- Late Models at Croft 150 - Race 1:
- Marianna Palazzo Takes First Career ELMC Victory in Race 1 of Late Models at Croft 150
A driver from a small village located on the Italian riviera, 22-year-old Marianna Palazzo has been impressing many in the inaugural season of the European Late Model Challenge, with three podium finishes in the first nine rounds of the season.
Today, Palazzo's 4th career podium is the first in which she stands upon the top step.
The drivers of the ELMC took to the track at the Croft Circuit this week for the 2014 season's 4th weekend; the Late Models at Croft 150, consisting of races 10, 11, and 12 of the championship. Palazzo started round 1 of the weekend in 2nd on the outside of Filippa D'Ambrosio and quickly settled into 3rd. Determined not to fall back to 4th, Palazzo spent the entirety of the 34-lap race fending off challenges from René Bisson.
This battle for 3rd would become more important than anyone had been imagining, as Mireille Allain experienced an engine failure while running in 2nd on lap 25, and the pole-sitter D'Ambrosio would self-spin from the lead shortly afterwards on lap 27. Palazzo would inherit 1st place, but a scary slip-up in turn 2 nearly saw her lose control of her car. She was able to correct the car, and proceeded to continue her fantastic defensive driving, holding off Bisson all the way to the checkered flag for the victory.
An ecstatic Palazzo said in an interview on the podium, "I cannot believe it! It is very amazing to win a race! I love be here at the first, um, do you say stair, of the podium and I want to thank all everyone who have supported me so so so so much for it! I am very, very happy!"
Prior to the ELMC, Palazzo had raced karts in Italy since 2002, when she was 10 years old. Her only experience in full-sized race cars was some very small late model events at the Motodromo di Castelletto di Branduzzo (approximately 200 kilometers north of her hometown) in 2012 and 2013. Similarly to now, she had raced a Lenard Q9 numbered 42.
Her victory makes her the fourth person, and the first female, to win a race in the ELMC.

Wimbledon round cancelled, Warneton finale made double points across 2 races
The Wimbledon round of the ELMC has been cancelled following football club AFC Wimbledon's planned purchase of the stadium. As a result, series of organisers have been forced to cancel the round and instead have made the second Warneton meeting at the end of the season a two race special (rather than three) and have made both races double points.

Re: EuroV8 Cup
Round 5 at Zandvoort has been posted: http://formularejects.com/tmpedia/2014_European_Late_Model_Challenge_season
The races were generally very un-captivating, hence only results posted.
Silly season 2015 begins..
STS and Indama join 2015 EuroV8 Cup grid
British manufacturer STS and the Malaysian manufacturer Indama have been officially confirmed as the 3rd and 4th manufacturers of the 2015 EuroV8 Cup grid, joining the Italian FIAM and Japanese Kanako.
STS are set to use the popular STS Arrow and are aiming at a 3 car factory team sponsored by Greenflag Motoring Assistance. All 3 seats are yet to be confirmed, however all 3 drivers are expected to be from the European Late Model Challenge with Callum Morgan and Mattais Schleir seemingly the main candidates for the drives. 5 additional STS will be made available to privateer teams, although no teams have yet come forward to claim the cars.
Indama, meanwhile, will be racing in Petronas colours with Malaysian touring car legend Brendan Azmi and one other un-named driver. The team will comprise of only two cars and the Malaysian company have agreed with EuroV8 officials that in the first season of the series the manufacturer will only have 4 cars competing across the year contrary to the 8 that each manufacturer was required to have.
FIAM confirm two works team, two privateers
FIAM will contest the 2015 season with 4 works cars, 3 of which will be run under the FIAM Engineering banner and the other under the Castrol FIAM team. Of the FIAM Engineering cars Vittorio Amati and Gianni Corelli have both been confirmed with Jean-Marc Perreault a front runner for the third car, while Dash Cup third driver Franco Giovanardi will drive the Castrol FIAM.
One privateer team for FIAM has been confirmed with Scuderia Modena contesting with Alessio Fabiani at the wheel of one car and an unconfirmed driver in the second.

Mackintosh Motor Sport expresses interest in STS
Mackintosh Motor Sport, who have entered the European Late Model Challenge this season beginning at Zandvoort, have expressed interest in switching from Lenard to become an STS manufacturer team in 2015. It is a big announcement from the new team, who have only competed in one round of the series so far. They had some decent finishes, with Becky O'Rodagh picking up a 2nd and a 10th at Zandvoort.

Re: EuroV8 Cup
- Spoiler:
- Rough Race in the Rain for Palazzo @ Brands Hatch
The three-round European Late Model Challenge event at the "Indy" layout of the Brands Hatch Circuit in Kent, England included the series' first rain race, as the competitors had to deal with the elements in addition to the circuit and each other for the third race late in the day.
Among the many racers who struggled to keep their cars under control in the wet was Marianna Palazzo. The Italian experienced trouble cornering in the final set of turns throughout the race, spinning into the left-side wall once and simply running wide and into it on other occasions throughout the remainder of the event, inflicting heavy damage upon the driver's side of her Lenard Q9.
"This was very difficult to race today" stated Marianna Palazzo, after scoring an 11th-place finish in the rain. "I never raced in rain, and I had troubles racing the final corner. Cannot do it right and hit the wall many times. I am happy that I got an eleventh! It is more better than crashing."
Palazzo finished the first round of the weekend in 14th, and finished 7th in round 2. She currently sits ninth in the overall points standings.

Snowdrift to field a car for 2015?
Announcement came shortly after Round 7 that the longtime Dash Cup team will be fielding a one car operation for the 2015 EuroV8 Cup season. It's rumored that Australian Touring Car driver Aaron Collinson will be behind the wheel, but nothing is confirmed at this moment in time. It's also rumored that they will go with the number 11, their traditional number. It was stated that they will have everything announced by the end of the 2014 season.

New Spanish Team looking to join the grid in 2015
Several Spanish newspapers have mentioned that a new Spanish team is looking to join the grid at Euro V8 Cup in 2015. It was also mentioned that the provisional name of the team is: Mediterranean Motorsport
The rumours came after Jose Bautista, manager of young driver Carlos Cardona said that he is hoping of setting up a new racing team somewhere in the future.
Also when asked about how will the driver lineup shape up, he said:
"Well, i don't think i can answer that question yet. All we need to do is just wait. We have only applied to take part for next year so, we will wait until the officials respond to us. If plans are looking good, then i'll be sure to name some of the drivers i'm interested in. But i do believe that our main challenge is to get at least one Spanish driver to the team to help with the money backings and sponsors."

Mediterranean Motorsport finalised a deal with Pedro San Jose, 2nd seat awaits against 4 drivers
It looks as if Pedro San Jose's plans for 2015 appears to be confirmed as he finalises a deal with the all-new Spanish team to race for them in the 2015 V8 Euro Cup, while the 2nd seat will be between 1 of the 4 drivers.
Maria Perez (Mex) Former DashCup Driver
Sean Sanchez (Mex) Former DashCup Driver
Ramon Lorenzo (Spa)
Gabriella Castell (Spa) Former DashCup driver
Pedro San Jose is set to drive the No.26 F1AM Automobile.
It has been reported last week at Mediterranean Motorsport has already sent offers to all the 4 drivers in which all the drivers strangely has yet to respond to them. Despite that, the team are hoping to get a response from any of the drivers in time for the first pre-season testing day in Barcelona.

While I'm compiling the Warneton video, which will hopefully go up this weekend but no promises, here are all the 2015 details and requirements:
The deadline for cars and ratings is the 2nd March 2015. This gives you just under a month to get your cars in. However, I will happily take up any requests for painting.
The FIAM CinqueTC, STS Arrow and Kanako Senshi templates are all here:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/wcac3m
Ratings package:
The only section you will need to fill in is Section 1 as all circuits next season will be run on a roadcourse, while the cars ratings will depend on which chassis your team is running. These ratings are balanced (with the exception of the Indama which is intended to be slightly slower and unreliable) to ensure competitive and close racing throughout the grid. Base ratings for all teams cars (section 3) are set at 55-75.
The ratings stacks to be applied are +10, +5, +0 and -5 as it was last season.

Aaron Collinson confirmed for ride
Aaron Collinson, a young Australian Touring car driver has signed onto Snowdrift's EuroV8 program. He has brought a sponsor, VIP Petfoods along with him from Touring Cars. The Team also will go with STS to match up with their Dash Cup car.

Autosprint wrote:Trueba expanding into EuroV8?
There are strong rumours from Turin that locally based team Trueba Racing Team will expand their racing programme into the EuroV8 Cup, intending to field a full time car for experienced GT racer Rafael Modena, and a second part-time car with rotating drivers.
Dash Cup driver Thomas de Bock was spotted in discussion with Roda recently, and there are suggestions the Belgian racer will make an appearance in the team's second car at his home round at Spa. Team owner Giovanni Roda is also widely tipped to race the two Italian rounds of the season in the same car. There is a chance they may further expand the second car's programme, depending on what drivers are available.
Modena would bring his long-time Eni sponorship with him to the team, while Ray-Ban are most likely to be a permanent associate sponsor, and lead sponsor for the second part-time car while Roda is at the wheel.
Jornal Tribuna de Macau wrote:Intersport driver Xairim moves to Europe
Macanese Intersport driver Adilmar Caetano Xairim has stepped up to a full-time programme in Europe, sealing a drive in the EuroV8 Cup with Korean team KQ Motor Sports.
KQ Motor Sports, who had a very brief and somewhat unsuccessful stint in Formula A in 2010, have recently focused on tin-tops, and have decided to venture into the Euro-centric series, having purchased an Indima chassis.
The entire team will be bankrolled by Xairim's substantial sponsorship from online gambling company 888, who will promote their Casino brand on the car - except for the UK round where 888 Sport will feature.

The date for cars and ratings has been extended to the 16th March 2015, although I would really like to have them within the next week. As I said, I am happy to paint your car if you ask me to.
I'm still awaiting both cars and ratings for:
#27 Rafael Modena (VVV)
#28 Thomas De Bock (VVV)
#28 Benoit Voeckler (VVV)
#28 Giovanni Roda (VVV)
#888 Adilmar Caeteno Xairim (VVV)
#17 Haziyoki Kazayoshi (Nickpericles)
#11 Aaron Collinson (navycook)
I'm still awaiting ratings for:
#2 Callum Morgan (Rykia)

Simply do not have the time to record 3 45-60minute races, so here are the final results of the 2014 season:

I promise proper race reviews for all rounds next season.

Here, didn't look like anyone was going to choose the Indama so wasn't included in the original:

Can't do it. Computer keeps nuking itself at random times and taking my livery attempts with it.

Hmm, so would this mean you wouldn't be able to paint the liveries? If it really is impossible for you to paint it, I am happy to paint them myself so long as you are ok with that?

Re: EuroV8 Cup
Basically my computer is a tad fucked - every time the power cable falls out of the laptop (often, dodgy connection) it dies instantly because the battery is fucked as well. I lost liveries on three occasions because of this.Milan655 wrote:Veni Vidi Voeckler wrote:Can't do it. Computer keeps nuking itself at random times and taking my livery attempts with it.

I'll give it one last go, but if it happens again today....I give up.
I'd also prefer not to use the numberbox for the KQ Indama, given the car number is also the main sponsor...

Ok, that's fine!
For the KQ Indama, you can remove the numberbox but a Michelin logo will need to be displayed elsewhere on the car too

Re: EuroV8 Cup
OK. #27 Trueba is almost done - can you give me a preview for that ASAP so I know what mistakes I need to change? The first time is always the most difficult with a template you've never worked on before, only want to get one livery wrong rather than all four.Milan655 wrote:Veni Vidi Voeckler wrote:

Would you like an in-game or car viewer preview? Thankfully, templates are quite nicely mapped in general so are quite easy to work with.

Re: EuroV8 Cup
Whatever is convenient. Just shots from all angles + some closeups on joints in the template would be appreciated, so I can see if I lined things up correctly or not. I had to take some guesses as to what some elements were which car part.Milan655 wrote:Veni Vidi Voeckler wrote:OK. #27 Trueba is almost done - can you give me a preview for that ASAP so I know what mistakes I need to change?

Re: EuroV8 Cup
Hmmm....so I see a lot of white in certain places I don't expect - the rollcage, the tyres, the exhaust...is that because of my livery file or something to do with NR2003 not loading the textures for those components?Milan655 wrote:Okay, here we are: https://s1323.photobucket.com/user/milan655/library/Trueba

Re: EuroV8 Cup
That's down to the car viewer file lacking textures for those parts, in game they will have the expected colours
EDIT: I've added some in-game shots as well

Re: EuroV8 Cup
Project Rubidium update: Funding goals reached!
We did it, everyone! Rubidium Racing is go - we've reached the funding goal, and after some talks with some of our other, more corporate backers, we are proud to announce that we will be running two cars in the EuroV8 series, the first being mostly your masterpiece, all backers' comments and sponsorships intact, and the second with backing from Salamander Technologies. We are grateful for all your support, whether you backed us, sent us messages of your love for racing, or as part of our #RbMeansGo campaign, and we hope to have your eyes when we start running in the real show!
And if that weren't enough, we're also going to announce the driver's lineup for the 2015 season right now!
In the #151 Salamander/Rubidium Racing car, we have Daniel Manbow, from across the Channel! Hailing from Belgium, he wowed our scouts by doing great in the Indama Junior Trophy series, and we are proud to have him as part of our team for this season.
From, of all places, Nauru, we've tapped Kona Kukeiha to run the #573 by Salamander Technologies. He's been impressive in Formula Lites in Australia, and since we've been in touch, he's told us how excited he is to finally get in a car that fits him - big, loud, and powerful!
We can't wait to get on to the track and show you how far we've come since the idea came about, just a business proposal between acquaintances, and just three years later, we've got everything we need to compete in an international series. All thanks to the people who believed we could do it.

(Ratings and car paints are coming in a couple days; don't expect much from the paints, I'm kinda terrible at it...)
