and Ben Tremblay
OOC: I think your commentary was much improved from last time. You weren't mumbling and I could hear you clear as day. And like flyingturns said, don't worry too much about the static, it did its job well enough.

- Spoiler:
- Tragedy at Rockingham: Tremblay and Glencooke Perish in Wreck
After what seemed to be a regular day at the racetrack for the Dash Cup Series, it quickly turned to tragedy. After a caution for debris, the field took the restart and immediately saw Shawn Glencooke's #9 RBS Westockin Speidel machine veer towards the inside wall in turn 2, impacting it at a great speed, and came barrel rolling back up the track and was hit by 24 year-old Ben Tremblay. Both drivers were taken to Corby Community Hospital where they perished. Both cars seemed to have windshield damage.
The Westockin Speidel Racing Team was the last team to leave the track, as they waited for good news regarding the 36 year-old Shawn Glencooke. Good news did not come.
The team released a short press-release stating:
"We are deeply saddened by this news. Shawn was like family. He was one of the happiest and brightest individuals in the paddock. We are not worried about the rest of the season right now. Now, we send our condolences to Sarah, Shawn's wife and his two kids, Jake and Mary. We would also like to send our condolences to Mr. Tremblay's family and friends. It is a dark day in the Dash Cup world. Good bye, Shawn and Ben."
The team also informed the press that if they return to the paddock for the next race, the team will be sporting all-black uniforms and possibly an all-black car with no sponsorship in memory of Shawn.
Re: Dash Cup Season 2 - Original Thread
- Spoiler:
- Justin Keith to run a black car for Brands Hatch
Justin Keith broke down in tears after hearing that both Ben Tremblay and Shawn Glencooke were killed in the horrifying wreck.
"I've known Shawn for a few months now, and we became good friends, this hurts me to see not only him, but also to see Ben go....I hope the rest in piece."

Re: Dash Cup Season 2 - Original Thread
- Spoiler:
- Hughes to give his winnings to Tremblay and Glencooke's families.
Jakob Hughes didn't say anything after hearing Tremblay and Glencooke had both passed away after the massive crash.
"I don't know what to say, I just don't want to remind myself of what happened in front of me. The orange car and the RBS car wrecking in front of me, I just knew it wasn't going to be pretty at all. I said to Pedro about the whole deal about the whole thing and I asked him if I could run a black car for the race at Brands Hatch over the phone and he said 2 people died, so what, like I care for them anyway, you're keeping the counter strike car."
According to witnesses, Hughes apparently had a massive argument with Pedro Lopez over the phone with Hughes throwing the phone away. Hughes was angry with Lopez and starting smashing stuff in his garage, then people and drivers came in and attempted to calm him down. Hughes then went back to his hotel and more drivers heard him going off at Pedro Lopez. Lopez said that he would fire and kill Hughes unless he gives at least 90% of Hughes winnings to him. Hughes said that he was not doing it. Jakob is hunting for someone that wants him as a driver.
Trying to make a storyline along this.

Dash Cup Officials Release Statements About Weekend
"First off, concerning the fatal accident on lap 27, we will be looking into how we can reinforce the roofs. We are shocked that a driver was killed in the accident, never mind two. We will be developing a new car for the 2013 season. This could be minor changes, such as reinforced roofs and windshields, or a totally new model altogether. We are also planning to drop Rockingham from the 2013 schedule due to the large amounts of crashes this weekend. We send our condolences to the Tremblay and Glenhooke families also.
Secondly, we said after Eurospeedway, the crashing under caution will stop, and yes, we have been extremely harsh with the penalty to the #68 team, but enough is enough. We warned him after Norisring that he was on a thin line, and then he wrecks 6 or 7 perfectly good race cars under caution... we are not tolerating that, and this is a final warning to all drivers that we will impose very harsh penalties for crashing under yellow flag conditions at ovals. The penalties will only get harsher.
And finally, we are looking into the case with the #05 team, driver Jakob Hughes and owner Pedro Lopez."
Team Kwik Fit Also Release Statement
"Before we start, we must send our condolences to Ben and Shawn. Both were good racers, and we even had the pleasure of letting Ben drive for us once or twice when he was young. Rest in Peace.
The case with Steve Aboagye... we are not pleased with him, and we fully support the officials decision of suspending him. We may even take matters into our own hands after this. We have spoke with officials, and during the rounds of Brands Hatch, Oulton Park and Nurburgring, we will have Harriet Wallace replace him. That is all we will say at this point in time. Thank you."

Dash Cup Officials Shut Down #05 Team; Hughes to Atlantic
The Dash Cup officials released that they have gathered enough evidence to shut down the #05 team and prevent Lopez from owning a Dash Cup team ever again. The main reason they stated for shutting down the team was for the safety of driver Jakob Hughes. Unfortunately, this seen Hughes out of his ride, which is where Atlantic Motorsports came in, in the decision to give the #31 car to Jakob Hughes when Verity Logan is not in the car. He will run an unsponsored #32 car during the races that Logan is in, meaning that Hughes will still make every single race.
"Hughes is a talented driver" stated owner Ben Atkins. "We're glad to have him on our team, and I'm glad we can fund his campaign and Verity's at the same time. We are optimistic for him"
(If you want black schemes, get them in quickly please )

Race 4 will be up tomorrow. I'll render it overnight tonight, since it's looking like the render could be up to 3-4 hours long, and me being the impatient person I am, I figured it would be best to do it overnight

Funny you should mention that, because I'm actually looking for more part-timers. Just PM me the driver schedule (up to 5 races) and driver/car info and you should be good to go.

Dash Cup Officals Release News on 2013 Models
After the tragedy that struck at Rockingham, and various accidents that caused heavy injury to the drivers in the past, Dash Cup officials have been working on making a new car that would change the racing forever. This has finally been fully developed, and various teams have had the chance to test these cars.
"Yeah, these cars handle so much better, they're so much fun to drive too, and they will keep the people safe too." said Daniel Miller, one of three drivers who have tested the new car. "I'm happy to be a part of the testing."

Re: Dash Cup Season 2 - Original Thread
Ethel Grimshaw documentary released today
4-1-12: The success and tragedy of 92 year old Ethel Grimshaw still lies fresh in the minds of many within the Dash Cup Series. As a one-off rookie driver with a underfunded team, Grimshaw managed the impossible. In her very first stock car race (let alone first taste of driving a high performance vehicle), she pulled off a huge upset victory in the first race of the new series. A senior citizen winning a stock car race is simply absurd, yet Ethel Grimshaw proved the naysayers wrong.
The next week however, Grimshaw suffered fatal injuries in a race ending multi car pileup at the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The documentary, titled "Too Fast for Age" chronicles Grimshaw's decision to pursue one of her bucket list dreams: driving a race car. The film has recieved widespread praise among critics and was called a "work of excellence" by Ebert and Roper and described as a "must see" by former Daytona 500 winner Michael Waltrip
The film, already a award winner at the Sundance Festival, premieres across the country tonight at 12AM.

I'm severely confused. The results for Brans Hatch linked to in the thread are completely different from the ones on TMPedia. I'm inclined to side with TMP on this one since I'm almost positive Daniel Miller won the race.

The film, already a award winner at the Sundance Festival, premieres across the country tonight at 12AM.
btw that was not in the canon, the series is now

Well, that's embarrassing. Those are the results... for what was going to be the next race. Now I need to re-run that.

Nurburgring deemed unsafe; race moved to Mallory Park
After a turn in events, one of the Dash Cup's more anticipated races has been cancelled after the Nordschliefe layout of the track is deemed unsafe to run. As a result, Dash Cup officials have decided to make the England Tour longer by a race, and go to the Mallory Park Oval in Leicester. This will now be the shortest track on the Dash Cup schedule, at just 1 mile long.
"Safety is a massive factor in our league now after Rockingham. Nurburgring is an iconic track, but we can't take the risk of having a car go off somewhere on the course, and us not being able to locate it. The walls also are quite lethal, it seems, as they can easily send the car into a roll. Again, we don't want that on such a narrow track, and thus, Mallory Park said they would host the event instead." -Dash Cup Officials Statement
(OOC: I couldn't use either version of the track, since on both the cars float. Mallory Park is a much better track.)
